  1. hi is there anyone in berkshire who could help me with my fuel pump as it is slightly retared . i need someone to help me who knows what they are doing. the car is a octv 1.9 tdi alh engine 2001 , the car starts ok in the cold weather under 5oc but any warmer and it struggles to start.

  3. hi could anyone help, i have a 1.9tdi 2001 octarvia (ALH engine) with 200.000 miles on the clock. I have a big problem with cold starting which takes 30s to start with the engine cranking over and pumping out lots of white smoke. its not lossing coolent, Once the car has started then it will start on the button all day long. i have tryed cleaning the ERG valve, replaced glow plugs, replaced glowplug relay, checked glowplug power , replaced CTS (coolent temp sensor) , replaced MAF sensor , turbo was striped and cleaned (sticking turbo vains). The cambelt was changed about 10000 miles ago but it was done by a vw chap that only timmed the pump to the timming marks, i have had someone tell me that i need to get fuel pump timming checked on a computer to see if it not retarded. cheers

  6. could anyone give me advice on how to test the glow plugs on my car because i started the car today without the glow plug lead conected and it started just the same. i now i think this could be the problem , the glow plugs in the car are new but i dont think there is any power to them.
  7. today i tryed to start it diffrentley, instead of holding of starting untill the glow plug light goes out and giving it extra 20s before starting from cold. i got in and turned the key straight away and it fired over in 5sec which was better, this weekend i will clean the erg valve and see what diffrency that makes.
  8. hi its done 207000 miles and it takes inbetween 5 -10s to start , dont know about fuel injectors service and the mpg is very good , the car has just gone to cornwall and back in one weekend 500 miles one one tank £50 (i love that ).
  9. hi replaced the temp coolent sensor yesterday (CTS) , tryed so start it this morning and it has made no diffrence.
  10. the 3rd piston was changed due to the rings went oil everywhere hence all the cleaning and i still have not yet getting around to check the cat, and i did loose water after rebuild for 500 miles only about 500ml in total but there was no coolent in the system at the time. since then it has been flushed and drained and coolent/ water put in and no water loss since. the cambelt was changed by a vag mechanic with all the correct vag setting tools but it was not hooked up to a computer
  11. hi all i have also had the cambelt changed and glow plugs replaced, and today i have had the fuel pump timming checked. i will by a coolent temp sensor and see if it solves the problem
  12. yes the fuel filter and oil filter cave been changed also new 3rd piston and turbo cleaned new oil and coolent about 3000 miles ago
  13. hi could anyone point me in the right direction on how to solve my starting problem with my oct 1.9 tdi (ALH) , when starting the car when cold after the plug light goes out i hold the key for about 6-10sec on starter on foot on pedle then it fires over with an large amount or white smoke. but as soon as it has started the smoke clears straight away. also once it has started then all day long with lots of engine off and ons its starts on the key first time.:confused: cheers
  14. info update. i have the vag com done on the car and it came up with over boost condition error, so for the last two days i have under took the big task of stripping the turbo out ouf the car , and following a step by step guide from MOLEY of VNT turbo cleaning. just put car back together and it works fine.
