  1. So far I've found Vmaxx and H&R springs. Looks like there are Bilstein dampers as well.
  2. Thanks, so that matches what I found out with the springs so only option to lower is go with the aftermarket lowering springs. Cars had Haldex done recently and 2 cambelt changes based on age rather than miles. It's a 2010 model so I suspect CR.
  3. Im assuming these are right for the front? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/303918245572?fits=Model%3AOctavia&hash=item46c2f066c4:g:VswAAOSwlLheOYKO REar? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/363550603799?fits=Model%3AOctavia&hash=item54a54dfa17:g:d54AAOSwNm5hSbh~ Or these if Im feeling brave. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154462608921?hash=item23f6b05e19:g:7ugAAOSwAXRgqF00
  4. Thanks for the info. Id forgotten about 7zap so thanks for the reminder. I'll maybe price up the springs. Theres seems to be about 10 different springs for each with some cross over. How do you know whats what? This car was too good to miss. Its in very good condition with impeccable history and low mileage so bought it based on that. The ride height doesnt bother me too much but I like to tinker and this is one thing Id possibly look at over time. As you say the bigger tyres come into play as well but It looks like there is loads of clearance.
  5. Hi folks, not been on here for a while. Had a pre FL Vrs estate a few years back and hopefully picking up a red FL Scout Tdi on Friday. It seems very clean, low mileage and impeccable history. Already looking at some changes so just wondered if anyone had done similar. First I have a set of 18in wheels to fit but cant really find any photos of them with non std wheels, anyone else fitted 18in to there scout? Im looking to get a colour coded grill as I dont like the chrome one. Ive seen the Superskoda or whatever its called selling them but anyone have one? The door rubbing strips Id also like to get in red, anyone know how easy or difficult they are to replace? I'll also be looking at getting it remapped at some point. This will be my wifes car and to be honest we dont need the high setting so I was looking at maybe at some point lowering it down however from what I can see its the same suspension as the std 4x4 so changing springs to them will make no difference. Anyone else looked into this? There seems to be H&R springs available but thinking that might screw the geometry up too much as there stated as 55mm drop.
  6. Thanks, I think that's nice. New A4 wheels have correct tyre size.
  7. Missus currently has a 55 plate TFSI VRS estate and Im running a 54 plate A4 Quattro estate but often find we use her car due to more room/bigger boot so Ive been thinking about a tdi Scout as I quite like them. Anyway it wont be going offroad etc and Id use original wheels + winter tyres during winter months however I really fancy putting a set of 18in or even 19in wheels on the Scout. I know this to some seems daft but I hate the originals sizes. Anway Ive searched google and not really come up with anything. Has anyone ever seen a Scout with bigger OEM wheels? I was thinking 18in VRS or even 19in Audi A4/A6 as they should come with right sized tyres.
  8. Thanks we have a pre FL VRS already and had the sills sorted when we got that. Its actually an LE version so has the leather etc in it. Yeah I don't warrant a diesel at the moment with the mileage and my preference is petrol its just most cars these days are diesel.
  9. Yeah this one has had the variable but more recently has had more services. Car seemed okay, only issue for me is DPF as in general my commute is 10miles each way on a/b roads but we will use this more at the weekends as the family car as well which tends to be longer trips. My wife has the TFSI version so I thought it would be good to have the best of both worlds.
  10. Timing belt been done as has brakes recently. The cars seems good other than usual rusty sills. I'm more interested in those that have say 110k miles or more on these engines.
  11. Looking at a 2009 170cr with just over 100k miles on it. It seems to have been looked after but what pitfalls are there at this mileage on these engines? As far as I know clutch is original as is turbo. EGR etc has been cleaned up and it seemed to pull well. The high mileage seems to have been from a lot of motorway miles.
  12. Picked mine up yesterday and the guy said that there was loads of little holes that didnt show much but when he started sanding away it all just flaked off. He said another one coming in as well to get theres done. Ive now got the stone chip almost up to the top of the sill now so dont have to worry about it.
  13. Ive got a 08 320d MSport Touring and was looking recently to swap for a Mk2 or even Mk3 Vrs. Had a shot of both and we both came away thinking that the Mk2 was not as nice a car as the BMW and the Mk3 not a big jump for the cost difference. We therefore bought a pre FL Mk2 for the space and kept the BMW. 3 series has crap space when compared but 90% time its only me driving so its doesnt matter. Im a VAG man and always have been but having had 3 BMW's now I have to admit they are a nicer car to drive and well put together, If the Octavia didnt have the space we wouldnt have one.
