  1. The student's union in the uni would probably be able to sort something,or else it's the accommodations office, tell her go in there and explain whats happening, most colleges would take it up if you drop the "bullying" card. A friend of mine had to go up in front of a board because he was going out with a girl, and then decided he liked her housemate better,so boned her instead. original girlfriend said that his presence in the house was "upsetting and intimidating" towards her to the student union and they brought him up in front of a board and grilled him,and that is off the word of one person,if a few get together with a coordinated complaint it will probably work. Though apparently jealous ex girlfriends are very good at using this route and they get a bit sick of it! Them pranks suck too,the subtle ones are the best, like the bisto in the shower head.
  2. I thought the B+E licence allows you to pull the max weight of the car + the max rated weight of the trailer, provided the max trailer weight is less than the max towing capacity of the car Whereas the B licence only allows you a max train weight of 3500 kilos? I pull started a defender 110,which was towing a 700kg trailer with my octavia, poor Skoda. I've also seen an octi hatch towing a SWB trooper on a trailer down the road,I think that it was a bit much My advice for towing is to use something RWD or a 4x4,they feel a lot more planted on the road compared to a fwd car. With a trailer you are aiming to have the weight towards the front,so it puts pressure on the rear of the towing car, which takes weight off the front of the tow car,it makes it very easy to break traction with the driving wheels, also hitting a bump could make it break traction.
  3. Hello and welcome from the south coast! I don't post here much but lurk the whole time,it's a great forum
  4. Whats with these "stancers' driving with their whole arm dangling out the window?
  5. What happens if you bring a UK car to the ROI and are an ROI resident you have to register it here within a month. You have to pay VRT (vehicle registration tax). The octavia is a UK spec elegance, you can't get the elegance or L&K model here in the mk1 octy. The car will be pretty much the same, maybe with a lower spec, because everyone here is tight and buys the base model. it's less likely to have any rust as the roads are rarely salted. It's not unusual for people here to go to the UK to buy a car as they are cheaper and a better spec.
  6. My Pajero is an auto,it does feel a bit slushy, but after 2.5 years i've learnt to drive it properly, and after 80 km/h the torque converter locks up and its a direct drive then. I've only recently been looking into a switch to lock the torque converter on demand,so when pulling a trailer up a hill it doesn't make the revs go too high to stay in the torque band. And offroad it is very good, lock it in 1st for going down hills, and it just sails down them. Only thing is with mud is the turbo comes onto boost a little strong and ends up spinning the wheels. And being an auto you don't know if the engine revs are going up because the engine is under load,or because the wheels are spinning
  7. I'm JimmyW on there too,I've a white Jap SWB. I used have an octavia 3 years ago,but sold it to my mother and got a pajero a small while later. My housemate had an RVF 400 but it got robbed a few months ago,t'was a lovely bike too. I had a YZ125 for a while too, that was great craic!
  8. Thats a lovely looking bike! Still really tempted to get one myself too Are you the same flood thats on POCUK too?
  9. Hope this hasn't been posted before
  10. I've a 2001 non turbo Scoob,it's great fun and pretty standard,I feel the ride is a lot better than the octy, and theres less wind noise. The scoob is great fun to drive and very good fun to throw round corners, but the amount of fuel it uses is shocking and i find myself not wanting to go past the 3000 rpm mark, but it's torquey enough to pull from about 2300rpm which is fine for driving twisty roads pretty fast without drinking much fuel. However the octavia is a great car to be in,it feels much better built, and offers much more to play with than the impreza, and it does handle fairly well for a big heavy car,but can't be compared to an impreza, although i've never driven a 4x4 octy so i don't know how that grips the road. All I can say is I love both cars, and they both have pros and cons to weigh up
  11. When I was in school the last few days before the summer were always spent playing pranks, one of the best i've seen is when some of the older lads came in early and built a pillar out of concrete bolcks in the middle of the front gate. It didn't leave a trace one it was removed even though cement was used to hold it to the ground. Another would be to put his car in the free ads paper or the auto trader for 1000 less than the going rate, and leave his number. . . That will never get old
  12. One of my less intelligent friends : "Hey,lads, whats the number for 11850?"
  13. Fair play for that,i spotted a Fabia vrs estate in there in the july issue, wonder when a fabia will have a full article to it's self. . . .
  14. Different Steve Coogan character had a Mustang though wasn't it? :P
  15. I bought myself a car last week, and 36 miles after leaving the dealer it broke down, and he didn't seem too interested about it,so a letter to trading standards is in the pipelines,he also said he has done the clutch which is more B.S.
  16. It would save a whole lot of hastle and research just to mosie on down to your local shop and get a wee litte box of them :P
  17. "When this baby hits 88mph. . . . " etc. etc. :P Going back in time? OR. . was the tide really far out and you were on the beach??
  18. Our priest told us that one in mass once, then read into it because it's his job :P
  19. I have, twice! Once in my Mams Ignis doing 60 round a gentle bend when someone pulled out, gently onto the brakes and did a bit of a slide but it gained traction pretty quickly Second time was in my jimny with a set of mud terrains on,driving through the school carpark, which is that smooth tarmac cycle tracks are made out of,admittedly a was going a bit fast, spotted that teacher that is always complaining about the student drivers so i changed my direction a bit too quick and braked at the same time, sending me into waterlogged grass, lucky for the mud terrains, otherwise i'd be a bit stuck, but wouldn't have happened if i had tyres with rain groves. . . .and that teacher complained about me too
  20. . . .The job centre queue!! I'm guessing it looked sort of like this . . . YouTube - FamilyGuy - Clevland Thats Nasty
  21. Thats crazy,i want one for my college accommodation!
  22. Oh dear!! Bit of an old one though :P
  23. Too right! They look at you but don't acknowledge that you're there Only gripe i have with thomann is that some of their website is in a strange mix of German and English:P
  24. Try Thomann or musicstore,They would probably do a gibson one that is priced well,or their own brand one, which probably isn't bad. i got a softcase for an acoustic from them and i can say that its better than a ritter one i have for a bass. And if it doesn't fit too well the customer service in thomann are very helpful
