  1. Don't suppose you have it mapped do you? Cheers
  2. Wondering what engine code would be on a 2005 1.9PD octavia, and in your opinions is it a good engine for a remap at higher miles. Had a 04 1.9 130bhp (wonderfully engine), also had an 08 1.9 105bhp found this to be noisier and just didn't get on with it, also the fear of a Conrod pooping through! Cheers
  3. Thank you for the replies you have certainly put my mind at rest, one thing I would say is I won't be doing twenty miles in total to work its 9.5 miles either way, still ok? As you can tell I tend to worry a bit! :-) still I'm in the right place for advise.
  4. Hi i am now looking at a Vrs Cr, Just after some advise in regards to potential issues caused by short runs. I am aware that the cr does not suffer with the horrendous issues that the old PD suffered with the DPF but? the car will mostly do around 20 miles round trip for work with motorway runs at least once a week around 65 miles. will it suffer any DPF issues with this use? i know you will say get a petrol but i love diesels and always had them. thankyou in advance.
  5. Forgot to mention I have found CN Tuning in Bracknell Berks, as advertised as an agent on Shark website, £249 all in.
  6. Thanks for the replies. How important is it to get brakes and handling improved? Thing is I'm not going to drive like a loon or track it! Just fancy the re map to make the car more driveable, effortless on hills when loaded etc. surely standard brakes are still up to the job?
  7. Looking to get my 1.9pd remapped very soon, from reading all posts Shark seems to be the way to go. My question is do they have any agents in the Hampshire area that can supply fit, or is it a trip to their main workshop?
  8. Hi, needing some light shed please. I have been reading with interest of the failing petrol VRS engine which I believe is a TFSI. Which engine would have been fitted to a pre FL 08 plate VRS, same engine? Failures seem to be FL cars? Is the later a stronger engine, how is reliability with routine servicing?
  9. Flickering dash lights when attempting to start, car fired up but cut straight out several times, car left in sun for two hours and started fine? Should add there had been a very heavy frost. Could this be battery on way out, why does car start but then cut out?
  10. Thanks for the reply, it was the dash beeping not the horn. Left car for few hours and it started fine with no flickering of dash lights, although airbag light on permanently now?
  11. Hi after some help please. 08 octy 1.9 tdi 80k, been fine all week, sat idle yesterday. So went to go out today, turned key and dash lights flickering, battery I thought? No car fired first time but cut out after about 1-2 seconds then started beeping at me? Three times this happened. Saturday so obviously nowhere open, be greatfull for some pointers before Monday.
  12. Strange that it only does it dropping sixth to fifth on box around 70ish. Never hear it on any other form of driving?
  13. Hi just after some clues really, mk1 octy 1.9tdi 130bhp, 2004 107k. When slowing I.e from motorway speed onto exit slip 6th to 5th there seems to be a pronounced humming or whine from the gearbox. Now the car has been doing this for some time now and not affected it in any other way hence just asking for clues before possibly paying out. She is still on original clutch and certainly doesn't show any clues of expiring anytime soon. Could this be something to do with the DMF? Thanks
  14. Cheers Mike very helpful, sounds like the route I shall be taking. And yeah Shark sounds like the way to go from everything I have been reading.
  15. Hello, little advise on Re-maps please, car in question mk 2 1.9TDI PD 105bhp. my last car was a 130bhp PD which was plenty and a nice drive so im looking at a re map, it seems that 140bhp is the norm on this engine which im guessing would improve the drivability no end? My concerns are what implications this will put on other bits such as the clutch or turbo? The car is an 08 plate with FSH and Cambelt water pump replaced at 60k car now on 80k. I certainly dont drive hard, after all would have purchased something else if this is what i wanted just be nice to get back that mid range punch that was great on the 130bhp mk 1. i have been looking at other posts on this subject but just find it all so confusing. just wondered if anyone that has remapped this model and what sort of miles you had at the time? May thanks.
  16. so the nights have drawn in and the weather has turned and i am now starting to see or not see should i say with my standard bulb firment on the headlamps. can anybody recommend a good bulb replacement for my mk 2 octavia? thankyou.
  17. Monks VAG specialist, Castle lane Between Chandlers Ford and Baddesley, always used them for my octavia last five years and can't fault them. Can't give you a price but lot cheaper than your quote. Check their website.
  18. Thanks for all the replies, due to my needs I have purchased a 2008 1.9 tdi ambiente with FSH 77k. Very pleased with the car and the Mpg, hopefully will be as reliable as my mk1, def will be better than my last car a Renault Megane! One question I would ask is that when purchased the dealer gave it a service, looking in the book they have used long life oil, it was on variable servicing for first 55k but has been adjusted to fixed since and last two services. Should I get the oil changed or will that be fine until next service? I am guessing not as it will be superior oil?
  19. Thank you for your replies, like you say people only post problems! May I also ask you for thoughts on purchasing a 2.0PD engined octavia? The car in question is a 95k 1 owner full history example, again I only seem to read issues regarding this engine but there seems to be a lot on the road!
  20. Thanks for your reply, did the BXE code stay from 57 plate until the end of production? What's with the porous head on the 2.0pd or was that just early engined cars, I don't dislike the 2.0pd unit just trust the 1.9 more, had a 57 plate passat courtesy car once with 157k that seemed to drive very well.
  21. Hi, well after leaving Skoda for Renault I am back, what a fool I hear you all cry! My last Skoda an 130bhp diesel octavia, god I miss that car. Anyway I am now looking for a diesel mk2 but things seem more complicated since I left and I am a little confused? Think I have decided on a 1.9 just because I like that engine but can only find 2.0pd's locally (maybe a reason for that )? I am confused on engine codes, what will a 07/08 plate car have on its code? And sorry to bring this old chestnut up but if I get a BXE coded car will I come to a conrod busted block sorry end? Thank you
  22. Thankyou, got a mk1 Ambiente now with six speed, could'nt go back to Five! So no DPF and highly recommended, think it looks like im changing cars
  23. Excellent news, I am guessing it will be a 16v, it's a 2006 06, 2.0 Diesel Sport. Would you know if it's a 5 speed or six? Thankyou
  24. Hello again, further to my last post regarding DPF's I have another burning question. Am now currently looking at a 2.0TDi Sport model with 61k at Dealer, would I be correct in thinking this is a 140 bhp version of the early VRS PD 170bhp? If this is the case would I be correct in thinking it could potentially suffer the DPF problems? Does anybody have any advise about the sport model, I am guessing its just the trim level and bigger alloys compared to the Elegance? Also would anybody know of anywhere that can remove DPF 's in Hampshire area? Many thanks,
