  1. I'm always amused by people who pay £20k+ for a car and then worry about a few MPG either way or stress about their road tax being £50 per year more or less. Buy what you want and enjoy it! Neither option, whether petrol or diesel, is going to bankrupt you... And if it is, then maybe you should be considering something a bit cheaper in the first place!
  2. It's just a bit of banter. There are much greater things in life to worry about than a bit of Skoda bashing!
  3. It says there will be three 'vRS only' colours in the new line-up. Crucial difference
  4. I'll send you a Private Message mate. Cheers.
  5. (EDIT - High-res pics added) I am selling my lovely yellow vRS after approximately 6 and a half trouble-free years of ownership due to my wife's company car arriving on August 1st. Please note that the car will not be available until Saturday July 30th as it's currently being used by my wife while she's on maternity leave. She returns to work on Monday August 1st which is when she will collect her new car. My vRS was purchased new from Lightcliffe Skoda in Halifax by me in March 2005. It has a full service history with all bar one completed at my local main Skoda dealer. It's currently showing 65,633 miles and should have no more than 66,000 miles on the clock by the end of the month. Here's a breakdown of the good points: - Full service history (see below) 10/05/2006 @ 9,788 miles (main dealer) 03/05/2007 @ 20,291 miles (main dealer) 22/02/2008 @ 30,564 miles (main dealer) 04/04/2009 @ 43,444 miles (main dealer) 19/03/2010 @ 54,414 miles (independent specialist) 04/04/2011 @ 63,835 miles (main dealer, plus brake fluid change) - The next service isn't due until April 4th 2012 or 74,000 miles - MOT'd until July 9th, 2012 having just sailed through the test on July 9th - Comes with heated seats (very rare and useful option, especially with the cold winters we've been having!) - I had the cambelt and water pump replaced at my main dealer on August 9th last year at a cost of nearly £400. - All the brake discs and pads, along with a sticking OSR caliper were replaced in April 2009. - The front console bushes were replaced using uprated versions in April 2010. - I have just spent £250 having the crankshaft sensor replaced (she drives like a dream now!) - Kuhmo Ecsta KU31 Sport tyres all round, fronts have 3-4mm tread and the rears have 5-6mm. - Overall the car is in decent condition inside and out for its age. - Car comes with all original documents and quite a few receipts, along with both original keys. And now for the bad points (yes, there are a few :(): - OSR scrape from a parking post at my wife's work. Approx 6" long and not too deep. This is the worst damage but it's relatively minor (see pic below). - Two very small (max 5mm wide) cracks on the front bumper, either side of the grille below the number plate. Not noticeable until you're stood right in front of it - Rear bumper was bumped in a car park, causing some very small chips and a light crease approx 10" wide in centre of bumper. As above, not really noticeable until you're right on top of it - A few small scrapes on both bumpers, hardly show up and nothing that you wouldn't find on any other car of this age - The driver's seat bolster has worn through on the right hand side creating an approximate tear of 1"x0.5". The interior is in A1 condition apart from this - The Road Tax runs out on August 31st - The wheels aren't perfect. They all have 'bubbling' on them and some damage to the lacquer. They also have some curbing but it's very minimal Bearing in mind the potential cost of repairing the various cosmetic scrapes, I have decided to put the car up for £3,750, which I believe is a very good price for such a well maintained and mechanically sound car. The car must go this month so I will consider sensible offers as I don't want it sat around in the garage unused. Please message me if you're interested, or you require more info/pics etc. Thanks, Steve Dinsdale.
  6. I've only just started looking at the used prices as i'm getting ready to sell my vRS, and i'm amazed at how well they've held their value! Mine should hopefully be worth between 35-40% of what I paid for it in March 2005, pretty good I reckon
  7. Thanks for your advice Vindaloo, I've had a quote of approx £340 from the main dealer to fix the parking damage above the rear wheel, and £210 to replace the seat bolster. Not had any SMART repair quotes yet 'cos i'm waiting 'til nearer the sale date - just incase it suffers any more car park damage I'm just a bit unsure as to whether i'd recoup the potential £500-£600 repair bill back when I sell the car, although I guess it'd make it easier to sell. It's my wife's daily driver though, and if I banned her driving it she'd have to use my new A4 Avant - no chance
  8. Hi, sorry for the long post but please bear with me. My Yellow 2005 '05 vRS will be on sale from August 1st and i'm looking for a bit of advice on what price to sell it for. The Good: It has 66k on the clock and I've owned it since new. It has a full main dealer history (apart from one service which was done at an independent) with the last service done in April at 64k miles, along with a brake fluid change, and the cambelt & water pump were done at the same main dealer last August (approx 60k miles). Kuhmo Ecsta Sport tyres are all 12 months old with a good 6mm tread on them All brake pads and discs were replaced in April 2009 along with one caliper that was sticking. The console bushes were replaced with uprated versions at around the same time. The interior is perfect, apart from one problem (see 'The Bad' below) Just spent £250 on a replacement crankshaft sensor - she drives like a dream again now Now for 'The Bad': My wife scraped it against a car park barrier so it's got a foot long graze above the offside rear wheel, not rusted though. The drivers seat bolster has a one inch tear in the cover due to general wear. The wheels are 'bubbling' and a bit discoloured, mainly on the inside of the spokes. My wife (yes, again!) had a small car park 'ding' which has pushed the front grills in slightly and put two hairline cracks either side of the grills on the bumper - can't really see it until you're stood about 6 inches away! There are a few 'touched-up' areas on both bumpers as you'd expect on a 6 year old car, none of them are noticable at normal viewing distance. So, having said all that, the big question is - Is it worth having the various 'dings' and scrapes repaired or should I sell it at a discount allowing for them?? What do you think it's worth for a private sale?? Thanks in advance for any replies! Steve.
  9. Thanks for the reply Mike. I've just had a call from my local stealer who've diagnosed a faulty crankshaft sensor - at a cost of £279! ouch! I wouldn't mind but i'm selling the car in a month and did want to be shelling out any more on it. Oh well!
  10. Hi all, Our 2005 '05 vRS (65,000 miles) has developed a fairly serious problem over the last couple of months. It sometimes fails to start even though it turns over strongly, it seems to fire up and then stall immediately. It also loses power intermittently whilst driving at various speeds, ie doing 50mph on a dual carriageway, the power drops for a second or two and then comes back. My wife is currently out shopping with my baby daughter and she's just rung to tell me that it's 'stalled' 6 times this morning. She's been to a mechanic who said it could well be the cam sensor?? I only had the cambelt changed at the main dealer in August last year so i'll be a bit pee'd off if it is! Thanks in advance for any help!! Steve.
  11. Forgive my newbie question, but what's TPS? I'll be at my main dealer for a service in a month so i'll have a word with them then.
  12. As the title says, where will I find a set of OEM vRS wheel badges? And how much will they rob me of? Thanks, Steve.
