  1. Once again thanks for all the advice folks, I shall take it all on board. Much appreciated
  2. Thanks very much for the replies. Shall take it all on board for winters arrival.
  3. Hey there folks, Been a long time since i posted on here but i'm always following the topic threads. So as of yesterday i was no longer an Octavia Vrs owner and became a Fabia Vrs owner. Got my self a wee '11' plate and so far so good. Still getting used to the DSG but i look forward to getting used to it after my first few experiences Delighted with the drives i've had so far. Hopefully the fabia will be as good to me as the octy was. Was thinking of future times and was wanting to ask how you've all found the fabia in the snow? personally ive never driven any form of automatic in winter weather so although i hope we're long away from any of that kind of weather (Although given i'm in Scotland,we could get some tomorrow!! :p) i was hoping you good folks out there could give me a heads up/tips for when the inevitable happens.
  4. Thanks for all the advice folks. My mate has fitted all the headunits ive ever owned and he's never let me down. The install of the stereo went with no hitches i just cant work out why the central locking wouldn't be working now. Never had a problem with it before so it can only be something to do with the stereo install, Oh well will see if his Tech Dept come up with anything. cheers again
  5. we never installed the supplied loom and used the stock connection so im wondering if that may be the prob. Thanks very much ill suggest that to him
  6. Hey guys needing some advice. I got my headunit changed tonight and now my central locking isn't working from the fob. My mate is a fully trained installer for Halfords and he's kind of stumped with what may be wrong and is having to phone his Tech dept tomorrow. Was just wondering if anyone has came across this before?. My first thought is quite simply that there's a connection been disconnected or another thought is that somehow the sensor for the central locking is somehow wired in with the audio system there was a loom supplied with the headunit (Philips CEM 2000B DAB CD/MP3), but other than that i have no idea. Any thoughts/advice would be helpful cheers folks
  7. Thanks for the advice and i knew somone would come out with the old disc right way up idea! (madmike01uk) shroud - I think you may be onto something with temp affecting the changer as its been since the temps went down that the probs got worse so i've wipped the changer out and got it in the house. keep it in for a couple of days and i'll put it back in at the weekend and see what happens. rk696 - I thought your idea was in with a good shout and there was defo a bit of grime on the pads. As i said to shroud ive got everything in now so i'll take it back out at the weekend and see how it goes. means i can eliminate any probs with moisture on the disks/inside the changer. Once again cheers for the replies. i'll post up after ive put the changer back in let you know how it goes
  8. Hello there peeps and a very happy new year to you all Ok so onto my prob. My Cd changer had been acting up for the last couple of months but is now at the point where it won't play any cds (proper and cdrs). the display on the headunit just comes up displaying ''Surface''. I've given the cds i'm wanting to play a good clean before putting them in.(and yes i have made sure the cds are the correct way around! ). Today ive tried Tight northeners suggested fix http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/163781-how-to-fix-the-cd-changer-mechanic-error/page__p__2215008__hl__disk%20changer__fromsearch__1entry2215008 but still to no avail :| So on that note does anyone know any other possible fixes or should i just try to get another changer (I've seen a couple on ebay)?? Any advice would be very welcome, hate being without my music/sick of radios repeating the same old gash!!!
  9. Suppose that would be the easiest thing to do!! LOL! Thanks very much
  10. So ive lost a couple of the wheel nut cover caps from my Octy over the winter and i can't seem to sorce any. Does anyone know anywhere that stocks them? I can get chromed ones (ebay but really don't like the look of them!) or Black ones (Zakparts ), but i'd rather get the proper grey ones that go with the wheels. Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)
  11. Hey there folks i see its been a while since a post up on this any update?
  12. Ok so 61 days into my VRS ownership and what has happened in that time?? Well shes been washed/polished almost every other day . Exactly a week after i got her, her engine management light came on. got her into the garage 4 hours later she had been diagnosed with a faulty temp sensor switch and a nice new one fitted. Next up i got her some new tread all round. Got Falken ZE912's on all 4 and i have to say im mighty impressed with them and that brings us up to the present apart from the fact that she never fails to make me smile at some point when im driving her So what has the future got in store?? Well after browsing the forums here i found that she'll need her timing belt/ water pump done as she's now 4 years old so ive got her booked in on August 17th so thats all good. . Im now in the process of finding a decent local car valeting company to come and give her carpets and seats a proper clean so that could be before the 17th of August but will probobaly be afterwards. The last owner (who i have to state obviously looked after her really well) unfortunately decided to wire up some 6x9's onto the parcel shelf and its really not to my taste so im going to get my mate to rewire up the old bose speakers and hope they work and aren't blowin . And source new parcel shelf (The god of ebay will hopefully help with that! ) The next part well think im going to need some advice with..... 1.Do i go along the route of an induction kit or just a replacement element? i'm not planning on upgrading the exhaust system just yet so is it maybe better if i just get a replacement element? 2.With regards to the speaker situation, If i do need to replace the rear ones can anyone advise me where to get them from? don't want to go through skoda directly as i know it'll be costly......But needs must and i need those eyesores away from my parcel shelf 3. Anyone with the black magic skodas share which polish they use on their cars? I have Turtle wax ice just now and although i enjoy its ease of application and removal i tend to find it leaves my paintwork looking kind of petrolly (if you understand what i mean ) ive tried the ice then going over that with meguiars wax but seems to give the same result. Just like to know what others would recomend. 4.Any other general tips welcome!!!! so there we are totally up to speed with whats been happening in my VRS tenure so far. Heres to more smiley days ahead!!
  13. Its the petrol engine BulletRob. sorry taken so long to get my pics up but with the site being down didn't get the chance sooner but here she is...... Pics aren't great but its a start
  14. Hopefully get sum pics tomorrow
  15. Well after a couple of probs with paperwork i finally picked up the car last night. Can't BELIEVE!!!! how good she feels on the road. My mouth muscles are going to start hurting soon if i don't stop smiling HaHa!!!! Not had a proper drive of her yet and im working today so may get a wee run in her tonight after i finish or most likely tomorrow (After a proper wash ovcourse!!!)(And weather depending!!) All in all so far im really enjoying my vRS ownership.....Long may it continue Thanks for all the welcome messages, i look forward to being part of the site. Cheers again
