  1. Skoda Octavia 2.0 PD 140 (TDI) Elegance 2005 - 54 Plate - 208300 miles FSH (All Main dealer or VAG specialist) £1300 ono Here is my 2005 Skoda Octavia 2.0 PD 140 (BKD Engine). I bought this car in July 2009 with approx 62k miles on the clock, with full service history. The vehicle has now covered almost 208300. The mileage the vehicle has covered is due to my daily work commute and has not been used for Private hire during my ownership. The vehicle was purchased when I used to work in the North East of England (I live in Glasgow). It spent the first 2 1/2 years in my ownership commuting from Scotland to Newcastle every week. Since January 2012 it has been used to commute from Glasgow to Edinburgh daily, so much of the mileage is motorway based. Just taxed for 6 months (Expires 21/01/15) MOT'd till 15/02/15 2 previous owners plus me Specification: This Octavia has a good specification being an Elegance model with some options: Cruise Control Maxidot cluster display (upgraded driver information system) Multifunction steering wheel Rain sensitive wipers Auto dimming rear view mirror Front and rear parking sensors (System deactivated due to two faulty rear sensors) The vehicle also has a Dension Gateway 300 Ipod kit fitted in place of the CD changer. This normally shows on the Maxidot display, but is not at the moment. Condition: Overall, the car is in clean condition. Its 9 1/2 years old and has covered over 200k miles, so do not expect to find a mint car here. That said it does not look like a car that has covered this mileage, which has been remarked upon by garages and MOT stations. There are a couple of minor dings and a number of stone chips that are corroding throughout the body work. There are signs of corrosion on the front wheel arches. The worst area of damage is shown in one of the pictures, where there is slight panel damage to the front of the rear nearside wheel arch where the rear door closes. The interior is clean as shown in the pictures and does not suffer from the drivers door card damage common on this model of octavia. The engine bay has not been cleaned up, so what you see is what you get. I hate sparkling engine bays that might be hiding leaks etc. I have posted some videos on youtube to show the condition, please see the following links.: Service History: The car was on long life servicing up to 100K miles, which were carried out by Main dealers. From 100K miles, the car was put onto regular 10K service intervals (recommended to me by an Audi Technician), all work being carried out by VAG specialists. It was last serviced approximately 15k miles ago (See below) Stamps in the book as follows: 02/12/05 - 18207 Miles 08/11/06 - 36581 Miles 16/04/08 - 55928 Miles 20/11/09 - 74392 Miles 30/07/10 - 92646 Miles 07/03/11 - 111770 Miles 12/07/11 - 121701 Miles 17/11/11 - 132018 Miles 14/03/12 - 141268 Miles 17/07/12 - 150925 Miles 22/11/12 - 162113 Miles 14/03/12 - 172028 Miles 06/08/13 - 184486 Miles 23/11/13 - 193868 Miles Timing belts... I understand the recommended timing belt intervals are at 80K miles. This vehicle has had three at approx 60K, 120K and 180K. The water pump was also replaced along with the belt at 120 & 180k. The last belt and water pump was done on 06/08/13 @ 184486 miles Some fairly recent work: All brake discs and pads replaced on 29/03/13 @ 173409 miles New Bosch Battery fitted on 15/05/13 @ approx 178200 miles New (genuine) alternator fitted on 17/05/13 @ 178406 miles EGR valve replaced on 07/02/13 @ 169060 miles The car was suffering from poor starting earlier this year. This was diagnosed by a VAG specialist to be a wiring fault, which caused an ECU fault. They repaired the wiring fault and sent the ECU for repair. No issues with starting now. This repair alone cost £420. Bad points: Only one advisory on the last MOT in Februrary 2014 (Rear shock misting oil). Both rear shocks now need replaced. Front tyres need replaced Some bodywork rust from stone chip damage (Sills above stone chip guard, wings, doors and boot lid) Has front and rear parking sensors, however these do not work (Needs two rear replacement sensors I am told) Radiator has a slight leak. Not been replaced and it only needs topped up once a month. I have been advised of a faulty glow plug. This has not been replaced as its not causing any starting problems. The aircon is not working correctly. "ECON" climate mode works fine Car is SOLD AS SEEN with no warranty
  2. My Octavia is about to turn 200k in the next couple of weeks. I'm still toying with the idea of changing it for a Superb whenever the Octavia needs something, but once rectified, I'm happy. Car is an early 2005, 54 plated 2.0 PD140 Elegance. Good spec, xenons etc... Full history - Skoda upto 100K on long life, then serviced every 10K at specialists since then using genuine parts (Running out of stamps in the book now) Timing belts done at 60k, 120k and 180k inc. water pump etc.. Just went through an MOT at 198K with only one advisory. At its last service, the guy who owns the garage remarked on how clean the car is and drives like a car thats done way less that the odometer says. I've seen a few examples on 200K+ advertised by traders for what I'd say is silly money. What are the thoughts on what I could get privately for the car ?
  3. Had this problem before. Once was when I found the beam too low. Quick look inside the front nearside wheel arch revealed a broken level sensor linkage. Easy fix to replace, but they linkage wasn't available on its own, so new sensor needed. The other issue I've has is one light wouldn't level not long after a bulb change and just before an mot. Removed the light and reseated the connector, all ok. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
  4. Price was pretty good, but given the paint readings, I'd rather pass on it. That's the trouble with second hand car buying. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
  5. Well the first car I looked at today sounded promising. 57 plate L&K with just under 60k, full dealer history etc. Looked a clean car, but walked away. Have a paint thickness gauge, so took it with me. Print readings on my car and a few other Octys / vag cars are 120-160 microns. This one was reading 250-300 mostly with the rear quarter just over the 300 mark. The bonnet and inner sills etc were all ok. Never looked at the L&K before. Have to say a lovely interior with the piano black trim and leather / alcantara. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
  6. Ahh, thanks for the replies. I did figure that an engine makes a noise when running ;-) As long as its not too rattley at idle. Heard so many petrols that sound diesel like these days. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
  7. Thanks for all the replies guys. I guess when I get a chance to view one, if its not silent when the bonnets up, I'll just walk away. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
  8. Another vote for the rubber pad on emergency jack, points. Mines an EBay special. Hockey puck which I cut an offset slot in it and shaped to suit the will profile. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
  9. Looking for a bigger car for my wife, so since my own octy has served me well, I'm considering another for her. It'll be a short journey low mileage use, so not keen on diesels with dpfs etc. The 1.8 seems a possibility, with Good reviews. One thing that concerns me is the reports of the engine being busy, whilst others say it's silent. Other than that, I'm familiar with other issues to look for. Is there any years to avoid on the 1.8TSI? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
  10. How easy is it to change the trim ? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
  11. I always though the kit was around £110-120 + water pump. Has this dropped recently, as I found another post from earlier this year saying the TPS price was just over £100 including the water pump ? Might help explain the very competitive quote I've got for replacement. Thanks. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
  12. Henry's in Glasgow have a race blue estate. Sorry no other details. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
  13. Thanks for the suggestions. I've heard a few good reports about Henry's servicing dept, but my current car is a bit long in the tooth to go back to a dealer for work. Likely to give them a go once a change to a newer car. I'll take a look at the other places. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
  14. I tried posting this in the care car section with no joy, so giving it another go here. Looking for any recommendations for specialists in the Glasgow area. Thanks. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk HD
