  1. ive been making 80 mile round trips to blackburn from manchester for the past 6 weeks on all roads motorway over the lancashire moors and a & b roads in the early morning when its dark and home at rush hour and my vrs has had no problems.i know it childish but when the road is empty enough ive been wheel spinning and skidding for fun( i think it may serve me well to have experience if i go out of control ).i just keep the esp on as thats what its there for and as stated i just feather the clutch as i am setting off no need for loads of gas. i am glad it is front wheel drive as ive seen loads of BMW and mercs get stuck.p.s you wont catch me getting my hands cold giving them snobs a push.
  2. your obviously trying to talk your way into buying it and hope that others agree.take the advise given and walk away.it has no service history for 23000 miles, you dont know if the belt has been changed as there is no paperwork, bodywork is scratched and chipped and there are loads of them around for sale at much cheaper prices.at £4000 you would nearly pick up a high mileage mk2.
  3. you might want to check the radiator mounts havent perished as the arb bushes make knocking noises and the rad mounts cause squeaking.open the bonnet and push the radiator to see if there is any play.also if you shut the front doors you can hear it squeak.
  4. i dont understand ppl risking buying fakes of ebay, if they were saving hundreds then give it a go but for the sake of less than £20 compared to the price of genuine dealer stock it makes no sense
  5. please bare with me as i am not very experienced in car maintenance so i really need good solid advise.i need to change the arb bushes and from research i know i need 17mm and get rid of the plastic sleeve but firstly do i need to buy powerflex or other polyurethene bush or is normal rubber ones from TPS good enough.secondly will i want to use a new bracket and does that stop the bush moving on the bar or do i need to use a jubilee clip to stop it moving as i read it on another post but im not to clear on where the clip needs to go if it needs one and is copper paste the best lube for them. lastly i saw a guide on here which was upgraded from the vw one and was made by a briskoda member but for the life of me i cant find it again so if anyone has the link to it i would be very grateful and i am grateful for any help anyone can offer.thanks.....p.s. i am going to have a crack at changing them myself.
  6. i bought one for my vrs off TPS and it was £29 and that included the o ring
  7. use TPS they use your reg so the paint is a perfect match.
  8. the handling is decent on my vrs.i dont know why ppl always call the handling.maybe the car needs a decent driver.
  9. just hoping for a point in the right direction, but whenever i go over a speed bump or even the slightest bit of uneven road the car makes a noise like metal hitting metal like a constant rattle.if the road is smooth i hear nothing but it is really starting to grate on me.ive had the drop links changed but it is still there.i was informed that it could be the ARB bushes and was hoping someone could let me know if theyve had this problem and if so what size bushes do i need and how much would it roughly cost to get them fitted and where is the best place to buy them.thanks.
  10. [quote na01271 - Positioning Motor for Temperature Flap (V68) 37-10 - Faulty - Intermittent 01274 - Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71) 37-10 - Faulty - Intermittent is this all in the same motor because when i checked for (v68) and (v71) on ebay it has a vw polo motor with the same (v68)and (v71) is it the right motor or which motor should i look out for.thanks
  11. cant find anything out about the recirculation flap motor.any ideas on a fix.it is definately sound like a mouse scratching about.
  12. i press on the door when driving and it still rattles.it almost sounds as if it is behind the glovebox.
