  1. Is the throttle body quite an easy thing to get off and clean? I did the same to the egr valve and it helped a bit but whilst a reasonably practical person I'm not a mechanic by any means. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Hi all, hopefully i'm in the right section for some assistance. The problem car in question is a 1.4 16v petrol VW Lupo on a 52 plate. I believe this is the same engine as the fabias of that era as well as many other smaller cars. It suffers what I understand to be a very common problem with that engine: Check engine and EPC warning lights illuminating. It is also suffering lumpy idle, and loss of power to the extent that the engine sometimes just smoothly 'dies' when you try to pull away. Research has pointed to the EGR valve being the main culprit for the problem, so off it came, plenty of carb cleaner and a bit of a clean up. This seemed to make the car drive better but the lights were still there. I have purchased a new EGR valve ready to fit.... thats where things got a bit more complicated. Before removing the old EGR valve the following fault codes were logged: 16407 ?? 16786 EGR valve excessive flow. 17550 load calculation cross check: lower limit exceeded These were all cleared and the new EGR valve fitted. Ignition on and checked codes... YAY! None of those three had come back. So turned the to start the car - it fired, started then instantly died and there was no response at all from pressing the accelerator. Checked the codes again. This time we got some new ones. 18047 Accelerator Position sensor 1/2 (G79/G185) Implausible signal 18042 Accelerator Position sensor 2 (G185): Signal too high Cleared these with no change in outcome so I refitted old EGR valve, started up and back to square one. Is anyone able to assist with a possible solution at all please? All help appreciated! Rob
  3. Wires go in the red marked points on the block. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I bought some cables directly from a vw dealer... Yellow ones specifically for audio, but without the connector. Then I soldered them to the 3.5mm jack socket installed in the button blank, and plugged the other end into the main wiring block as mine had the cd changer installed also. Edit: here is the part number for the cables: 000 979 010 Those ones
  5. A bit of a search should reveal a guide on here somewhere which is rather good... It's what I followed to do mine. An easy mod though which makes a world of difference to the car [emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. The adaptor was the dealer's solution prior to getting hold of a proper cable and he said that works fine with his 4.
  7. Ah I see. I figured from what id read around various forums that you get the usb/old iphone cables but the lightning ones were still like rocking horse droppings and about £70 to try and order in! In fact as recently as two days ago vw told me they weren't even available yet. Flip side is I didn't get the usb one but I think I can manage without.
  8. A bit of hope for people waiting for new orders... I picked up my new golf 7 today (not skoda, I know!) and the dealer gave me the MDI cable with the iphone 5 lightning connector, and it works flawlessly. He did say it was the first and only one they had in but at least it suggests they're coming and should be sent out with more cars as the months go on
  9. Last night on M25 around Swanley... Shogun or similarly large 4x4 tank wearing ORG454M.
  10. When I did a cheap DIY refurb on my winter wheels (the Audi a3 ones that look a bit like snowflakes!) I used a specific wheel laquer that I got from halfords. Seemed to work well and didn't flake at all. It went very hard, unlike the standard bodywork laquer that I've also used before.
  11. Hi I'm currently in discussion with another member interested in them but if that falls through ill let you know. Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2
  12. Yeah I'm not sure i do the mileage to warrant it. Wasn't really sure what the cost would be involved. Guess it might be easier to just live with the higher revs until new car time. I've had mine for just over 4 years now and done about 55k in it so I might just be getting a bit of an itch. Maybe a new stereo might be a cheaper cure!
  13. A change in commute to 95% motorway has got me to thinking... How possible would it be to retrofit a 6 speed box to my PD105? I'm thinking from a fabia vrs PD130? Maybe a superb? It may be completely impossible but just thinking it might help to drop the revs at cruising speed, which are quite high I find. Or am I mad?
  14. Got my renewal through from CKnott and wasn't that much lower than last year. A quick shop around and some proof of a lower quote emailed to a very helpful lady called Dawn, and I'm about £300 better off and a very happy customer. Thoroughly recommended.
  15. I would imagine there'd be something on the plate where all the paint code and engine codes are. Maybe?! Mine does have the factory option with the Pegasus wheels but its an elegance not a vrs so a bit easier to tell.
