  1. Hi all hope you may be able to help. My 2014 Octavia Hatch has a rear wiper problem when operated whether in wipe or wash wipe it varies in the amount of wipe it will complete sometimes only a quarter wipe or maybe half but has not completed a full double wipe and return to the correct park position for a while now preferring to park on the nearside as opposed to the offside. Not sure if it could be the relay (cannot seem to find it) or perhaps the wiper motor at fault any help or suggestions would be very appreciated many thanks in advance.
  2. Many thanks for all your posts which goes to confirm what I already thought but having the main agent staff tell me different made me think I was somehow completely wrong. . Wonder what would have happened if I had just taken there advise and the belt snapped - engine failure - would they have accepted responsibility?
  3. Just as I thought xman but she insisted and I even ask her to check with the Service Manager who she said agreed no cam belt so thought I'd get some correct advise on here to prove I was not going crazy
  4. Thanks for your response 2ndskoda Yes the Skoda main agent whom I purchased the vehicle from new and have always serviced the vehicle. Please see a copy of the email below certain info removed to protect the innocent ........................ Good Morning Mr -------- Thank you for visiting the dealership today. I can confirm that as per Skoda Menu pricing and Elsa Pro systems your vehicle ------ does not require a Cambelt change at 40,000 miles as the vehicle is a chain driven engine and therefore will not require changing at the Cambelt interval of 40,000 miles. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me, Thank you for your visit today. The original email has the service advisors name, main agents details and the Skoda emblem
  5. Sorry that should read £269 for service and £435 for cam belt/tensioners/water pump etc total £704
  6. Hi on the subject of cam belts I have a 2011 Fabia Estate TDI CR 105 which I have owned from new and covered just over 30000 miles. Being 5 years old I today booked the vehicle in with my Skoda main agents who I purchased the vehicle from for a service (£269) and believing a cam belt/tensioners/water pump was also advisable I requested a price to supply and fit incl VAT(£465) but was informed my vehicle with Engine No CAY J32343 was chain driven so obviously no cam belt I questioned this several times, the service assistant even went to the service manager who confirmed this. I was so surprised I asked if they would send me an email with their details on confirming this which they have. Now having been a member for some time now and feel confident with forum members advise rather than my local Skoda agents...... can you help clear this up as I am not sure how I would stand legally should there be a cam belt which was not changed and it failed many thanks

  8. I had the same problem on my 2011 1.6 105 after 9000 miles it turned out to be the exhaust temperature sensor which was replaced under warrantee
  9. I got the car back today (Monday) I've been told they changed a drop arm but to return with the car once I have completed 200 miles so they can check it? They did over 30 miles including high speed motorway work which seems strange for the creaking fault especially as I gave a detailed report (above) that it happens over ramps. They also carried out lots of diagnostics including continuous stop/start of the engine I only know all this because I have a dash cam and witnessed an accident on my way home and browsed through the SD card and saw all this and could not understand why. Should ask questions about this as it seems strange for the fault I booked it in for.
  10. Well mine went in Thursday for the second time for this same problem, the service manager asked me to complete a fault sheet explaining where and what the fault is and to continue on another sheet if necessary, this is what I put which includes responses from other forum members................. My Fabia has a creaking noise from the suspensions when for example going over speed calming bumps. The noise can be heard more prominently when the suspension is wet as when the weather and suspensions are dry it is much less prominent. Unfortunately it does not seem possible to reproduce the sound by shaking or pressing down and releasing the suspension when the vehicle is stationary. The suspension seems to creak as opposed to knock and heard only for a second or so as the suspension absorbs the impact with the speed ramp from the front and sometimes rear of the vehicle. The noise is not heard when the car rolls or dives when turning or breaking. As requested I have listed results from other Fabia owners with the same/similar problem below from the Briskoda.net forum below with the thought these results may be of some assistance as explained to me by a Skoda engineer “it is sometimes a matter of elimination before the fault is eventually located and rectified so it may be of a help hearing of other Fabia owners experience with the same sort of problem”. The creaking was down to the rubber blocks that secure the anti-roll bars Our rear shocks were replaced on the Fabia by the dealer because of this As mentioned definitely sounds like the console bushes need replacing it was roll bar drop links + console arm bushes the front coil overs and at the same time new top mounts, top mount bearings and meyle HD drop links were replaced by main dealer They changed the drop links and the noise is really faint but they said if still there they will try the ARB bushes next When my wishbone bushes went it was more of a creaking noise but when the drop links went more of a knocking sound Mine went into the dealer last week, some bushes were split and suspension mounts suspect so the dealer changed them, result no creak so I’m happy. After five visits they identified the noise coming from the top of suspension mounts and wishbone bushes these have now been replaced under warranty. Seems be cured al last. Sorted at last they replaced the ARB & wishbone bushes plus tops of suspension mounts Yes Stan sorted thanks the main agent changed the front wishbone bushes no problem since hope this helps, good luck with yours ARB bushes and suspension mounts that did the trick I dropped the car off at the main dealer on Thursday morning and was phoned the same day saying they had ordered parts and I will get the car back about mid day Friday, they phoned Friday and said they hope to return the car Monday ? I will keep you posted.
  11. I purchased two Road Eye In-car 2.5" LCD HD DVR 1280*960 Digital Car Cameras from Amazon nearly a year ago and although at the cheaper end of the market am very pleased with them as they have already proved an accident was the fault of the third party as their insurance company insisted it was knock for knock meaning I would have to pay my access. Gazbull17 I purchased these cameras (1 front + 1 rear) as I have friends in the police force who informed me that they had been called several times to what was strongly suspected as staged accidents deliberately caused by EU drivers wishing to make false claims for whiplash injury but they found it difficult to prove until a lady driver had a camera on board which when viewed helped prove the staged accident, so for such a low cost and peace of mind I find it a great investment, oh and I am also 'Old School'
  12. I like almost all Fabia owners experience this problem, personally I raised the beam a little and fitted Phillips Xtreme which made driving at night so much safer.
  13. With thoughts of perhaps buying a slightly larger vehicle and visiting my main Skoda dealer to book a service I had a word with the salesman who sold me my Fabia Elegance just on two years ago and got a real shock. Having spoken about the proposed launch of the new Fabia he said this would probably be around June or July he mentioned the Rapid Special Edition was on special offer anyway after the tour around the car and looking at the options on both the Rapid and Octavia it came to the part exchange value on my 61 plate Elegance Estate 1.6 TDI 105PS 5 speed DPF, it's fully loaded with virtually ever upgrade I could have things like privacy glass, Amundsen upgrade with Bluetooth etc, detachable tow bar (never used) heated front seats with storage boxes under both, E/L windows all around, cornering headlights, you get the idea if the same vehicle was configured today it comes to well over 18K it cost me nearly 16K November 2011 with the offer about then. Now is it just me I am sure you with far more experience than will put me right but I felt that a one owner vehicle from new which has covered under 15,000 miles and being a return customer for the third time it would be valued at more than £7,700. As I say it could be just me expecting a better deal but when I think about it I could have hired/leased a vehicle for less than the £8k depreciation and not had the expense of insurance, tyres etc needless to say it seems as if we will be hanging on to the Fabia and to be honest the main reason for the change was I was no longer doing the mileage so thought get a new car with a petrol engine rather than possible DPF problems, end of moan.
  14. Hi have you still got please as my sons seems to have gone as blowe replaced, can you give me an Idea how much you may want if still available many thanks
  15. Thanks again for your posts I will keep you updated
  16. Many thanks for your feedback. Just to add today I checked the SD Card from my Car Dash Camera Cam Recorder and it revealed that after the service the vehicle was taken from my Skoda dealer to the VW branch of the same company and put onto a low ramp which had several fixtures including a screen which I assume was the alignment equipment, when the camera restarted the time lapse was 48 minutes the vehicle was then taken for a short test drive and parked up until I collected it, the two front tyres must also have been fitted during these 48 minutes so I would guess the alignment took maybe 30 - 35 minutes not the 2 hours quoted. So it would seem that the service manager either over estimated the time required and perhaps over charged or over estimated the time required but there is a standard charge, I purchased the front and rear cameras for safety reasons but on this occasion it made interesting watching for me not sure whether the service manager will think the same (providing he is prepared to watch) .
  17. I dropped my Fabia II in for its second service today then received a call from the Skoda service manager informing me my two front tyres need replacing as they were badly worn with only 2mm on the inner tread. He recommended I also have laser beam alignment to correct the problem which sounded a good investment as at only 14000 miles the misalignment has cost £140 to replace the two tyres through Skoda. I was then told the alignment took about 2 hours and would cost £140, now I know I live in the past sometimes but this seemed excessive to me as the last time I had this carried out in June at Tyre Pros it was £30, I was assured that they carried out the alignment as it should be where other companies may not and he highly recommended this be done to save excessive wear on the new tyres so reluctantly agreed. Can anyone out there especially if you have had this laser alignment carried out previously at a Skoda dealers give an idea on what it cost, even if it proves I do live in the past, many thanks.
  18. Just to report all's been well since my last post some two weeks ago and yes Skoda UK did contact me to check all was ok and they agreed the good will gesture I requested. On reflection I admit I was really frustrated that the fault took so long to rectify but occasionally even with the diagnostic technology available not all faults can be pin pointed which as in my case the fault had to be located by a process of elimination hate to think what the cost would have been had the work and parts not been carried out under warrantee. I must say my main dealers were very apologetic and helped as much as they could including supplying a courtesy car from day one which eased the inconvenience but missed all the add on’s I had fitted (cruise, Bluetooth, tow bar Satnav etc.) but I was mobile so could have been a lot worse. Once again thanks to all the help offered and given by forum members.
  19. Well I got my Fabia back yesterday the main dealer is 90% sure that they have found the culprit that has caused the vehicle to be in their workshop for eight weeks - a power relay that feeds the radio, I have been told that Skoda UK will contact me Monday to discuss the matter. I just have my fingers crossed that the problem has been resolved and will keep you updated, thanks to all the help and advice given by other members.
  20. Thanks Charles but this has been investigated and a new Satnav/Cd/Bluetooth etc. replacement fitted so that has been eliminated from the list so still looking.
  21. Thought I had better call in and see how things were progressing because as previously mentioned I have not been contacted with any updates. The service manager was on leave and due to return on Monday and it would seem there was nobody else in management available that I could discuss the situation with, the young man I did speak with explained that the search for the problem was on going and they were now going through a process of elimination. For the first time through frustration I did express quite strongly that I was not happy and felt that the problem should with the computer diagnostics and technical back up from SUK have been resolved by now but to be honest it seems like it’s one of those 1 in a 1000 faults it just so happens it’s my vehicle that has it. I would like to thank all the advice and comments by fellow members. I should mention two things firstly that I have no intension of removing the vehicle until the technicians at the main dealer are happy the problem has been resolved once and for all also that I have from day one been loaned a courtesy car but as you can imagine I just find it so frustrating that for about 10% of the time I have owned the vehicle it’s been in their workshop and still suffering from the original problem. As a footnote I was informed during my visit with the main dealer that they are monitoring my posts on this site.
  22. Well thought I would let you know that although Skoda UK have now got involved and said they would assist the main dealer in sorting out the fault within 72 working hours I have heard nothing since my last post on 27th March, it would seem jointly they are no closer to finding the fault let alone rectifying it than when I took the car to them 5 weeks ago, I think I have been very patient but admit I have nearly come to the end of my tether but what can I do???????
  23. Another Update Contacted by Skoda UK customer service manager which to cut a long story short boils down to she was very sorry to hear about the problem and the time it’s taken but as its an intermittent fault it is difficult to find and not sure when I will get the car repaired but wont be until after the Easter Bank Holidays. Not really sure what steps to take next as have just about had enough now but at least I do have a courtesy car but would obviously like my own vehicle back.
  24. True vwcabriolet1971 but as I have requested Skoda UK to get involved I will see what the outcome is by the end of this week then see if there has been any progress if not I will find out what my legal options are!!!!!! Thank you for your interest.
  25. I will pass on the info you never know cant be any worse than it is at the moment, thanks again
