  1. the symptoms are the car starts and ticks over fine but wont rev. The vagcom showed a fault on the throttle pedal I have replaced the throttle pedal and it still doesnt work. And when pressing the throttle pedal there is no response according to vagcom.
  2. I want to fix it but i may be able to afford it until the back end of the year. so it would just be sitting there doing nothing
  3. I cant really afford to fix, tax and run it though :( as im about to take on a mortgage and im not on the best wage in the world!! lol
  4. I have a 54reg black magic skoda octavia vrs which has a fault with the throttle pedal..i replaced the pedal and the fault is still there. The fault has now been traced to the ecu. I can get it reconditioned or repaired for less than £200 but i then also need to tax and insure the car..but i cant afford to do this as im in the process of buying a house. The engine ticks over fine but just wont rev. It has done 63k and had its last service at 47k. The car was category d repaired back in 2007 i think The engine has had a recon turbo which has done less than 3000 miles. Other mods are 18" r32 replica alloy wheels with almost brand new tyre, forge 007p dump valve and a stainless downpipe and decat. The car has mot until november but no tax. The interior is mint with no wear on the drivers seat and comes with proper vrs mats. the paintwork is in good condition as it was resprayed but the front bumper is stonechipped and the rear bumper has a crack in the paintowork and a dent in the boot. The car has also had 2 new coilpacks, a new bosch maf sensor and 2 new front springs in the last year. Can anybody tell me what they think its worth as a whole or if its worth while breaking it? Thanks Dan
  5. The faults that came up on my car were: Throttle pedal position sensor short to positive or faulty wiring. Oxygen sensor heater bank one open circuit. I know i will have to replace the oxygen sensor but does anybody have any ideas about the first one? Thanks Dan
  6. thanks for the reply..im awaiting my mate coming up with his vagcom but just thought it was worth posting up on the offchance
  7. My 54reg vrs went into limp mode yesterday and the EPC light came one..i managed to get it home as i was about half a mile away. But upon starting it today the EPC light is still on but the car wont rev atall!! Does anybody have any ideas of what this could be?? Also a while ago i fitted a downpipe and decat and put the sensors back into them. then a while after that the engine management light came on..could this be related?? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks Dan
  8. I have the same fault as you mate especially in top gear..lower gears seem ok but it just boosts on and off in 4th and 5th gear If you find out what it is let me know!!
  9. Thanks for the reply. The standard spring has been put back on. We never fitted the lowering spring to the car just fitted it into the shocker and thats when we noticed it was ill fitting!! I will contact them tomorrow and hope that its their fault! Thanks Dan
  10. I have just tried to fit some 20mm apex lowering springs to my car from euro car parts. And upon fitting the spring the top is much wider than standard so the dished plate that screws down to hold it in place doesnt fit properly and also the spring still sits loose when everything is tightened up!! It may sound like i dont know what im on about but my mate whos a mechanic has just tried to fit them. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dan
  11. Ive just come home from working away in swansea for the week and my dad has managed to loose the key for my vrs. To make matters worth its up for sale and had people wanting to view it this weekend. What can i do?? Will i have to prepare to be robbed by skoda to get a new one?? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Dan
  12. Hmmm i hope the engine is fixable!!! Has anybody purposley written a car off? thats the only way for me to make decent money haha Anyways got a new work van which is almost as much fun as the octy. vw caddy 140bhp
  13. I still feel that around 3k is a good price and is lower than what you would pay for a non damaged one. The car is mechanically sound and had side impact damage and none to the front. And plus i have reciepts for £1000 to get the car running correctly. So i couldnt sell for anyhting less than 3k or i would be loosing money.
  14. I think i may end up breaking it but i want the engine running and to be fixed as thats what i will get the most money for!!
