  1. I had a 2001 Arosa then a 2004 Fabia Comfort both with that motor, took the Fabia from 0 to 125,000 miles with no probs. £1600 sounds v v cheap I'd get it checked out to be sure it's not been smacked or anything. JON
  2. mmm strange, the more I see it the more I want it :-) Tinted glass makes all the difference. JON
  3. Nope they were all Classic in 1.4 MPI, 1.4 16v Auto or 1.9 SDI. Wondering if this is a Southern Ireland import? I quite like the Sedan if only for it's quirkiness. Always thought they should have done the 130 PD motor in Sedan and Combi as Laurin&Klement with leather etc. JON
  4. Now I thought that the Fabia 1 Sedan was only available in Classic spec in the UK? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-SKODA-FABIA-COMFORT-8V-BLUE-px-considered-/120703302813?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item1c1a7a3c9d What about this?? JON
  5. I had a Panda Sporting with that engine for a while and although I loathed the car the engine was a corker! JON
  6. Great thanks. The longer we keep this Mk2 the more obvious it becomes that it's not in the same league as the MK1 regarding quality. This is the third serious fault in the first 9000 miles. JON
  7. Hi Chaps, The dash display which should show fuel / mileage/ clock has gone blank on our 2009 Fabia 6v. Has this happened to anybody else? Is there a fuse or multi plug that I can try before kicking off to the dealer? Cheers JON
  8. Yep my Mum got bumped like this when the dealer wouldn't hold on to the car for her to have a 59 plate. JON
  9. Estate is the way to go cos you can get a dog in the boot! Sick of being denied interesting cars owing to lack of boot space :-) JON
  10. Looks lovely, Can't wait to see the new interior because our pre FL 09 plate isn't a patch on our 2002 Elegance in quality if not design. JON
  11. Bloody Hell!!! However it's bound to come with the obligatory £2000+ discount JON
  12. LOL at the bottom of the page they have added a tag for Scoda Felitcia!!!!! JON
  13. Shame that was a nice feature and would have tied the brands model ranges together, it's also the kind of quirky detail which used to make Skodas special. Here speaks a former Felicia Fun owner:-) Early Fabia 1s had really mental seat trim like Streetlife and Starship!! I used to love that. JON
  14. Silly question, but do the headlights on the face lift Fabia have the car's model name embosed in to the headlights in the same way as the FL Octavia and Superb do? JON
  15. Rover Streetwise!!! http://forum.avtoindex.com/foto/data/media/151/rover_streetwise_2003_3.jpg
  16. Very very disappointing! What happened to the black headlights and sexy matt black body kit that was shown on the concept version??? Boring styling inside and out and no bloody diesel!! I so disappointed I'm off to cry myself to sleep :-(( JON
  17. Just studying the pic and it looks like they have changed the rear headrest design so that you don't need to remove them when folding the back seats. JON
  18. The wheel nuts are the same for Fabia's alloy as steel wheels you'll have no probs. JON
  19. I've always wondered about late B5 Passat mirrors with the indicators? Most VW group cars of that era have very similar mirror casings (visually at least). JON
  20. I would think so mine is stamped with the Skoda emblem (Green chicken thingy), but the cars are so closely related that it must be v v similar. JON
  21. I got mine from Skoparts in Poole 01202 722666 I think it was £15. JON
  22. He he your description of the noise is excellent! I used to say my 1.4TDI Mk1 sounded like a hyperactive tractor!! JON
  23. I'm down in Dorset visiting my parents for a few days and used Mum's little Fabia to go from Weymouth to Bournemouth last night (Round trip 90 miles). I currently have a 1.9TDI Elegance Combi as my daily driver and have owned and used a number of Fabia Mk1s since 2002 although they have all been SDI, 1.4TDI or 1.9TDI diesel models I realised as I was setting off that I've never had a decent drive in a petrol Fabia or a Mk2. I had previously been a little predjudiced agaist the MK2 for a number of reasons. Firstly I feel that the Mk1 was an excepionally pretty little car and the styling was so 'right' that it was difficult for Skoda to improve upon it in the 2004 facelift (similar situation for Peugeot when they came to update Pininfarina's beautiful 205). Secondly, the Mk2 has lost some of the originals 'feel good' features for example the mental old school skoda seat fabrics and the way they have moved the bonnet release to the passenger side. Thirdly a friend who's Skoda ownership history surpasses even my own bought a 1.2 Sport to replace his similar spec 07 Mk1 and hated it so much that he traded it for an Octavia TDI after just 3 months. Here are my comparisons Mum's car is a July 09 Fabia 1 6v in white (blue seats) with 15" Alloys, side rubbing strips, glovebox and under seat storage it's now covered 3000 miles. The 1 spec is miles better than the old classic spec in the Mk1 you do not feel that you are in a stripped out base model although they really benefit from alloys and side rubbing strips. The only glaring omission is tinted glass which cheapens the look of the car. Seat trim is great quality and although the 1 has the hard dash it is well put together and doesn't rattle there is a really pleasing lack of blanking plates so you're not constantly reminded that you've bought the cheap version. I have found the comfort of the Mk2 far better than the older car. The seats are firm, well shaped and the driving position is great. I personally like the austere style of the Mk1 dash, but the Mk2s is modern attractive and well laid out. I found the Dance radio excellent for such a cheap car. The ride on 15" wheel was much bouncier than the smooth ride of Mk1s I have used, however, I found the newer car far less likely to understeer (The 1.2 must be far lighter over the front wheels than the heavy diesels I'm familiar with). The 6v engine is a noisy companion at 70mph+ but is a revvy little chap and gives the car a charming utility feel I was amazed at how enjoyable the car was to husstle along reminding me of my old Renault 4 which I loved as a teenager. The car is very nicely put together, but there have been quality issues including a collapse of the under dash sound proofing panel which fell on the pedels as Mum was driving and bust parcel shelp clips. All in all I really enjoyed driving the car, but would probably go for a Roomster if changing my Combi. JON
  24. As I say although the wheels are different sizes the tyre profile ensures that the rolling resistance is the same. There will be no probs using the 14" spare from a series 1 Fabia as far as safety and handling are concerned. Yes Steve that is what i've done. JON
