  1. Hi Gerard You can retrofit a black leather armrest to a vRS - it costs around
  2. I have often found the owner of phone numbers by typing them into the search line of a search engine like Google UK. This especially works well with companies numbers. Happy Hunting!!! Steve (on holiday in India- sadly reading Briskoda = as missing home and my vRS!!!)
  3. You can see pictures of my satnav install on the following post:- http://www.briskoda.net/forums/showthread.php?postid=25287#post25287
  4. Right - I think I can now give you the details of what you need to order. As I said before, my dealer made a right mess up of the parts ordering for the armrest. They were fantastic at putting it right though and we got there in the end!!! The actual parts you require are 67a, 67b, 67c, 67d, 68a, 68b, 69, 70, 75, 76, 77 and 78 - on the EKTA parts catalogue drawing You do not need any other parts on that drawing Parts 67a,b,c and d are actually ordered as one part - for a vRS with a black leather interior you need part number 3B0864209N with Trim Code LUL - this is already made up of the parts 67a-d and costs a whopping
  5. The check engine light (CEL) will come on if the ECU detects either intermittent or permanent faults in the engine management system. If there is a permanent fault the CEL will stay on every time you turn on the ignition - until you take your car to the dealer to get it fixed. Depending on the fault, the engine management may also implement a "limp home" mode that may limit maximum revs to say 3000rpm - until the fault is fixed. For intermittent faults (like misfires) the ECU logs the fault and starts a fault counter. After a certain time or after turning on and off the ignition, if the fault is not present the ECU turns off the CEL and resets the counter to zero. The above is generic information that applies to car ECUs - each manufacturer - Bosch, Sagem, Magnetti Marelli & Siemens implements the above in various ways (also the car manufacturer also discusses with the ECU manufacturer, which regime to implement) Steve
  6. See also the bonnet shut line - I darent open the bonnet - as the wing is tight up against the edge, under pressure. If I open it, I probably wont be able to shut it again!!! Steve
  7. You would be surprised at the damage Look at the side view - inner wing protector damaged Steve
  8. Rob Plus a new wheel, inner wing protector, indicator light etc. etc!!!! Steve
  9. Below is picture of my 3 month old vRS - after a friendly Austrian gentleman!!! suddenly decided to turn right from the left hand lane at a roundabout. Luckily he admitted full responsibility to me and the police (in a written statement) Quote to repair is
  10. Go for it - you know it makes sense!!! (I did) Steve

  12. **** , I totally forgot about the side airbags when i fitted my front seat covers. My wife regularly uses my car on her commute from mid-Wales to Liverpool (170 miles per day!!!) and being a chocaholic and crisp eater on this long journey - i wanted to protect the light coloured seats from staining. I have had the covers in the car for a few months without thinking about the airbag implications!!! I suppose I will have to take them out now! Steve
  13. Quinten - why only clean for 10 minutes? Oh - I remembered - it's Black!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Steve
  14. Stupid question - if one goes wrong - how do you know which one to change at the side of the road??? Steve
  15. Quinten I will be at Oulton Park on Saturday - as my wife is working there. My car should be parked in the medical centre compound - next to the ambulances!!! By all means give me a shout! Steve
  16. I have recently fitted an armrest to my vRS - eventually with a leather top (to match the seats) It was really difficult to get all the correct parts from the dealer - despite help from Skoda UK. The first armrest that arrived had a cloth top. The dealer reordered a leather top - but got a whole new armrest (with the leather top already fitted) As the front profile of both armrests were different, you could not just change the top - so had to take the first armrest out and replace it with the new one!!!!! Once you have the metal brackets bolted into the car, the actual armrest itself is fairly easy to change - luckily!! As I have SatNav fitted - I did not have a cubby hole to put things in beneath the radio - so I really needed an armrest to store the phone, remote control (for SatNav), sunglasses etc. At least with the VAG armrests you have a choice of positions - and in the lowest position I dont find that it gets in the way of the gear change (although it is more awkward to use the handbrake) Steve
  17. As the dump valve (BOV) is actually hidden by the plastic engine cover - it does not really matter what colour you get on a vRS (or other 1.8T engined car) This is a high quality metal dump valve that replaces the standard (cheaply made) plastic Bosch one. I had one fitted at the same time as my vRS was Jabba'd! Steve
  18. My wife is the trackside doctor at Oulton Park on the 20th (and possibly 21st) - so I should be there on that day!!! Steve
  19. What do you call a deer with no eyes, no legs and no ****? Still no f*****g eye deer!!!!
  20. I have just cancelled my Norwich Union Insurance - that was due to run out on 2nd January. They have just sent me a refund cheque for
  21. Mellowyellow There are loads of speed cameras in Mid-Wales - My wife just had a nice letter from the Safety Camera Partnership to prove it!!!! They tend to be white vans with a modified rear window that winds down. A little man with a moustache sits in the back and operates his laser thingy to catch speeding innocent motorists. On a 60 limit my wife is alleged to have been doing 70mph - so there is not as much leeway as with a normal traffic car (speed limit + 10mph in Powys) So beware - we have some fantastic roads in Mid- Wales, the sheep are very friendly - but speed cameras are very active!!!!!! Steve
  22. You just forgot the Beetle on the Golf/Leon line!!! (Mind you, the Beetle is pretty forgetable!!!) Steve
  23. Hi Adrian Remap is great - except getting small overboost problems on light throttle - especially when the engine is cold. You can hear and feel the dump valve releasing pressure at around 3000 rpm On full throttle it is fantastic - especially 2nd & 3rd gear. I will need to contact Mike to let him tweak out the overboost problem. How is yours going? Steve
  24. Leon They sprayed the trim on the car - without removing it. The bumper trims are clipped on and it is better to remove the bumpers to get them off. The side trims are stuck on with double sided stick - and these are difficult to remove and put back on. For the above reasons myself and the sprayer decided to leave the trims on and spray them in-situ. The original trims have a textured finish - but I decided to have them smoothed flat before spraying. The results are very good Cost -
