  1. Can anyone help please Octavia 3 front left side fog light not working, bulb ok no power. Is there a seperate fuse and if so where is it located
  2. Just had the pleasure of having to work on the pipe from the master cylinder to the slave MY ADVICE IS RUN AS FAR AWAY FROM IT AS YOU CAN, it's a nightmare. It is done by removing the air pipe from the back of the engine then the water expansion bottle look down on top of the gear box and you will see the pipe it is metal from the slave back for about 6 inches going around several bends (connected to the slave by a sliding clip easy)then pressed into a rubber hose which crosses the top of the gearbox where it goes back to metal under chamber (for some reason the engineres though it would be a great place to secure it to the body with a metal clip secured by a screw (impossible to get at) then it turns up through the chamber just under the servo and through the firewall into the master cylinder on top of the clutch pedal at no stage can you replace the pipe leaving the old one in place as it is impossible to get it out from the master cylinder without removing the servo so best of luck to anyone taking on this task. I was kinda lucky as the pipe busted just after he rubber section about 4 inches from the slave but it still took about 3 hrs and 2 pairs of hands to get the pipe cut and an old type joint (the ones with the olives) to get it repaired
  3. before yoou go buying a servo unit check to steel pipe coming out of the vacum pump it connects to a rubber hose that goes to the servo unit this steel pipe is squeezed with a flange to the vacum pump and works its way loose to repair just put a bit of apoxy glue pushed into the seam and before it hardens tap the joint tight again if it is the servo unit the 05 reg passat has the same servo
  4. Try the boost sensor at the back of the engine common fault on 1.9 diesel (its on the air pipe with a plug simlar to the one on the maf sensor)
  5. My 2004 1.9 awx has just over 250K only problems were the water ingress issue, 2 sets of front joints, 1 set of shocks, one altenater (self inflicted from jump starting others), temp sensor. I put it down to regular service at 10K using quality oil and forget about variable servicing. I do all the work myself. My plan was to sell it on about 6 months ago as I replaced it with a volvo s60 but a brother in laws BMW threw a wobbly so he has been driving it since and he rates it a better car. Another thing I belive in is good honest hard driving, diesel cars don't like plodding around at 40 miles an hour
  6. The standard wiring kit is ok for the superb 1 up to 2006 as I have done several.
  7. most likely cause of your problem with the drivers door is the micro switch on the lock mechanism that controls the interior lights to check this unlock the doors using the remote open the drivers door (this should disable the relock facility) just close the door but dont lock if the door relocks itself then the relock facility has not recieved a signal from the micro switch now for the bad news if it is the switch Mr Skoda only sells the complete lock unit. Now for some good news you can replace it with a decent push button switch from Mr toyota 2000 avensis (local breakers yard ) take the wires down to the bottom of the door drill a little hole and hey presto job done the other problem with the red display and sometimes KMs instead of MPG is the comfort module under the carpet having a little fun and doesn't seem to get any worse with time
  8. check out the bottom engine mount get someone to rock the engine back and forward if there is excessive movement then it could be your problem cost £25 and does give trouble
  9. Try quigg breakers Rasharkin Ballymena (just google) they do both second hand and new VW and Skoda parts and do deliveries via Currier
  10. The Superb is just basically a better assembled passat with more room and a higher spec but carries the same faults as the VW due to the fact that it has the same design so if your looking for a less rattly car that feels more comfortable -then the superb if you are a badge buyer then the passat
  11. take the old one with you to the breakers most likely the b5 2005 model will fit the bushes are the same
  12. pulled the light out tonight a simple little job it turns out that the led is assembled in a plastic holder and soldered in place simple enough to remove and comes out of the holder handy enough but the tails on it are about 1 inch in length so it might not be that simple to get a replacement from an electronic shop plus when you remove the right led the left one goes out as they are on a circuit. Its amazing how much you miss them when the are both out. My first thought at this stage is to just get a red one and replace just the one cause the less soldering done on a circuit board the better but things do change
  13. I can see me experimenting with a rainbow of colours if they are readily available from maplins but I would agree with those who don't like orange lights, had a peugeot and hated the orange dash lighting also the red lighting on the vw golf door switches looks as if its shouting at you but seen the Volvo r design which has blue dash lighting and its class. At the end of the day it probably doesn't matter what colour the dash lights are after a while you get fed up looking at them anyway. P.S from time to time my dot matrix display changes from orange to red and changes from miles to kms dont like that colour either but as there is 226000miles on the car i'm to lazy to investigate why this is happening and after you switch the car off and on again it returns to normal - anyone else seen this
  14. might have a look at them at the weekend not so sure about the white though I would have thought that it would have been more distracting than the red and I must say I like the red will let ye know how it goes but if anyone knows of any pitfalls please let me know I dont want to have to end up super gluing all back together
