  1. Same for me regarding the stutter. Few mins and the guy said just a few quid for a drink.
  2. Just an update on a few recent problems regarding my 07 fabia vrs. Firstly had the annoying stutter fixed by replacing new gasket drilled out to 10.5 mm which has transformed the car dramatically.[The stutter made the car terrible to drive before at low revs]. Also had problems getting the car into 1st and reverse and after visiting 2 different skoda dealers eventually telling me it needed new clutch after 18000 miles! [had only had the car a month]. They had quoted 480.00 but i had it done at the garage where the stutter was cured for 350.00 [dont know what prices other people have paid?]. This has cured the problem but i hope the clutch lasts much longer this time! Finally just had 30,000 mile service done at dealer which cost 280.00. This did include tightening of handbrake and brake fluid change but still thought it would have been a bit cheaper. 40,000 service has been quoted at 320.00. Are these prices about right?
  3. Sorry i meant buy a vrs not by ! [spelling not the best]
  4. I own a fabia vrs and had a cooper d for a week as a courtesy car while a previous car was being fixed. Did 1100 miles in a week and covered all sorts of roads and would definately have vrs. Mini was fairly rapid but ride was very firm and used to scrape over speed bumps where vrs doesnt. I kept getting out mini shutting front door and then went to open back door to get my stuff out! 5 doors much easier, especially with 3 kids in booster seats which fit in back of vrs but not in the mini. The Minis boot was tiny also. Fuel economy in the mini was a tad better but not by much and build quality was good. Mini more expensive to buy but holds value longer. Thats my view, hope that helps and by a vrs !
  5. Well im sorry to hear that there are other people with simular issues. Other than this gear selection problem and the famous stutter which im getting sorted asap the car is great.
  6. The car is an o7 plate vrs and has 18 months warranty left. After using the clutch after doing hill starts or manoeuvering the car backwards and forwards the gears are very difficult to engage and become very clunky if they go in at all. Went to 1st skoda dealer and they adjusted gear linkage but didnt seem to help much and 2 days later found an a4 sized piece of paper showing how to adjust gears which they had left under the bonnet! Thats why i have gone to 2nd dealer in the hope of a better outcome. I hope if i do have to have a new clutch it will last longer than 23000 next time.
  7. Been back to 2nd skoda dealer after unconvincing visit to 1st dealer regarding gear selection and they couldnt find anything wrong. I used the clutch going backwards and forwards and managed to get the problem to re-occur and they decided a new clutch is needed after only owning the car for less than 2 months. The car had done 18000 miles when i bought it and was stuggling with the gears not long after that. It has now done 23000. Has said that they see very few vrs in with clutch problems. They say that clutch is not covered by warranty unless it has a fault with it which by the sound of it is unlikely. Have quoted just under 500.00 pound to replace as well ! They said to try customer care but have said it is very unlikely to get any compensation back. Very fed up about all this so not sure what to do next. Have got few quotes from more local garages and have got prices nearer to the 300.00 mark. Any suggestions gladly accepted?
  8. Have read all about the famous stutter on fabia-vrs.com and other posts but i am no mechanic so trying to find out best way to solve this problem without possible dealer issues. 25mm,14.5mm,10.5mm and 9mm? Thats a lot of mms!
  9. Does anyone know if changing the 25mm gasket to a 9mm gasket between egr valve/engine [to hopefully cure the stutter] and the addition of a pd 160 air intake affect warranty issues? This stutter is driving me bonkers!
  10. Also back to my original post that included the famous stutter does replacing the 25mm gasket with the 9mm gasket [to hopefully cure this problem] and changing over to a pd 160 air intake affect the warranty?
  11. Yes dual controls are fitted to the car. Was done at a different skoda dealership from where i purchased the car.
  12. The skoda dealer adjusted the linkage which hasnt really helped and 2 days after this happened i was looking under the bonnet and found they had left an a4 sized instruction sheet on how to adjust the linkage! The car has only done 21000 miles so Is this a common fault for that mileage?[ I will be doing about 35000 miles a year]
  13. Clutch pedal feels fine. Very hard to engage gear 1 or reverse which seems to happen when stationary especially after reverse parking when going reverse to 1st and back to reverse again etc.
  14. Hi, need advice on 2 things. I have bought an 07 fabia vrs about a month ago and i am firstly having a problem when the car is going along doing approx 30 to 40 mph it seems to be a bit jumpy/spluttery especially when light on the gas and this happens when the car is upto temp. Secondly also having problems when going 1st to reverse and visa versa with it being very hard to get into gear even after clutch up and down again. I have been back to dealer regarding these faults and they said they have adjusted the gear links which helped very slightly but didnt solve problem completly. Also said they put car on fault diognostics machine but showed no faults regarding sputtering. Iam a driving instructor and i am using the car a lot so any suggestions would be gratefully recieved.:(
