  1. Thanks Chris, in short I would have thrown it out the window if the GPS was a portable unit. My unit is the one with four switches either side of the touchscreen and a blanked off cd slot under the screen. My cheap Tom Tom was easier to work. the predictive should have a on/off or has it? Is the rear light cluster/ lamps a dealer job? Kind regards Mike
  2. Hi just a few observations for perusal. 1. I Cannot seem to see a flap to change rear lamps if needed? 2 Driver door internal door handle Crome peeling off. 3 Carpet beneath and behind glove compartment coming away 4 Extremely frustating sat/nav. Mainly predictive postcodes streets and towns. Fortunately this is a fixed unit otherwise it would have had wings on many an occasion. I cannot find a way of disabling this function 5 This is obviously my fault but cannot admit any knowledge as to how why or where. The plastic bottom sump guard is broken. In over 50 years of driving I have never had this happen????????? 6 Is there a general consensus that the general quality is not up to previous skoda IE my previous Octavia scout/ VW 7 oil information light came on at 8200 miles stating service due in 800 miles total would be 9000 miles when I informed the dealer the actual service is 10,000 or annual. The all above are general observations and for some reason I still like the car? Kind regards Mike.
  3. Hi playboy, yes it's in the glovebox with no slot to place a CD. Luckily I have a computer, I wonder what Skoda expect you to do if your not computer savvy? Kind regards Mike
  4. Hi eyegr, yes that's what I thought, I must admit to being a little concerned back in September when I traded in the octavia scout as to VWs problems with emissions but it was a very good deal at the time. My space back sports arrived on the day of pick-up with the wrong wheels ( alloys) when they should have been black, as I would not sign on the day the dealer gave me the black alloys an £800 extra over the standard black alloys free so I was well pleased. I don't believe it's the dealers fault with the other bits that are missing that have concerned me. As another thought the disc player was in the glove compartment? But it does not play discs???? Only a SD card that has to be filled from your computer? What's that about???Kind regards Mike
  5. I am not very up to date on cars, but would it make a difference where the cars are manufactured? Another small gripe is courtesy lighting where by the lights etc stay on for a few seconds after you switch off? Kind regards Mike
  6. Thanks playboy for the reply, thought as much bit disappointing with Skoda even my 2001 Audi had it (15 years Ago) and my scout 2008 model, I guess some features never get passed down? Kind regards Mike.
  7. hi all having traded in my 2008 Octavia scout. I find a few little nags about the rapid. My main gripe which is probably my fault for not checking when purchasing is the remote key fob doesn't do the electric Windows and now summer is coming and the car will be hot (inside) this was very helpful on the scout is there a workaround? Or is there an after fit resolution? Help needed cannot stand hot cars ( yes I know I am a sad case) please help. Kind regards Mike
  8. hi all I Picked up my new rapid sport last Tuesday. Although the brochure shows (CD slot) July 2015 brochure there is no CD player on the new 1.6 tai 115. There is a unit with SD slot in the glove compartment though. Seems Skoda is moving away from CD. Kind regards mike
  9. Thanks camelspyyder, I will get the app. Thanks storm chaser. On the upside when I went to pick up the car I immediately noticed it had the wrong wheels??? Should of had the black wheels in the brochure, the dealership got straight onto skoda! As the dealership did not have any in stock they took a set of the optional extra @ £800 from another car in the showroom and gave me them free of charge, right result! However I did have to go back to collect the car. Now that's what I call a exceptional service! Kind regards mike
  10. hi all I do not post that much on the forum but do read, I have just picked up my new rapid and and happy with it! However when purchasing a car you can't think of everything I have the 1.6 tdi space se sport. Which I ordered a couple of extras for. But the sat/nav is standard. I am more than a bit disappointed that it has no safety camera recognition as far as I can tell? Not being very savvy with computer stuff I could have missed the section but I don't think so! Can any one help get around this problem, my previous cheap TomTom had this facility as standard. Please help with so many card/ aux/USB slots there must be a way around this? And please make it clear as I not very computer literate. THANKS and Kind regards mike.
  11. Hi Camelspyder, and thankyou very much for your input, I feel a bit better now, was getting ready for a problem with the main dealer. Kind regards mike
  12. Hi all, I am in the process of trading in my Octavian scout, I have ordered a rapid space back 1.6 tdi 115ps SE/sport manual gearbox I am now retired and thought I would get a smaller more econonomical skoda, and am now rather concerned after reading this thread. I had no idea about this September ruling. The car apparantly is ready for delivery next w/e I ordered it Monday this week. I got it at a fair price and 0% finance I am pleased with the deal however not if its not compliant with the new 2016 rulings. I guess I will have to contact the dealer? How else can I tell if it's an older model. I have ordered it in metallic white with xenon. My brochure is July 2015 it states the emissions are109 page 31 but I believe that might well be co2. Any suggestions greatly relieved. Kind regards Mike
  13. Thankyou super dog, will I have to get the the car analized with the dreaded laptop to tell me which wheel it is? Regards. Mike
  14. thanks for the head up. Aspman, at least when I take it in for a check I will maybe have an idea kind regards. Mike
  15. hi all, I have now had my scout (2008) for 69000 miles and had no problems until the last couple of weeks, both lights come on if for instance I do an evasive manoeuvre to say miss a pot-hole etc. when I stop the the car for the night or leave it a short while everything is ok? I have checked the fluid levels and all is well! Has anyone else had this problem please? Kind regards mike
