  1. hi boys and girls, havin a few probs with my car still, finally got the revving sorted, ended up with a new waterpump, cambelt and acc peddle.. not cheap! but my steering light keeps coming on, and headlights flicker, also steering goes heavy and then really light at times. im thinking it could be the steering angle sensor, as ive read it so many times on other forums. just thinking i should bite the bullet and replace it, rather than pay dealer to mess around again!! so im after one if anyone has one they want rid of. please let me know!! cheers
  2. to be honest i havent got a clue,i never knew what one was until yesterday haha! im still waiting for skoda to ring me with a price, so i will ask when they call them if its a fly by wire one. sounds pretty easy to fit if its a couple of bolts and a connector. ill see what price they come back with, if its a silly price ill see if there is a way i can find out if urs will fit and let you know if that ok. if it will fit ill defo have it, how much would u want for it incl P&P? cheers
  3. hi, my skoda fabia was in the skoda garage yesterday as its hunting for revs and my heaters dont work. i recently changed the throttle body as they told me to, which made no difference, and now they are saying its the water pump and have quoted £375 for water pump, cam belt and labour. now they are saying i also need a new throttle pedal but couldnt give me a price on this yesterday, so was just wandering how expensive this would be to buy and fit? cheers
  4. interesting, cheers lehto, ill mention that to the garage on wed when it goes in. due to the other minor probs im having with the car im convinced its an electrical prob anyway. will let u know how i get on! cheers
  5. cheers for all ur advice guys, ill just see wat they say when it gets back on the ramps, i unfortunatly cant return the part i ordered as it was ordered specific for my car, but i might do as suggested and swap back old part and sell new one on fleebay and try and get some money back on that. ill just be glad to get it sorted as i love the car, i just hope im not damaging anything else driving it as it is!
  6. hi, ill try to be breif, i bought second hand 1.4 16v W reg fabia. since i had it the car is hunting and has an erratic idle. also power steering light keeps coming on. i went to an independant garage who cleaned throttle body and sensors, also did a diagnostics which was clear and checked all my earth cables which are fine, so as a last resort i paid skoda an hours labour to look at the car. mechanic came back and said it was the throttle body that needed replacing and that the steering light was due to low battery and would stop on its own. they quoted £447 for throtte to be fitted inc labour. so i scourced the part brand new myself for £230 and had it fitted by a mechanic friend for free. and still no joy. i went back to skoda who said it needed resetting, which they did there and then free of charge, but still no joy. they have admitted that they diagnosed it wrong and have agreed to look at the car in detail again next week. so my question is where do i stand on trying to get back the money i spent on a part i didnt need!! although i didnt have it fitted by skoda, the problem remains that i paid for the part based on their incompetent diagnosis! has anyone else had this problem, if so how did u get dealt with, i know i dont have much of a leg to stand on as the car is out of warranty, but i still have a broken car, and £230 less in my bank! any advice is much appreciated
  7. yeh ive had a few things tried already, throttle body has been cleaned, airflow pipes checked, diagnostics came back clear, earth wires checked and a few other things i cant remember. so as a last resort i went to skoda.
  8. hi, i took my W reg skoda fabia 1.4 16v in to skoda today to be looked at, as i have an erratic idle and the car is hunting. ive only owned the car 6days!! but love it so much im willing to fork out to repair it rather than take it back to the rat who sold it me. to cut a long story short, ive been told i need a new throttle body at the price of £440 inc, but i want to buy a new one from ebay and get it fitted elsewhere. can anyone help me with a part number, or where to look for one on the car. also any estimates on how much a private garage will charge to fit, or should i bite the bullet and just pay skoda to do it? thanks for any help in advance.
  9. hi im new, just thought id say hello, im on here to see if i can get help with my car as ive owned it less than a week n its got no end of problems, but i love the car, also trying to scource a parcel shelf! fiona x
