  1. It may be the fuel not the motor. Buy Startron and after 30 min. you should get a positive result. Startron is made of enzymes that break down large fuel clusters into smaller much more combustible fragments. Even an old motor gets a new life.
  2. Has anyone had tis problem? Better yet, does anyone have a solution or should I take it to the dealer?
  3. Ok I might be blind, but judging from the pictures (Hard to judge!) it looks exactly like the wood in my Superb
  4. I have a simple question, that someone should be able to answer. How is the average consumption per trip calculated? Is it a measurement of the fuel consumption for the entire trip or for the last few minutes or for the last few km/miles. It seems to change rather rapidly
  5. Regarding fuel additives I can strongly recommend StarBrites StarTron. This formula contains over 30 bio derived enzymes which means they never enter into a chemical reaction but modify other chemical reactions = safe. StarTron breaks down large stale fuel molecules to smaller more combustible molecules. This gives you more power especially if you have old residual fuel, This also means it prevents carbon build up thus keeping injectors clean. The better preformance means better fuel economy. It also breaks down water molecules, preventing water phase separation caused by ethanol so the water can be easily vaporized and this also optimizes the fuel. Old gums and varnishes are also broken down. I will admit I sell this product but the reason I sell it is because I am a true believer. My wife's 10 year old Honda was more than overdue for a tune up. After adding StarTron the car (within a 1/2 hours drive) felt like a new car. We have had the same result in my snow blower and lawn mower. I have tried it in my 2010 170 TDI estate with DSG and the change was much more subtle. New cars don't have that much to improve upon. However after a few weeks of using StarTron I am almost sure the car is running better and is more economical. Perhaps the system is now cleaned up and running like a new car. But to be honest I wouldn't stake my life on it. It could just be a bias, but that, which happened with my wife car, is 100 accurate.I also have a friend who was having trouble with his lawn mower. He added StarTron w/o his wifes knowledge. He than asked how the lawn mower was running and she said "It is much smoother, did you do something"
  6. Hello Tag1_UK. What I said about Startron is my honest impression; no spam. Search the net and and you will find many testimonials. This **** is incredible. What I wrote about my wife's car really happened. My son insists my new car has more power as well although I'm still not convinced. My car had a lot of spunk to begin with, being new.
  7. Thera are probably 100 different reasons for your problems but I'm not going to get into them BUT I would recomment StarTron fuel additive. This is a totally harmless magical enzyme formula that takes care of E10 problems as well as enhancing fuel, cleaning valves, fuel lines, etc. My wife*s car after vacation was running extremely badly and 10 min. after adding this stuff the car felt like new! I then added some to my newish car 2010 superb (170) and I think it is faster (I'm not 100% sure.) We also tried it in our lawnmower which is now purring like a new machine. This stuff is unbelieveable
  8. That's happened to me twice. I had to turn off the ignition and than restart the car. I then shut off the ignition and it was fine. This was definitely not a question of an over heated car with the fans working extra to cool things down. I too, wonder what this was all about. Imagine if one walked away, upon returning the battery would certainly be dead
  9. I just installed the V7 maps on my columbus but it seems speed cameras are not included. This was the disc for western europe so it may not be the same as the Brits V7. I thought I previously read the V7 included speed cameras. Was I just dreaming? Or are the cameras hidden.
  10. I agree, bixenons are great, white and brilliant, and the high beams are ordinary yellow H3's. I rate them as ok but it is not ok to have white xenons ond yellow high beams. Just not pretty IMHO. I changed them to blue (white) H3 that are suppose to give a 30% better beam. I'll let you know next winter if this is true. Living in Sweden, the days are very long right now, so the high beams are difficult to test.
  11. The DSG gearbox in combination with the 170 is indeed sporty (for a family car) However it does take some getting use to in order to optimize the effect. As you mentioned it does adopt to your style of driving. However, even after it has adopted to a more aggressive driving style it requires an in-learning period. There is a short kick down that lowers the gear one notch but it takes some time to learn just where this sweet spot is located. Naturally the DSG even has the traditional kick down that all automatics have. With proper usage of the DSG you will find the gearbox can almost be used as a manual but only until you have reached D6. The motor/gearbox is much less sporty at the top end (RPM/spead). The sport setting is definitely more sporty, in fact it still surprises me and I love the motor rev noises that are easily heard as you go through the S gears.
  12. Yup, I agree with all of you; TG is for entertainment. And I love my Superb, but these are not the issues I am questioning. We could argue that news programs, newspapers etc. are also entertainment sources, which indeed they are. We could also argue that how the news is chosen and presented, and repeated has a dramatic effect on our governments and ultimately us. TG does effect how many cars get sold and the resale value of our cars. And to be honest it may even effect the feelings some of us may have for our cars (if we repeatedly hear it's a piece of junk will we feel bad or do we feel good when it's named best car)) When the Swedish TG magazine, Teknikensvärld, writes that in the infamous moose test the the Superb is unsafe. sales go down. Entertainment does have importance
  13. In the past I checked the Superb ratings according to Top Gear Magazine. Naturally for the different models there were different ratings. I believe in the past they varied from 11 to 14 out of a possible 20. In the latest number of TG, all the Superb models are rated 11. Anyone else think this is just a little strange. One month 14 next month 11, which is actually quite bad. At the same time Top Gear (TV show???) has called the Superb luxury car of the year.
  14. wow, no wonder you are ****ed; I would be too. OK I have Columbia with upgraded sound system and it doesn't sould anything like yours. The bass is deep and rich and there is no vibration or distorsion
  15. Hi again, Yes you are correct about the height of the tire/wheel but the wider tire may come closer to the outer rim of the wheel house where the mud flap sits. I guess you will find out. In any case its not a big deal. I also do not give credence to Teknikensvärld. Teknikensvärld is a "nationalistic" car magazine that hates Skodas, and loves Volvo and Saab. I hope you enjoy your car as much as I do; great choice!
  16. Hi Hasse, I'm also sweden based and I have 17 wheels but with the normal chasis. I'm sure the sports chasis is going to look good BUT you may have trouble in the snow. In my experience the standard version rides rather low allowing it to hit any raised snow area in the road. I'm suggesting that perhaps the sports version is too low. This is an uninformed thought so take it for what it is worth. The 17 wheels have a clearence problem in the snow. More precis there is a constant build up of snow between the tire and the mud flaps. This is a fact. I assume you've read about the 18 wheel älgtest disaster that TeknikensVärld did some months back.
  17. I just sent that link to my Skoda dealer telling him I'll be trading in my Superb when that upgrade becomes reality. His reply to the concept car was WOW but he also informed me that he has already been informed about the new badge and it is definitly on its way
  18. I'm really not an expert but I read the following on the web. 1 .wash area with alcohol or similiar to remove any wax and dirt 2. do not use the brushes that usually come with a paint reparation kit; 3. instead use a toothpick and add paint, layer for layer, untill a desired thickness has been reached. And I'll add use reading glasses or an enlarging glass and an extern light (look in your trunk!) I actually managed to make the damaged spots almost disappear! Good luck
  19. Congradulations Perko. Hope you enjoy your Superb as much as I do. As I have said on previous posts, the upgraded sound system is definitely upgraded. It does not match a B&O or other very expensive systems but it is good. The more I get to know my car, and the more I read on Briskoda, the more I'm beginning to think that the cars may be a little different for each country they are produced for. I am also as you located in Sweden, and perhaps there is something special about the Swedish sound system since most of the complaints appear to come from the Brits. Interestingly my Columbus/Bluetooth- phone definitely has a different menu than others
  20. Greeting and thanks to everyone who gave me advice . I now have an update, in case you are curious, regarding the problem of trying to update my phone book from my Sony Ericsson K800i to my Columbus unit. I have now been to the dealer twice. The first time they agreed with me that there was no way to do an update and further that my Columbus/bluetooth does not have the menu that so many of you others have, that simplifies updating. Thety did however, have some cars where that menu is visible! They than ran the computor to check for updates but it seems I have the most current update (not quite sure I believe this). It seems the only way an update can be done is run "factory settings" (for the phone menu on the Columbus) and with a clean slate reinstall the phone.
  21. Its time to change out my phone. Has anyone heard anything about any phone using windows 7 phone OS and Columbus compatibility?
