  1. I'm sure they'll come in very handy in the middle east!
  2. Interesting, thanks guys. I've got a wedge to spend on courses so there's a lot to think about. I've got my C+E and hazmat so could always fall back on some trucking but fancy something a little more challenging. I'd rather stay away from the static guard stuff ie building sites, tescos etc. I remember when I was a kid terrorising the guards on the local site just for laughs so not sure I'd fancy a bit of my own medicine Funny thing is, a lot of the younger lads were all for the Tories a few years ago when they said about doubling the op tour bonus. I'm slightly older and remember the days of the Iron Lady so took it all with a pinch of salt. Turns out, yes they did double the bonus and give us some great kit but no good to you when they say, thanks but you won't be needing it anymore!!! The biggest kick in the teeth is the constant army recruiting ads on tv. God help anyone joining up now!!!
  3. Thanks guys, looking for more the ship/personal security stuff. Im currently in an army aviation role but have done plenty of tours and been out on the ground. Police is off as I was a naughty boy many many moons ago-shame, I'd of jumped at the chance. Will be going ahead with SIA as part of my resettlement package, I've heard there's plenty of dodgy firms out there so hoping to avoid these. Again, cheers for the info guys, I'm looking at it from a good perspective-fresh start!
  4. Hi people got made redundant from the armed forces yesterday and looking into getting into the security sector. Anyone on here in that game? Anything I should know before training? Came as a bit of a shock so any help would be great, thanks.
  5. About time there was something going on in my neck of the woods.
  6. Now these are seriously sexy!! But I admit I'm a carbon tart!!!
  7. Used to use Yokohama many moons ago ( boy racer days ) always found them to be the best tyres ever in terms of grip but that comes at price-they never seem to last too long due to the very sticky, soft compound. Things may have changed these days but I spoke to a local tyre guy a couple of weeks ago as I looked at the paradas for my octy and he said they hang on and on grip wise but don't expect many miles out of them.
  8. Well a week in and I'm feeling pretty happy with the 453's. not bad in the wet but now the roads are drying up they seem pretty good. A little light on the front at higher speeds but hang on well in the corners at speed. The back end feels really planted with hardly any sidewall flex. Not had a chance to test on standing water but the grooves seem good so can't see it being a huge issue. For the money you can't go wrong IMO. Hopefully they'll get even better once properly bedded in.
  9. No probs Raf_. They seem quite a sticky compound compared to the other stuff they had in, nice deep water channels so should cope well with this mental weather were having!
  10. Local garage helped me out ( for cash ) 20 quid, fitting and coding. Just look for a small local with the kit and ask very nicely-worked for me. Slung him an extra tenner for a drink just incase I need further help.
  11. Couldn't get the vredesteins quick enough so went for the falken 453 all round. Worked out at 85 quid a corner fitted. Guy ordered them in and spoke very highly of them. Very slippy to start with, as any tyre is, so will be spinning them up for the next few days to get them scrubbed. Will report back with how there going.
  12. Thanks guys, that's what most people are saying on here. On the blower to camskill it is then!
  13. As above about to she'll out for 4 tyres for the octy vrs. It's between two- vredestein ssantas or the falken 914 which, in your opinion are the best choice? I drive quite hard so want decent grip but also a decent life. Thanks in advance. Smithy
  14. Not worked out how to upload photos yet will will look into later on. Yeah got the alignment done on the hunter rig so no problems there. Strange how the same kit has differences on other cars, I was hoping for a bit lower but not speed hump scraping lower!
  15. Mines the same bud, was done with same kit about 6 months ago. Settled a bit but still higher than the rear just learnt to live with it.
