  1. I have a 2002 Octavia with the colume and scan controls on the steering wheel. My question is if I can buy a stereo that will maintain the function of those buttons. (I want to fit it myself) Any advice greatfully recieved. Regards tony
  2. Hi Guys, I was away for the weekend so did not try those suggestions. I was confused as all the lights were fine and the unlocking etc but when I tried last night the central locking was not working and the interior lights were dim so I knew right away the battery was an issue. Thanks for all your suggestions
  3. My 2001 Skoda octavia tdi 4x4 will not start. this morning when we turned the key almost nothing happened, only a click under the hood. I tried again tonight and saw the starter motor was turning slowly but nothing was happening. see here http://youtu.be/YAoC0_ZshZg I am not sure how clear that is but the electric motor (I assume is the started motor) is turning but the engine is not firing. Anyone know what might be wrong and most importantly how big a job it is likely to be. The thermostat was replaced recently but it ran fine for a week after that. Thanks in advance Tony.
  4. I appreciate your answer but I would really like to understand what and why my car should have. How can I find out of I have a PD engine? Cause if I have a PD engine I should go for 5W40 which is VW 505 01 / 505 00 / 502 00

  6. I have a 2002 Skoda Octavia TDi 4x4 (First registered in Switzerland in 11/2002.) motorcode ESW 9102 20 74KW ATD According to the Halfords page I need 5w30 if I have PD engine, 5w40 if I have not got PD engine but do have variable service and 5W40 if I do not have PD engine but have fixed service. How do I find out if I have PD engine or not and if I don't how do I find out if I have variable service? With Pd Eng (from 01\2001 to 12\2002) -5W40 W/o Pd Eng Variable Serv (from 01\2001 to 12\2004) - 5W30 W/o Pd Eng Fixed Service (from 01\2001 to 12\2004) - 5W40
