  6. how old is your car? mine was replace under warrentee. With labour the job was over £2000 it should always be smooth. hot or cold i still struggle to know when the car changes gear. i had the car from new and have cover 50,000 miles. still amazes me how it changes gear and i feel nothing
  7. Had similar problem and Skoda change the mechatronics unit. If you drive normal. You wouldn't feel any gear changes.only way you know it has chang gear is when you look on display or rev counter. It is really smooth
  8. You will get very little discount as car has just came out, nothing like the vat free that was on octavia for months
  9. A little jerky when pulling away means the electronic clap need to be replace ,
  10. Mine is a jul 2011, after 18,000 gentle miles in a 1.2 tsi, it has fail and a new unit is to be fitted after new year. is the electronic clutch assembly chan110 when you test drive a DSG it should be smooth and under normal driving you shouldnt know the car has change gear, the mechcanic during testing took my car to a hill start, it jerk a little when it should be so smooth. if you dont know dsg you wouldnt know there was a fault in mine. just test drive a new one and see how smooth it is so you will know what to expect
  11. Just remember if dsg goes its around £2000 to repair/replace
  12. i got a 308sw diesel auto on rental while they fix my car, no matter how much i try, it wouldnt be the fastest car as it is a pile of crap
  13. Been with a mate to leeds BCA, it was trade only BMW auction. Most car was in A1 showroom condition, The diesel is so quiet even in a big hall. They all had the original OTR price. A BMW 2010 320se with business pack and M sport(leather, idrive)etc etc with 19,000 on clock when for £13,000. original price was £28950. car was so quiet it was unreal , i think i will buy one of those next time i change my car
  14. Just a quick update, the car is being repair at my friends garage as i trust him a lot more then the other garages the insurance company sugguested, during the time i was thinking of replacing the car as i though it was going to be a write off, i couldnt found a car £14k auto matic that would do the job aswell as the skoda, only car that tempted me was the focus 1.0 but that dont come with auto the hire car 308sw 1.6diesel auto over 1000miles has average 38.7 miles and thats with me driving it as normal.i average 36mpg in my 1.2octavia, in real term in cost more to fuel the 308sw as diesel fuel cost more to buy. how can 308sw be so bad, the gear change is crap
  15. Just test the diesel, if you like your car sounding like a van in the morning and at traffic lights then its fine. petrol cost less to buy and its around 7pence cheaper a litre, But most important for me was the refinement of a TSI engine. diesel are not that good either, my 1.2dsg does 36mpg round town. the 308sw auto 1.6diesel is only doing 39mpg round town. Most important for me was i didnt want my car to sound like a van/minicab
  16. I just prefer the better refinement of the petrol, yes it cost me more money in long run but i fine it a price worth paying for
  17. 10-12k a year, do you really want your car to sound like a taxi in the morning and at traffic lights? or the noise to accelerate? yes it does more to a gallon but 35 vs 45mpg average? 25% better average fuel comsumption, factor in that diesel is 5%more to buy and the extra cost to buy in the first place , just drive a tsi for a few days then a diesel and you would really pay a bit more for the refinement, i do 16000miles a year and would really pay more for the refinement of a petrol
  18. Copy from pistonhead I have worked for an Audi centre for just over two years now. Its hard to talk about reliability because I only ever see cars when they are broken. But I'd say up to 60,000 miles DSG is pretty bullet proof and beyond that your looking for trouble. We do on average 1 DSG mechatronics unit every 2 or 3 months or so. SO yes that is the bit that goes wrong, and Its not cheep, £2-3k i think. Complete box it £5K. But one every 2-3months is not bad compare to amount of dsg car on the road
  19. i have a 1.2 dsg and in 18months 19000miles, the mechatronic units has fail resulting in slight jerky gear changes , Skoda has agree to replace the unit under warrentee, i get 36mpg in town. would i buy dsg again, there is no way i want a manual or normal gearbox as dsg is so smooth and engine is so quiet making the journey so relaxing
  20. if the word goes out, prices for 2.0 tsi will drop a lot faster
  21. Black friday curry had new ipad for £359 + 5% topcash back or if you have any friend working in tesco or currys or argos they are all on 10% staff discount
