  1. It's the french thing, in all the cars I've driven previously, you could turn the stalk to control the rear wiper, and push/pull to control the front, so you could wash the front and rear windscreens at the same time. In the fabia, because the stalks don't turn (Although I'm kinda used to the lights now - but the fact that I can't have the rear fog lamp on without the fronts being on is also annoying) then you can either wash the front windscreen or the back but not both at the same time, you have to do one then the other (or if you were using the rear windscreen, and then you wash the front. the rear one is turned off till you turn it on again) Just the little things...
  2. I'm just describing what it says in the handbook. The accelerator one is the pain, but also changing gear makes the clutch/brake noticeable. (Although changing gear obviously defeats the point of CC) Anyway surely an ecu should be able to determine between emergency braking/the stall of trying to pull off at 70mph after stopping and thus know when to disable CC? Thanks for your answers guys, and they do make sense, I just wondered why it didn't work as described in the manual - it's either a mistake or a mistranslation, and it isn't the first one in the manual in either case. (I probably should've thought more before posting, especially as I'm a physics graduate/teacher. My excuse is I'm tired!) I barely get to use CC anyway... My bigger concerns are: a) the lack of a dedicated clock, especially one visible to the passengars, I liked my 306's central clock. the fact that front washers and rear wash/wipe are not independent of each other (this annoys me as I often have to clean both) and c) the damn reverse. Coming from the 306, it was easy to distinguish, but in the vRS, if I forget anywhere it will always be in the car park, I've had too many near misses to count. In fact I almost drove it into a nice octy vrs when i went to pick the car up from the dealer on the first day!
  3. According to the manual, once I've set a speed and engaged the CC, it should maintain that speed. When I press the accelerator and speed up, it's supposed to go back to this speed when I let go. It doesn't. It also should disengage the CC when I press the clutch or brake, and again it should resume when I release the pedals. It doesn't. In both cases, I have to press the button on the end of the stick to turn the CC back on. Is there a reason for this, is it an option I can change with vagcom?
  4. Anybody wanting to know what difference it being 001 makes, I bought 946 (registered in June 07) in december from a skoda partner for £8995 and it had done 12k So 4 months older, 12k extra mileage, and £1000 more
  5. I bought one of these thinking that I could fit it to my Fabia vRS, and sadly it's slightly the wrong shape. Does anybody know if they can be made to fit, otherwise I'll have to get rid of it.
  6. This is the one, and from what I understand it'll fit any fabia (don't know about other cars) with that vertical area by the radio din.
  7. Yes MattHirst they are the magic ones. I got it on ebay, rather than the dealership. (Incidentally, I'm sure when I was browsing this forum I saw a thread/section for comparing dealers and garages but can't seem to find it now, I'd like to make positive comments about the guy who sold me my SE from mid cornwall) Looking back in the handbook now, it appears I pluralised cupholder in my head!
  8. Am I right in assuming that I can't put one of these on my drivers side as there doesn't seem to be a space for it like there was on my passenger side. Have I made a rookie error in buying 2? Although these pop-out holders are simply marvelous.
  9. Hi there, I bought a Fabia vRS after christmast, because I wanted a diesel fabia or a 306 Dturbo since I started driving, and my 306 was dying on me (we had a disagreement over the necessity of headlights at night!) so I bought a Fabia. Having searched around and found these forums I saw they were quite technically useful and so it would probably be in my interest to say hi here. I drive a vRS SE#946 (I was also looking at #610 but this one was 1.5k cheaper!) Regards Brynn
