  1. I have the 1.8 TSI DSG Combi facelift. have done around 13k miles and no problems so far. The engine is excellent. More than enough power, very refined, extremely quiet. DSG is just brilliant. Provides a fast and relaxing driving experience. As you know the diesel vs petrol decision comes down to your milleages. If you do many of them in a year it is wiser to get a diesel if not then petrol is a no brainer. Since i was too marginal in my annual milleages I had the dillema: 1.8 DSG combi or 2.0 diesel Manual combi. I went for the petrol and i am still as happy as when i bought it. With the extra money i saved on petrol i went for some extras.
  2. in general DSGs tend to be a bit jerky....especially when driven a bit agressive...drive for a few miles smoothly and the box will adapt resulting into smoother drive. sadly, many dealers have no clue about DSG. Due to the complexity of the unit and their ignorance they just change the mechatronic unit (without even being faulty). Pulling the negative terminal off the battery for 15 minutes to reset the box ecu works fine with no consequences whatsover.
  3. i am very happy with my 1.8tsi DSG 7. great engine even when pushed it does not sound to suffer. The box is smooth when driven smoothly. when i drive fast then it might be a bit jerky when starting from green, that is happening due to the fact that the box is adapting my driving style. Driving then for a few miles smoothly it adapts a smoothy drive...
  4. well the answer is simple.....Golf GTi all the way....
  5. how much it costs a litter/galon of petrol in oz?
  6. i own a facelift octavia 1.8 dsg combi. Torque is fantastic and enough!!!. i live in central europe where things are more 'loose' than in uk with re: driving. i imagine in UK the torque and horsepower of a 1.8TSI are very very satisfiying to the normal driver. ******** now if you do more than 20k miles per year then it is sensible to buy a diesel. OTHERWISE petrol is a no brainer... *******
  7. i am traveling to cz in 2 weeks time. i was wondering if you know any website to download a map for the GPS GARMIN 250W...
  8. in central europe skodas are very well appreciated and we dont get that kind of behaviour even from bmw and merc...
  9. Safe Plate is an Anti-Flash Number Plate Spray. They say you can prove it effectiveness with a digital camera that has got an external flash.... have you tried it?
