  1. Yes exactly! Look in the handbook under launch control. Although it feels exciting and my kids love it, it does feel like its not doing the mechanicals much good! Mind you I don't suppose Skoda would include the feature if it caused damage... I would highly recommend anyone with a 280 to try it at least once!
  2. Reset the trip from my last post and the cars doing 25 mpg at the moment. As others have mentioned though you don't choose the 280 for economical motoring. I assume everyone has discovered the launch control setting.
  3. Seems its not just the owner of my car that has a drink problem....seems like the car has as well! My wife uses the car for school trips and I use it for leisure so its probably not getting the chance to get the mpg up. I must admit its the only aspect of the car that has left me ever so slightly disappointed. Interesting to hear what others are getting. I'll see how I get on over the next month and might speak to Skoda about it. Does speed effect mpg? :sun:
  4. I've only put V-Power or Tesco 99 in it. Will try it sometime, but don't want to 'lose ' any power at the moment. My 2006 VRS Octy was noticeably better with V-Power.
  5. Had my 280 for a month now and well chuffed. Likes its V-Power (only doing 22.7mpg over 3500 miles) but its great fun. Like the look on 911 drivers faces when they move over Admittedly only an 'older' 03 plate Porsche but still made me giggle!
  6. Thanks for the suggestions. Still like the idea of more power though. Has anyone had experience of Bluefin Stage 2?
  7. Hi I have a 2006 MY Octavia VRS tfs which has done 26,000 miles. I have the Bluefin stage 1 remap which I have been very pleased with and it has only ever ran on V Power. Everything else is standard - I have the latest VAG DV on as the original split. What should I do next to get more power. It is my family car, so it needs to retain its driveability and not make too much noise! I await suggestions
  8. More efficent with lower emissions acheived by using a different intake etc. Road tax is lower than the TFSI. Thats as much as I know - would be interested to know the power and torque of the TSI - do you have that info?
  9. Hi Someone else can clarify, but I think that the new engine is now termed tsi in the facelift as opposed to tfsi in the 06-09 MY. This is seen accross the VAG group ie Golf Mk6 GTI, New Leon etc. Hope this helps.
  10. 35mpg on a motorway run, 17mpg on a cross country blast. I have found it differs dramatically on how you drive. This might sound obvious but I had a WRX for a while that used to do about 16 and only rise to 22 on a run. The Skoda with a Stage one map is as fast, more economical, more practical and alot more discreet. Oh for a four wheel drive version though!!.
  11. Thanks for that info regarding the models I listed. I did just check up on the TTS - it does still use the four cylinder engine and looking at the picture on Audis website it looks like it has a different intake. To quote Audi ' improved exhaust and induction' so perhaps there is a possibility there. I now its only been out for a few months so I may be better asking a technician at an Audi franchise. I will post any info I get.
  12. Hi there. Had Bluefin Stage 1 on my 2007MY for 2 months now and I love it. Stuck to rear bumper of 420bhp S-Type R at the weekend - which I loved as I am a Jag mechanic. I just wondered if anyone out there has fitted an improved induction system from elsewhere in the VAG group ie Cupra, TTS, S3. It may seem crazy but I like the factory look under the bonnet and I gather that the higher output TFSI has a different induction system. I fitted a PD160 intake to my Fabia VRS and that made a slight improvement whilst maintaining the factory look. If not then it will have to be an aftermarket kit - what do you recommend. Thanks PS - When budget allows then its a full stainless and Stage 2 map!.
