  1. This one for me, sorry it's not the Fabia! My link
  2. Guessing that the Insurance Company doesn't need to know about them too, unlike tints...
  3. I didn't need any spare hog rings when I took the back seat (lower) covers off following my daughter throwing up on them - I just used a set of needle nosed pliers, put the closed 'nose' of the pliers inside each hog ring and slowly opened the pliers out. This stretched the hog rings open without any problems. Did take a while but was well worth doing, as they went in the washing machine and came out immaculate. Was worried about the material so put them on a relatively low heat wash (40 I think!). I then used the pliers to close the hog rings once they were on the metal frame. One day I'll get round to doing the rest of the seats! Just go easy with the hog rings - they are dangerously sharp once opened up!
  4. I don't know about sourcing an A pillar boost gauge pod, but do know of an alternative location for the VRS! If you don't have any luck with the A pillar you could try Skoda Fabia Air Vent Gauge Pod (Option 2) £42.09 VW Accessories & Styling , Worldwide Mailorder and go for an air-vent pod... Being into my Vdubs I've seen these advertised in Performance VW every month for a while now. Don't know anyone whose tried these out, but at least its an option
  5. Sounds like a result to me! My 50K service and Cam-belt Change at a Dealers in Bedford cost me £660, and for that they also lost me my aircon cap, ignored three emails, then told me they had posted the cap three times and it still hasn't arrived. Next service I will be going independant too...
  6. Now why would you want to sell that!? If only I had more garage space.... On my second one now which I've had 11 years so far. Just lately it gets so much attention from other motorists that I have to hide behide sunglasses at times! (like on the slow drive back from Inters '09 at Junction 18 of the M1 carpark!) As a token gesture to the Thread, I had non-standard logo's on my Scirocco's numberplates and got a warning letter from the rozzers, but didn't swap them as I heard that the logo rulings only applied to vehicles registered on/after March 2001! Don't know if that would stand up in court though. Replaced them anyways a few weeks ago ready for the show season as they were looking a bit worn, and just went with the standard plates. Amazing how a new set of plates makes the car look newer!
  7. Nice Motor! But then I am biased having a Scirocco for weekend use and a VRS for the daily commute!
  8. I've had a go at searching but didn't have much luck so apologies if the answers are hidden away on the forum somewhere: Had my Fabia VRS serviced at the local Skoda dealers yesterday and practically fainted when they gave me the bill! The things I had done were: "50K Service - Labour £136 plus VAT Replace Cam Belt and Tensioners - Labour £221 plus VAT Bleed Braking System and Replace with new fluid - Labour £42.50 plus VAT Air Conditioning Service £59.99 plus VAT less Labour Discount (!) -£59.92 (Labour Subtotal £399.57) Repair kit £88.85, Filter £5.20, Brake Fluid £6.93, Cleaner £2.80, Sump Plug £1.14 and PD 5/30 Oil £51.96 (all plus VAT) (Parts Subtotal £156.88) Total Cost inc VAT £639.92 ! - Is that normal for a main dealers? If so I don't think I'll be going again! I booked it in there as I was pleasantly surprised at how cheap parts seemed compared to my other car (VW) and stupidly didn't get a service quote beforehand. Also, is the VRS "PD" oil darker than normal oils?! I know the dipstick is darker than on my other car making the oil look dirtier to start with, but at first I thought it hadn't been changed! Finally, should the silver metal 'thing' to the right of the dipstick above the radiator fan in the (hopefully) attached photo have something screwed into it! I've only had the car a few months but have never noticed it before, and it just looks like something has fallen off! Thanks in advance!
