Wow, old thread but still here.....its a new engine. In fact my vrs threw its timing chain and needed a new engine.

All sorts can be changed, esp if you dont have maxidot. Seat belt alarm, corner fogs, tear drop wipe etc..
-
Did you notice the digital speed on the maxidot?

Congrats on your new car!

I know this thread is quite old, I got my Octavia from them in 2009. Not very good coms, sold the car even though the alarm kept going off and I later found out the alloys had been refurbed before I took collection (warranty repair refused). I also had an issue with the steering wheel having indentations in the leather and told it was a natural product. Also the small dealer in Walton also closed, they were rubbish and never got back to me and I tried to by a car.

Yep all standard.

Hi all. Twice now in as many weeks, when pulling away it goes from 1st to D with NO drive, then jumps into 2nd and all is well. I have had the oil done at about 30k, the car has done about 45k. No other symptoms, I do have the extended warranty, the car is 9 years old. Is this the mechnatronic unit? Anyone experienced this and do you think it would be a warranty item? If not, cost??! Thanks for any info.

How old is the battery? If its around 5 years might need replacing. -
Nope! There is no wifi.

Scout 2011 - Sudden Fail to Start! - Any ideas?
m0bov replied to Buteo's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Again for me, duff battery. I changed mine to a bigger Bosch 096 for my petrol. I did this when it reached 5 years as thats when they mostly start going. i would have checked a new battery in anyway. -
Advice about service history on my new VRS FL TSI DSG
m0bov replied to Lozb's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
Suggest you get Coils done at the same time, often changing the plugs can then induce a fault with the coil(s) at a later date. -
Just do a soft reset, quite common. Hold down the next/previous track buttons and the eject I think. Or might be the speech button.

That will be corrected with a machine polish. Maybe try local detailer.

MK2 VRS 2.0TSI, should i be worried?
m0bov replied to The1stlegend's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk II (2004 - 2013)
P.S I have not heard of the 5 year thing, they just guage each case, have you owned from new, how much of a case you have, extended warranty etc.. In my case they tried to tell me I was told not to drive it when I first reported a start up rattle. They short themselves in the foot as they could not back any of it up. -

Might be worth contacting your credit card provider. I was in the same boat as you about 3 years ago, lucky I got the engine for free when the (skoda) extended warranty company told me it was an inherent fault and so would not cover it. I told Skoda this and then suddenly got a call from Skoda to offer me a FOC engine. The lady wouldn't say who she was. Skoda knew about it back then, but they will never admit it. You will need to get it repaired, then claim the cost back via small claims court. -
As it was an inherent fault, then the supermarket should have helped towards the cost.

they quoted 1 1/2 L of coolant, so assume thats what they will do.
-
local indy will swap it and fill with fresh oem coolant £70 all in so will get that done.

Hi, it is there is nothing else around it. It might have been like that for a while, I did have a new engine fitted about2 1/2 years ago but not noticed it then. I was giving the engine bay a clean round.
