  1. hi guys, I had a mechanic change my speed sensor but he cut thru the wiring leading from the sensor plug to the loom. He reconnected wiring but got it wrong. I keep getting the same fault code even after resetting (g28-no signal) symptoms with the car are exactly the same as before. The qustion is... Has he blown the new speed sensor. I know 1 of the three wires is a live wire. An auto-electrician reconnected the wiring properly but didnt check the sensor. anybody know if this would have destroyed the new speed sensor (hence the same problem) I have posted 2 previous messages and only got 1 reply. Maybe i have broken etiquette rules and for this i appologise, but help would be appreciated. thanx in advance Mike
  2. hi guys I have finally been able to wire up new speed sensor and cleared the codes but it's still diffucult to start the car. Auto electricion left his vagcom plugged in while i tried to start it. It initially showed "speed sensor-no signal" but when it fired up, the code could be cleared. BTW it starts now without the need for me to use accelerator. I changed 2 glow plugs previously but the glow plug light is still on constantly. There are no probs with the brake lights. Too my untrained mind, it seems that on intial attemp to start the vehicle, something related to the speed sensor needs to warm up. any help would be appreciated Cheers Mike
  3. Hi Guys, Recently had to buy a new speed sensor (g28) for my Octavia 1.9tdi late '04. When the mechanic tried to change the sensor, he damaged the housing that the sensor plugs into ( the one with the 3 female bits). He also damaged the wiring connected to that housing. Now I have gotten hold of the new Housing piece from Volkswagon PN (3d0973703) but it is just the plastic (no wiring or female lugs) Because the old wiring is damaged, i need the housing to be wired with the lugs and have some wiring trailing out from it, so that he can cut and crimp and rejoin the wires that head to the loom. anyone know the colour of wires to pins 1, 2 and three Thx in advance
  4. thx for that, ive now got the correct sensor but the mechanic damaged the connector into which it plugs. I am hoping that he can find a replacement coz Skoda were no help. If all else fails i will get him to look at the wiring. Cheers
  5. i have an octavia 54 plate. Recently the engine management light came on and the glow plug indicator came on and have stayed on ever since. Code said it was Crank shaft sensor on one reader and engine speed sensor on another reader. It is really difficult to start when its hot or cold. Normally cuts out after driving a few miles then difficult to start again. Mechanic (not skoda) tested glow plugs and found that 2 were u/s and changed them. he ordered a crank sensor which turned out to be the wrong one. Skoda have said i need exact part (choice of 2) 036 906 433e or 036 906 433b. All brake lights are working. Mechanic is p**d of and has not given me the existing part number coz he put it all back together. Help pls Mike
