  1. oh wow thats my old car! what a shame.. was a beast
  2. Bought this from a local auction, was too good to turn down! Needs a few things doing to it to get it into good running order, nothing major though :-) Did buy it to sell on initially but after having owned one about a year ago, I've always regretted selling that and this ones better spec'd as in Xenon lights + Heated seats which I know is quite rare on a 2004 VRS. I'd like to know if anyone knows anything about the car, always interested in finding out about a cars history... It was a company car upto 2010 with full Skoda history but the 2nd owner hasn't had the book stamped (either that or hasnt had the car serviced ). He was from Barnsley/Wakefield area. Any help welcome! Its good to be back.
  3. another identical one to mine in the same area... apart from that, not many.
  4. Hi, did a search and spent some time going through a few topics to no avail, basically the Fabia needs a new sump! Having looked at a few online, I can see they're either with or without bore for oil level sensor. Which one will be right for my car? (2005 Fabia VRS ASZ) Or is it a dealer job to find out if my car has a oil sensor in the sump? Thanks.
  5. they come through auctions under CC Trade Sales or UK Car Group - most of them will be damaged or have lots of faults.
  6. I did get a full diagnostics which is why all those parts were changed, they were all faulty. The problem is that the power steering was cured but started getting heavier again until today it seems to have completely given up. I guess the battery and alternator will be the next thing to check. Thanks for the write up.
  7. great article, helps me alot as I've had so many problems but they continue. I replaced the pump which was faulty, angle sensor AND then the steering rack which seemed to cure the problem. However, one week later and now it seems the steerings getting heavier again (no power steering light) but the pump is trying to work, but it just won't (lights dim considerably when turning)? I'm at my wits end now and just thinking of throwing the car into a local auction as I've spent too much time and effort with no end result. could anyone point me to the right direction?
  8. my previous car (Ibiza TDI Sport 130) had ESP and it saved me once in the pouring rain on a motorway where the back end just started to slip out but the ESP kicked in and it just straightened with minimal effort from me. Surprised to hear it wasn't standard on a Fabia VRS.
  9. We once sold a ML270 and was asking £5000 for it. Some private buyers turned up and started hagging for half hour, they only wanted to give £4500 and we wanted £4800 minimum. Whilst they were still haggling, some trader turned up from London who exports the cars to another european country, he checked the car and gave us £5000 there and then. now the other buyers were angry with us for letting the trader buy it because "we came to see the car first". But the fact was they didn't want to pay the asking price. In a final twist, they offered £5100 but the hand had been shook and the deal was done They had to travel back 200 miles with no car bought. edit: btw, looks like you do have a timewaster on your hands. there are people who simply can't say "NO sorry, i don't want the car anymore."
  10. I had a similar problem with my Ibiza last year, it would start... then the power steering light came on and had no power steering... and then it wouldn't start! It used to start with jump leads but after a few weeks it kept doing it, i took it to the garage and it was a faulty alternator. It wouldn't charge the battery very well and the PAS pump uses battery power which wasn't getting delivered. So I would get the alternator checked!
  11. yep i hope it isnt, although my power steering light didn't come on.
  12. does sound like the pump to me, as my car is throwing up similar codes (2005 VRS), my mechanic says its a very common fault on these as he's done loads!
  13. yep my Fabias got full milltek with de-cat so i'll post up a video soon once the rain stops.
  14. with a bit more research, i think i may have answered my own question. "6R0 423 156 B IS THE BRAND NEW PART NUMBER FROM VW REPLACES 6Q0 423 156 AB"
  15. I've got a 2005 Fabia VRS and Skoda gave me the part number as 6R0 423 156 B (at a cost of £669.35) so obviously i've been looking around but the only pumps i can find are part number 6Q0 423 156 AB... but they're from 04-56 VRS's?! they are all TRW electric pumps aswell. so should i be looking for 6R0 or will the 6Q0 work fine?! does anyone know? Thanks in advance
  16. 2000 VW Polo 1.0 - first car, did the job but 18 seconds to 60 says it all 2003 Ibiza TDI 130 - loved every minute of driving it but too many little niggling problems 2002 Bora TDI 130 - had so many creature comforts but alas, insurance wanted too much when renewal time came around 2005 Fabia VRS - ain't even driven it yet, still in the garage getting fixed... looks nice tho
  17. yep thanks for all help, the garage said it was the pipes from the intercooler to the turbo, someones been at it before and done a very botched job, basically it needs new pipes. the really bad news is the power steering does not work (the light is not on), so i guess its the pump thats gone there :( but its my little project and hope to have it on the road by the end of next week  edit: does anyone know if any power steering pump from the range of fabias will work? or are they different for the VRS? :S
  18. yeah thats not the Furby that I've bought, I just carried on from the same topic lol I do have a soft spot for Polo GTI's but I need a diesel! :( I've marked the pipe that was botched with tape in the picture below, any idea what it does?
  19. Thanks for the list vindaloo. I checked the engine bay and one of the pipes had some dodgy tape stuck around it, it looked very botched. Going to pick it up tomorrow morning, will be dropped off to a friends garage for a proper look and the MOT. Cost just over £2700 but I expect that figure to rise quite quickly! :|
  20. right the day came but they withdrew the VRS from the sale :( oh well... fast forward a week and i've just bought another from an auction today its a 2005 VRS with 98k. Skoda SH upto 60 but then its patchy... it was chucking out black smoke when accelerating hard and that put many people off.. but not me! I'm hoping its something simple, picked it up dirt cheap but it needs a few hundred spending on it to bring it back upto mint. Needs MOT/tax, some body repair, servicing etc. Got around £1k to spend on it now Any ideas what the smoke could mean? and how to get rid of the stains on the seats.. they've gone black (thats how bad it is).
  21. I saw a glimpse of it today whilst i was at the auction and searched for it online when i got home. It's going through next week so i'm going to do a bit more digging and i should be able to access the car a few days before the auction. If it doesn't start straightaway then I guess it could be a faulty battery. My previous Ibiza 130 had the power steering light come on and would rarely start but it was the alternator (around £100 to get it sorted). Hopefully some documents will come through in terms of service history but I'll be able to check all the usual turbo, gearbox, clutch and general engine stuff. I want it because its got full leather! lol
  22. Hi, i've been on the forum for a long time but just recently stepped up a search for a Fabia VRS So far, i've tried looking at the usual places but not finding one which suits me. Then one came along at an auction house which is going through next week, I went to have a closer look today. Here are the auction pictures: Seeing as its modified from the outside, I reckon it might have been someone from here? its a YD06 done 51k. The problem is that currently the power steering light, the glow plug light and engine management lights are all on. What could this mean? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  23. don't have a VRS but I had an Ibiza TDI 130 (pretty much the same) and tried it on with an old S3.... didn't know what hit me! they are pretty fast... obviously
  24. hi new member here from Bradford on the lookout for a Fabia VRS im an asian from bradford and i dont think theres anything racist about it, these idiots have pushed up all our insurance, my insurance should be going down but it goes up every year even with no claims discount :( i'm still lucky because i have friends who have 1.0, 1.3's and are paying £2000 every year just for insurance! their cars arent even worth that much!
