  1. The pads are pretty new and i took the other rear wheel off to check it in case i was hearing it on the wrong side and it turned out the other disc is in a pretty bad way. It has a pretty bad concave and very bad rusting to the outer 25mm the whole way round. How much am i looking at for a new disc?
  2. Hey i have an 03 fabia estate and there is a bit more noise than i am happy with from the rear o/s brakes. It does the usual rust grinding noise when moving off but more of a worry is the noise under heavy braking. When braking hardish from 50 or 60 down to stopped (also sometimes happens to a lesser extend under normal firm braking) i get a rythmic groan or grinding noise, almost like a really bad flat spot on the tyre. I am thinking it must be a warped disc but when i took the wheel off the hub spins pretty evenly and the disc does not look the victim of overheating or a sticking caliper. That said there is a little bit effort required to turn the hub but nothing major. Any ideas or should i take the disc off to get it checked/surfaced? Many thanks
  3. Hey, i am desperatly trying to get the rear interior door trim /panel off my 03 fabia and am almost there. I have the panel flapping with all screws and cl;ips out but i can not free it at the top! I have tired a good old tug upwards as described on some posts, but am nervous about really busting it. Can anyone describe in more detail than 'just pull it up' , how to do this last bit, any guidance much appreciated
  4. Hi i recently bought an 03 fabia estate but it didn't some with any jack/ wrench. could someone please tell me if the jack kit form the hatchback will also fit the estate or is it different? Cheers
  5. thanks for the reply but i was hoping someone had found normal clip on type bars to fit??
  6. I have an 03 fabia estate without roof rails went to halfords but it seems that there are no feet & cross bars to fit my car? Anyone found bars to fit?? Cheers
  7. i'm a newbie but will stick my neck out anyway to say until there is some sort of worthwhile incentive for car drivers to improve their skills and or awareness then they will generally speaking always be less aware and keen to improve their driving than your average motorcyclist who constantly need to be ultra-aware of careless car drivers. That said the idiots who filter through medium paced traffic and or overtake like lunatics are stupid. But i have had many car drivers look me right in the eyes and still pull out in front of me.
  8. First up Hi to y'all and kudos on this excellent site. I have just got myself an 03 1.9 tdi fabia estate. It has 74K on the clock and a full skoda service history, it is due a service in a couple of months and checking the history the timing belt has never been changed. What mileage should it be done at? Also if i do need it done at this service is there anything else i should get done while they are in there as i plan to keep this car for the long term so would spend a few quid extra for extra care and attention. Cheers
