  1. I think Pratts Bottom takes some beating, it`s between Sevenoaks, & Bromley, in Kent.
  2. I had the same problem with my roomy 3 tdi, garage roof would catch aeriel on way out, after unscrewing it for several weeks I thought there must be an easier solution, and there is, just unscrew the aeriel, which is not removable, get a small file, and file a small flat on the piece of metal that the fibre glass rod is connected to, in the position that the aeriel clears your garage door, then tighten aeriel up onto the new filed flat, mine is approx half up, its been o/k for the 2.yrs. its been done,no lack of reception, there is one downside though, [which will depend on how far down you have to lay the aeriel.] when you open the boot, it may just catch the aeriel in its new position, and just bend it up fractonally, but for the piece of mind knowing that I`m not going to rip the aeriel off the roof, I`ve found it more than worth it.
  3. i think you`ll find they just unscrew, they may be just tight.
  4. Help needed please, for Roomster 1.9tdi. going on ferry in April to Spain, just noticed ferry company states ALL car alarms to be switched off on boarding in case of rocking motion of ship, now I`ve looked under alarm in hand book, and I must be thick, becouse I cant find any info on this, if anyone knows, and in words of one syllable please, I would be most appreciative. Thanks.
  5. thanks everyone for all the advice, bit worried now about making Valencia in the time i thought, had arranged to meet a friend for dinner early evening, but it now looks like it might be the midnight supper, or just a quick drink, fingers crossed for a traffic free trip.!!!!
  6. Looking for some tyre advice, I`m running a Roomster 1.9tdi, 56.plate,I was just browsing out of curiosity for tyre prices on the web, the tyres on my car are Michelin pilot,I think, which on nearly all sites seem to be the most expensive of all makes, ranging from £105.00 - £125.00. per tyre, now I know michelin are supposed to be good, but,£420.00. - £500.00. for four tyres seems bl..dy expensive to me, especially when I could get Dunlops, Firestone, or Bridgestone, for about, £70.00. - £80.00. each approx. at one time you were not supposed to mix Michelin and other makes on the same axle, which I would`nt be doing, but would put two on front first,as they wore out, then replace backs later,so, has anyone used other tyres, recommendations greatly appreciated. Also, going off on a totally different tack, were off to Spain in April, driving from Bilbao, to Valencia, then down to Marbella, never having been on Spanish motorways before, are the service centres actually on the motorways, like in England, as we went to France last summer, and had to continually leave the M.ways, as they were not actually sited on them, we have to be in Valencia by about 5.pm. and dont dock in Bibao until 8.am. so do not want to waste any time looking for grub,!!!. Thanks.
  7. whilst were on the subject, any ideas of approx cost for replacement belt change
  8. as a new member i just want to say hi to everyone, i`m the owner of a 56 plate roomster, bought as ex demo with 2000 mls on clock, now showing 17500,and think its one of the best little cars i`ve ever owned, we pull a caravan approx 22cwt,fully loaded, pulled it half way down france, and back, it performed great, in fact,in april, we are taking just the car by ferry to Bilbao, northern Spain, driving 430mls to Valencia,in one day, to see a friend, stay one night, then another 420mls, on to Marbella, southern Spain, where we`ve booked an appartment for two wks, then driving back to Bilbao, via Madrid, for the ferry home, which will be about another 850.mls or so, but hopefully, she`ll handle it with ease.!!!!.
