Went from 5w30 to 5w40, no more smoke!
stevobeavo replied to sakta's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I think I'd be telling the garage to supply and fit a new turbo Free of charge. -
Most people would say the dark side one piece kits. I had them on my car and they were ok. I'm sure some people have got the eBay knock off one piece pipes and from what I remember they were perfectly ok. Try having a search and seeing what you can find.

Being a garret I wouldn't have thought so. I'm sure KKK were standard fit on all fabia vrs. Probably still a pd130 though.

Need quite a bit changing.

New to me type of CV boot failure
stevobeavo replied to Breezy_Pete's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I've seen a few tear like that too but normally grease is everywhere too. -
I think the rules for mots are that if there was a cat fitted when it left the factory then it needs to be there for the mot. Saying that I never had a problem when I had my fabia with a de-cat

Stock injectors are only good for 230/240bhp max. I found my paddle clutch perfectly fine for a day driver but of you want something that will last you'll need to spend money. With flywheel again a good brand dmf will be fine, smf is noisy and will damage the gearbox over time. Remember to sort handling out too.

Recommended disc and pad upgrades?
stevobeavo replied to alff's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
The pagid and brembos ecps sell are made under licence and not officially ' official pagid/brembos' Saying that never had a problem with pagid from ecp. Used to fit them on a hire fleet of taxis/mini cabs etc. Had some issues with ecp brembo stuff but could have been unlucky. Avoid the eicher brand. Cheap crap. -
Repairs worthwhile? Advice gratefully appreciated :)

I've seen quite a few cars fail the fast idle test due to exhaust leaks. If there is some water coming out the washer Then it might simply be that the end of the nozzle has pushed out and will need pushing back in. Mine failed the MOT when I had it years ago because of this. -
Maybe the odd one or two lol. Going back 15/20 years they made some great engines. I know mercedes have taken a big hit with reliability with the A class because of the French engines they've put in them haha.
-
Because its a awful car. If it looks like everything else it wouldn't sell. Plus they use french engines and have big problems with the timing chains

Anyone had experience with these brakes??
stevobeavo replied to Jb7lr's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Drilled discs are fine for the road. Wouldn't use them on track though. -
Ahh the rare Mustang killer. Looks in very good condition Ross 👍

You have to sort out fitting the vac hose. But in all honestly there's no point in fitting one. Sounds terrible and some have had running issues. Standard filter is good for up to 230bhp.

Still can't believe people are asking this question after all these years. It's pretty obvious what it does lol.

Vrs MK1 dog bone / lower engine mount recommended?
stevobeavo replied to bmbmdmb's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I used to have the vibra-technics solid mount and although it did bring extra vibration into the car personally for me is was fine. The gear shift was much better, traction was better with wheel soon more controlled with no bunny hop effect you can sometimes get. And you could feel zero engine movement when accelerating and changing down gear. I changed it for the red superpro bush after a few years and comfort levels were better but you could feel a bit of movement when accelerating etc. -
1. Brake lube 2. Performance pads
stevobeavo replied to bmbmdmb's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
Regarding brake pads. As others have said. Just stick to standard pads. Even on track the rears don't get particularly hot. If you do go for performance lads though avoid ebc. All there pads are terrible and have issues. -
Do i need pd150 head bolts?
stevobeavo replied to Redvrsadam's topic in Skoda Fabia Mk I (1999-2007)
I never had them with a hybrid pd150 but as stated it is a good idea to change them for the cost and time its definitely worth it. Do one at a time. -
Seat Leon FR and no they don't work. Could be wired up to though.
-
Check your intercooler. the plastic air duct tends to rub on the intercooler and over time wear through. Normally on the top right corner.
-
Same as my old one Fabia. Will it go onto 5th if when changing down you nudge 4th ever so slightly?
-
Can always do it yourself. I made one using mesh and have a few pictures of the process in my old project thread.
-
Yes they will. Most run that size with the 17" spiders including myself when I had my Fabia. And that was on coliovers, maybe 50/60mm lowered.
-
This looks familiar lol. It was detailed by myself but about 4 years ago now. How are you getting on with it and What are you plans for it?
