  1. Just tried to deal with this shower, looking at a Roomster to replace an Octavia. I bought my first Octy 4 yrs ago from them & they were great, Bradford & Leeds have looked after it. Went in to look at the Roomster & booked a 48hr test drive for the following weekend, salesman takes all the details, spends 10 minutes on the computer allegedly booking the test drive, including various phone numbers in case of a problem. He does tell me he will not be there but another salesman will sort us out. Just before we were due to collect the car I phoned to make sure it was ready, guess what? Nobody had any idea about it, finally talked with the dealer principal who says that it had not been put in the demo diary, no 1.6 available as required. Anyhow goodbye DM Keith
  2. Well 3 weeks after the insurance decided my Octy Elegange was a write off just been told that all being well Brooklyn Skoda in Alcester will be sending a new TDi 130 by trailer to me next Wednesday. Seems a bit daft they could not find a dealer a little bit closer to Leeds but I assume they have nationwide deals. Don't recommend having your car written off but do recommend the way Tesco (Direct Line) have handled it
  3. My Octy was written off 2 weeks ago (see Write Off) I was told by the Engineer for Tesco that it becomes a write off when it exceeds 60% of the "Market Value" so the market value of my TDi Elegange 7 month old 10k miles was
  4. Got a call from Tesco Insurance yesterday to say that they will replace my Octy Elegance Tdi with a new car. And that I can pay the differance between the 110bhp & 130bhp :thumb: . So subject to availability things are looking better than this time 2 weeks ago. I thought they might not let me upgrade as the car had 0% Skoda Finance but they say Skoda will accept a replacement car on the agreement. On the actual liability front it's all in the hands of insurers & solicitors & I will let them fight it all out but I think it will take a long time.

Just got the call from the Insurance Engineer, it's a total loss. He is sending the paperwork through to the claims dept & recommending that as it's only 7 month old they should supply a new vehicle. Tesco will source & supply through Jamjar as they are all part of Direct Line. Going to get all my bits out of the car tomorrow. So will try & get some photo's. Let you know how things turn out John

Since last Thursday when The AA took me & the car to the garage I've not been back but no doubt I will be down there & take a picture & post it. Must commend Skoda Assistance(AA) on sorting out recovery & getting me home. They were on site within the hour.
  8. It looks like my 7 month old Octavia Tdi is being written off following an accident last week. Having seen the damage to the front wing & drivers door plus completly wrecked steering & suspension plus rear nearside wing & passenger door D M Keith in Leeds say it probably requires a new shell but they feel insurers will probably write it off as in addition it needs airbags. They also tell me there is a hole in the floor by the accelerator pedal is. I was hit by a car with no lights as I went past a stationery car (hence the damage to nearside) the other car went on & front ended car following me. At the moment he denies hitting me but was arrested by Police for a positive breath test & has since been charged. There are no independant witness's but he is from the area and it is one of the less desirable parts of West Yorkshire so I am expecting him to find an "independant" witness. Now waiting for insurers & solicitors to sort the mess out as to hire cars etc But I will say if the damage is so severe, I am very impressed with the structure of the car as I climbed out of the car & apart from a stiff neck the following day without a scratch. John
  9. Did anybody see the comment by Honestjohn in Saturdays Daily Telegraph regarding 1.9TDi on variable servicing. It had had one service & was approaching 57k and indicator had not come on for the next service. HJ suggested getting rid as soon as 3 year warranty was up as he thought engine would be shot by 60k
  10. The worst car I've had was a brand new Polo Saloon, but again I think it was mainly the dealer. Picked up car after 1/2 mile noisy wheel bearing, took garage 2 weeks to organise. 9 months a key went faulty took 8 weeks for new key from Germany (VW sent wrong key wait another 4 weeks hoping that spare is not lost goes faulty). 18 months ECU fault temporary loss of power at 70 in outside lane of M62. New ECU 4 weeks but when finally pressed VW supplied loan car for a weekas they thought it was cheaper to pay hire charges than send an ECU by courier. Final straw was at 40k service but still under warranty new HT lead required, which they only discovered as I went to pick it up. After 1 hour they admitted they did not have one in the Parts Dept & had sent a technician to remove one from any suitable new car in the compound.
  11. Picking up my Octavia Elegance this evening on 0%, the dealer asked us who we wanted to be registered keeper ie me or my wife. I believe it used to say on V5 or the leaflet you get with it that V5 was not proof of ownership.
  12. Will be picking up my Elegance 110 TDI tomorrow, trading in 1.6 Leon. Anything I should watch out for good & bad, decided on the oil burner due to 60+ miles a day commute so wanted better economy. On the face of it TDI drives better than 1.6 Leon. All comments welcome
