  1. I got my wife and I a £1.99 screen cover from Aldi which we put on the night before (checking forecast for frost). They double as heat reflectors in the summer too. Prevention is better than cure in this case, screens completely clear in the morning.
  2. Since taking delivery of my Superb 1.9 tdi SE (no mod’s apart from wood inserts) in May 2009 I have had an intermittent problem whereby the indicators just don’t work. They don’t flash or light up. It’s as if I haven’t moved the indicator stalk at all. The problem only seems to happen when it’s cold out but not always. I don’t remember it ever happening in warm weather. This leads me to believe it’s something to do with the indicator stalk switch itself. I had a dealer near Oxford (Northampton Autohaus Skoda went bust) look at it but all they did was plug it into the diagnostic machine which showed no errors. To be fair to them though they did offer to have it over night while they try and witness the problem but I hadn’t the time. The car is due its first service soon and I wondered if this is a common problem and if anyone knew what a common remedy was.
  3. I have the 1.9 105bhp in an SE model and would add that if you are used to a more powerful turbo-diesel then you may be dissapointed with it. However, I moved from an Astra 1.8 petrol to the Superb 1.9 105 bhp and can honestly say that acceleration wise (with correct gear changes) I am not disspointed. The Acceleration at the top end of the rev range obviously dies away but for normal sort of overtaking, I have no complaints. As many others have suggested though, all the comments, including my own are only subjective. You really need a long test drivein varying traffic conditions.
  4. I drove a 1.4 PD TDi (3 cyl) 80 bhp for a week while awaiting delivery of my Superb and whilst I found it spacious (for a small car) and quite fun to drive compared to a petrol (torquey TD etc.) the noise of the engine was very noticeable and would have really got to me after a while. My Superb has the 1.9 PD TDI 105 bhp enginer which although not very refined compared to the new CR diesels, it is so much more quiet than the Fabia I drove. May be to do with better sound-proofing or something.

  7. I've now had the car a few days and must say I am not dissapointed. Like most might say, it ain't fast by any means but to me it doesn't feel under-powered and since losing my fuel allowance, it suits my style of driving. From the outside, it sounds a little noisy compared with perhaps CR diesel engines but the soundproofing is very good and makes for a reasonably quiet drive. Finally the build quality. This is my first Skoda, even to drive and although I know it is only a few days old, it does feel much better than my last two cars (Astra TwinTop and Vectra before that). When closing doors etc. it just feels solid even compared to the TwinTop doors which had to be strengthened due to the convertable top. Yes, so far I am very pleased
  8. Thanks. You're welcome. What spec. are you getting Hasse?
  9. Thanks for the comments guys. Well used to the steep drive. I used to drive a Vauxhall Astra and before that a Vectra with their dodgy handbrakes etc. First gear always engaged before leaving the car

  11. ... and after only a few miles, I do love it! I will take some pics and post them soon.
  12. Picked up the new car with mudflaps all round today. Glad I had them.
  13. There's nothing like a bit of intelligent debate!
  14. Sent them an email this morning stating my dissapointment in delay and that the Octavia has them as standard etc.
  15. I could try although it would be taking the Pi## slightly as I have already scabbed floor mats FOC and got the courtesy car for a week FOC too:O
  16. I shall bring along my fine toothed comb when going to collect it
  17. ....and if Yes, rear and front? New Superb due in one week and I was thinking of having them fitted by the dealer. Obviously they offer protection from mud, stone chip etc. but are there any disadvantages (apart from a small increase in fuel useage)? What are your thoughts?
  18. Update: Car will be ready for next Friday / Saturday The Fabia is suprisingly spacious for a small car
  19. Well my current car gets collected tomorrow and I was originally expecting my new SE would be ready for collection this Saturday. Unfortunately there was a delay in shipping so I'm not sure when it's going to come (maybe another week or two?). I'm told it was shown as shipped the beginning of this week. It was going to be a nightmare as I thought a rental might be required. However, after a bit of whinging the dealer has sorted me out with a lovely little Fabia to keep me going 'til mine comes, I pick it up tomorrow evening. So although I'm disappointed in the delay, I'm quite pleased wth the dealer providing me with the run-around:)
  20. Sorry to go a bit OT here but how long after taking receipt of the car can you reject it?
  21. I should pick up my new Superb soon and knowing me will wash n' wax it and apply some Mer polish to it regularly until the novelty wears off and then it will only get a wash n' wash about once a month. With this in mind I thought having some Diamondbrite (or similar) proffesionally applied from new (or soon after) would be a good idea. Thing is I have read some nightmare stories about so-called valetters applying such products in a less than satisfactory way. Can anybody recommend a company in Northampton / Northants who could supply and apply this stuff without me having to take out a second mortgage? I know some might say just keep up regular care but I just know what I am like TIA.
  22. I think in a roundabout sort of way he's trying to say that as the mod is virtually undetectable, the warrenty and insurance won't matter as they won't ever know? Think I am right in saying that :confused:
  23. "Invested in a little more power" Please do go on:) What kinda investment was it, how much power etc. Ay thoughts about insurance / warrenty etc?
