  1. I think had exactly the same tapping noise at the beginning of last year. Does it increase linearly with the speed of the car? From what I can remember, mine tapped continually while my foot was on the accelerator. Mine started a few weeks after I'd hit a kerb at 40. It was due an MOT so I just put it through and told them about it. Got the car back the same day, with them noting that everything was good except a cracked front suspension bush (probably from the collision with the kerb). The knocking was still there, so I took it to 3 different garages none of them found a thing. Couple of my mates had a look & came to the same conclusion. Then, after about a month of bouncing about and not finding anything wrong my oil light started flashing. Stopped straight away & checked the oil. The level was perfect, so I started the car (schoolboy) drove about 200m and the engine seized. After ripping the engine out, the boy said he thinks the oil pump was fine & there was no blockages anywhere. So no idea what caused it. Bit of a horror story with no real help for you, but I'd take the tapping seriously. I'm still not convinced that the pump was operating as it should.
  2. I'm the same, i don't pay much for my insurance anymore but i know it would jump up if i got vRS & i'm pretty happy with my car just now. But non vRS models need lowering so bad! Stilts is an understatement.
  3. I need coilovers baddd, looks like i'm going off roading.

  4. Good to know, thanks mate. Probably give it a go after payday and pray for some mediocre weather to get it done.
  5. They're really that easy fit? I was going to do them myself but as soon as the word 'pressing' came up I didn't want the hassle!
  6. As did I. Ended up hunting about after taking all the drivers side dash off with no success. The little control unit should be sited under the drivers seat, easier to get to if you take the seat out & trace the wires back from the connector.
  7. That is beautiful! What coilovers do you have fitted? The stance
  8. Finally sealed up my door carriers! Then just as i was finishing it started drizzling, that sealant better dry pronto
  9. I had a different problem recently with my heated seats and was looking to track down the relay. I was informed on here that the heated seat circuit does not have a relay in it. Instead there is a small 12v control unit under the drivers seat. Have you checked that? It does sound as though there is a constant voltage being supplied to the element regardless of the switch. Have you changed any electrics recently?
  10. Okay, so checked everything last night. Connectors, fuses, control units and everything seemed to be working right except the voltage was far too low. The seats, when switched on, were receiving voltage but it was minimal and varied. I've been having issues recently with my interior lights which haven't been switching when the doors open and i never put the two together but the LED's in my puddle lights must have been the wrong type because they weren't staying on for long and then when i removed them everything started working again. I'm assuming they're all fed off of the same 12v supply and the LED's were drawing to voltage down and not allowing enough to reach other components. Thanks for the help though boys, finally got to the bottom of it!
  11. I buzzed the fuse through and it was fine, i haven't actually noticed if the switches are lit up or not but i'll have a look when i leave work tonight. I haven't yet checked the connectors under the seats, i will do just to rule them out, but they're hugely unlikely to be the problem due to both seats faulting at the same time. Thanks for the suggestions though, i'll give them a go.
  12. Perfect, gives me a starting point for the weekend. Any idea where that is housed?
  13. Oh, that's not good news. Yep, both seats went at the same time. Because of this i assumed there was an issue on the main circuit, the fuse is definitely okay though.
  14. I've been without heated seats since last winter after leaving them on while jump starting the old ladies car. I know they were working the night before & stopped working that day. I've been busy with the last year of my apprenticeship this year but the cold is finally getting to me. So far i've checked the fuse & it doesn't sound as if the relay is energising. I know that the majority of relays are located under the dash which i took apart last night but i'm not sure which one to pull to check it. Does anybody know the relay number or have a diagram of the relay board? The model is a 2006 1.4 16v Elegance. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
