  1. I was told by Horton Skoda at my last service that they can update to the latest maps and firmware version for £30. Certainly a cheaper option than buying the disks to do it yourself, and if the dealer buggers it up...
  2. Old before my time, love to tune into the Jeremy Vine show... when thats not on the Floyd comes out! :p
  3. Utter crap mate! I feel for you, not what anyone needs let alone the back end of the year. At least the dash cam offers absolute clarity and vindicates you of any wrongdoing.
  4. I'm selling my Genuine Skoda Octavia MK 2 Estate dog guard, this will fit all MK2 estates from 2005-2013 It has never been used with dogs and is completely immaculate, bought however sadly my dog passed away before it was ever used. Only a few months old I have the original receipt from Dennis Horton Skoda for £110. Pictures can be added if required. Looking for £60 or will deliver to anywhere within a 50 miles radius of Kings Lynn or Lincoln (travel between the two regularly) for an extra £15 to cover the price of fuel. Item it identical to one listed below: http://www.theskodashop.co.uk/product/Dog_Guard_%28Octavia_II_Est_06%3E13%29_DMM620001
  5. A long time since any real update here... so thought id say the old girl is still running well! Now upto 170k on the clock after a bloody fun Euro Trip this week. Hit the Dover to Dunkirke then onto Amsterdam, Berlin, Nurburgring and back via Luxembourg. A bit of skoda spotting on the way too!
  6. Whilst on an emergency call today on "blues and two's" I can count at least half a dozen drivers who in the space of five miles didn't seem to make sense of the cars in the opposite lane pulling over or why the car in front and behind were pulling to the left... this combined with the complete and utter lack of checking rear view mirror before pulling out passing then suddenly cacking their pants and swerving violently left after they notice the massive yellow ambulance behind them! Fortunately drivers like this whilst extremely frustrating are very predictable
  7. So somehow you are suggesting that taking them for money may prove a point and make them accountable? The error here is in professional competance. I personally would seek advice and inform trading standards. You dont need to "milk" a cow to prove it can produce milk. Its just a waste. If this was an independant garage owned by your dad would you try and sue or would you accept an apology allow the problem to be fixed and leave it at that? Write to Kwik -Fit headquartes and express your concerns, from experience airing a concern with customer services will land you an apology and often a good will gesture.
  8. As an idea for the 2.0 CR, mines a 2010 vRS with 165,000 on the clock now and it has never drunk a drop of oil or needed topping up despite checking weekly...
  9. Not that you probably need it but I also used the same ebay dealer for a radio code and received the code in the afternoon after ordering in the morning and it worked perfectly.
  10. On an L&K Coil-overs would certainly be different... I think the big question to ask is do you intend to keep the car for a long period of time or a couple of years and move on? If you intend on keeping it for many years then ignore potential re-sale values and change it to please you. I would however avoid Prosport coilovers, I've no idea how they are on Skoda however as a cheap product they were appalling on a Volvo 850R I owed, bouncy and completely adjust-ability was very limited.
  11. Thanks 0Wl. Thats exactly the part I was after! I didn't realize it would be such a reasonable price either? Ill buy the whole thing rather than just the connector and have done with it... my soldering skills are dreadful! Many thanks
  12. Hi all, Recently my brake warning light has been coming on... I've traced it back to a broken wire in the brake pad wear sensor plug (car loom side not the pad side). Fortunately I've managed to do a "bodge" repair for the time being but ideally it needs replacing. Typically I didn't take a picture of it but its the nearside front and its a cable which Y-branches off one plug to the pads and one to the ABS sensor. Does anyone know how easy it is to replace and also have a part number? I'm guessing probably a part only the main dealer could supply as its not generally something that's changed? Many thanks in advance!
  13. Well not a great deal to report, its been a while since I did anything to the car. She was looking a little sorry for herself so with an afternoon off work, a bucket, sponge, some cloths and some Auto Glymm SRP I got to work. Very happy with the results, still needs a good detail to remove some swirls but keeping on top of the paintwork does seem to make washing and polishing a joy.
