  1. I followed a guide to grind a hole to get access to the cog, however even turning this manual didn't work. In the end I spent about 4 hours grinding/hammering/levering away at the lock from inside the door and it finally popped open when I had the majority of the lock casing open (still attached to the door) Absolute ballache it was so I'm trying to avoid it failing altogether on the other door. Think I'll end up replacing with newer ones but not brand new as rear lock was nearly 100 quid so imagine front would be about the said even from TPS. Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

  3. Long time lurker here Have had a search before posting and have found similar threads but nothing that answers my question. Having just spent all last weekend releasing then replacing the rear passenger lock, the front passenger has decided to play up as well. All this two weeks before MOT is due Now the problem is the lock not locking/unlocking as it should do. It's intermittent however seems to be getting worse, i.e. not doing want I want it to! I'm wondering if something like this guide would fix the problem: http://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?112069-Lock-microswitch-problem-Door-open-signal-failure-Car-may-lock-you-out-May-affect-other-VAG-vehicles Sometimes the lock won't release even using the inside handle, this is the same as what the rear door lock did which meant full replacement and not repair. It does still open occasionally, so hoping I can just repair. To add to this, the drivers door when opened no longer activates the interior light or headlight buzzer, is this the same micro switch mentioned in the linked guide or a different one? Best case scenario is a cheap fix, worst case is two new door locks! Any help or advice given is much appreciated. Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
  4. Does anyone know what size the thread is for the 18mm horizontal bolt that goes through the front wishbone bush? Mine had seized and snapped off in the console itself. Managed to remove the console and get the rest of the bolt out but need to re-tap the threads if possible as still has bits of bolt in, otherwise it's going to be the cost of a new console. Car is currently on axle stands, DOH :S ! Or anyone know the price of a new console?

  6. Well I managed to find a list of online manuals that will show what I mean. Online Manuals The one that shows the rear door window removal is elemente caroserie.pdf, and it is explained in section 58 of the pdf, not page 58. I haven't noticed these manuals as a sticky anywhere, maybe they should be placed as a sticky in the technical guides sections??
  7. Thanks for the quick reply Moley but the rear window is attached differently to the front. The rear is attached centrally by one fixture. It's not screwed or anything, imagine a round hole near the bottom of the window glass with a grommet looking thing in it, which then fits into something attached to the door. Hope these pictures give you a better idea.
  8. My rear passenger lock has given up and my door is stuck and will not open. It doesn't open with the central locking, and when I try to open from the inside the door pin rises, only to fall straight back down once I let go. I'm trying to get access to the lock/solenoid, so far I have the door card off, however I can't get the inner carrier/skin off to gain full access. It seems the only way this can be done is by removing the window which is attached to the inner carrier ancillaries. From what I can tell, it looks as though you squeeze the round plug that sits near the bottom of the glass and push it towards the outside of the car to release it. I was wondering if this is correct, and how easy would refitting be? Also, if I can't do this myself, what is a Dealer likely to charge for replacement and refitting of the door lock, assuming that is the cause of the problem. I've searched all over the forum but can only find guides to getting the door cards off, nothing about how to get the rear carrier off. Cheers in advance.
  9. Cheers for the offer I'm based North East so not really an option :( . I'm in the same boat as you, as in I want to keep it OEM too, plus I'm not in the car that often so theres no need for an all singing all dancing HU that will cost a lot more. My only concern was I know a guy who deals in audio and he said the sound quality isn't great, but that may be because he is comparing it to a HU that is £400+ so not really a fair comparison, think I'll have to pick his brains some more to find out exactly what he means. I guess it may also depend on the source i.e. the HU more than the quality of the Connects2 adaptor itself. Cheers for the replies though, Andy
  10. What is the sound quality like on this Connects2 Ipod Adaptor?
  11. Very nice mate Your badge is apparently like rocking horse **** to get hold of though (according to my brief research lol) so I'll just have to go down the custom route. Hope it turns out just as good though.
  12. Evening all. I'm new to the forum after recently purchasing a Fabia VRS. I have been interested in changing the badges on the front grille and the boot for something more sleek and stealthy, whilst still retaining the Skoda logo. I done a search to find a design I liked and I managed to find this pin badge: However as my car is black I was thinking of getting a custom one made similar to this (excuse the quick bodge job on paint) What do you think? Also, has anybody used 3ddecals on eBay? They can do both badges for £6.99 each and said they have done similar designs before. Cheers, Andy
  13. Evening all. I'm Andy, 23 from Newcastle and I pleased to say I have just become the owner of a Black Magic Skoda Fabia. After 5 and a half years of owning this Saxo , I felt it was time to move on to something bigger and better. Luckily I knew a lad who was selling a 53 Black Magic Fabia VRS, and as I was a good pal I qualified for mates rates . It has done 48k, full service history and I managed to snap it up for £4.5k which I thought was a great deal. Here she is: It has already had the rubstrips removed and these are the plans I have in mind: Remove rear VRS badge (already done) Fit new design front and rear skoda badges (see below) Colour code headlights and grille Seat front splitter Full detail nearer Spring/Summer RARB Lowered New wheels Remap etc etc if I start to get bored After browsing the forum so far it seems a very welcoming place with a lot of helpful people. So here goes my first question, has anybody used 3ddecals on eBay? They do custom badges for £6.99. I'm after a design like this pin badge I found: Only instead of the blue have it black. They said they have produced similar ones before but don't have any pictures as it was a while ago. What do you think? Andy
