  1. Just to conclude on this one for the benefit of anyone else who gets this problem, the answer was that the pipe taking the washer fluid to the rear wiper had split. The water had caused corrosion in the electrical connections inside the rear door. This lead to all of the erratic electrical symptoms. Thanks to everyone for assistance. Michael L
  2. Thanks for this suggestion. I ended up going somewhere a bit more sophisticated than my usual garage. They discovered that the pipe taking the washer fluid to the rear wiper had split. This had allowed water to get onto the electrical connections in the rear door and they have corroded. This explained the warning light but also the fault is feeding back to the control unit in the steering column and erratically causing other problems. The diagnostic showed that all of the recent alarms had been triggered by the rear door. Let's hope this is the end of the story! Michael L
  3. Unbelievably, five minutes after typing the message above the car alarm went off and I see that the problem has returned once more. It had been fine for two weeks. There must be some connection with the wiper problem because that also returned today. See the other post. This is driving me nuts! Michael L
  4. Hi all, My electrical gremlin is back. The front wipers keep coming on without the switch being touched. They run for several miles, stop for a bit and then start up again. Sometimes they sweep for six times or so, stop, then start again. This happened before a few weeks ago and then rectified itself apparently but not permanently. This is happening in perfectly dry weather so I'm not thinking its the sensor but you never know. Its a 2014 Roomster. Just as I was typing this the alarm went off and I see that the door open warning has returned! See my earlier post about gremlins! I'd be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks Michael L
  5. Just to close this one off, the suggestion of replacing the latch was correct. No more warning lights and no more false alarms, so thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Michael
  6. Hi, Thanks very much for the suggestion. That makes perfect sense so I'll get the catch changed. There is no wet in the spare wheel well by the way. Michael
  7. Happy New Year! I've put this in the Roomster forum as well but I'm not sure it is model specific and I've had only one reply in there. Report post I have a 2014 Roomster Mk 2 which has developed an elecrical gremlin. The door open indicator on the dash is permanently on even when all doors are firmly shut. Sometimes the boot pops open without being asked to do so. The warning light stays on all of the time but goes out if I apply the brakes. While the brakes are on the light flashes but comes back on immediately the brakes are released. Also the boot interior light is on permanently so I have taken that out to save the battery. The dash warning stays on even after the car has been locked. I'd be grateful for any clues. Thanks Michael
  8. Thanks for that. I gave it a try but without success. The weird thing about this problem is why the warning light goes out and starts flashing when I put my foot on the brake. Michael

By the way, the wipers woudln't turn off for a couple of days just before Christmas. That issue has gone away but maybe a connection? Thanks in advance Michael
  10. It's a January 2014 car bought from a Skoda dealer so it has an approved warranty. I managed to get a print out of the service history and that shows the 34H5 (whatever that is) but somehow they couldn't seem to find a service schedule that they could let me have. Odd. Michael
  11. Thanks all. I've established that the car has had 34H5, although I don't know whatr that is! Will follow up the other suggestions. Michael
  12. Hi all, My recently acquired Roomster 1.2 DSG (2104 model) came with no service book because the main dealers do it all electronically apparently. But I go to an independent (plus some DIY) so I need to acquire a service schedule for this car. Any ideas where to get this will be appreciated. Perhaps someone has a scan or web copy? Thanks Michael
  13. It works! Opening a rear window one inch does the trick. Thanks Michael
  14. Thanks Ed and all. I think this clears the matter up now. It's not a fault but an oddity which the handbook does not explain. So no trip back to the dealer. Excellent! Michael
  15. Thanks again everyone. I'm beginning to think that it's not a fault but more of an oddity. I've now worked out that the probelm only arises if the temperaturwe control is on minimum. If I click it up a wee bit the recirculation goes off. But if I leave it on minimum it seems to stay on indefinitely. Michael L
  16. Thanks for the comments. Actually I don't have climatronic on this car. Looking more closely at it, the sequence is: 1. Turn on ignition and the a/c light comes on. 2. Start the engine and the recirculation comes on. I see in the handbook that there is a foot note saying that "in certain circumstances" the recirculation will come on automatically but it's not clear what the circumstances are. I'm hoping to figure out if this is a fault becasue I've only just acquired the car. Michael L
  17. I hope you all won't mind a Roomster owner intruding here, but the system is the same and there are more of you on the Fabia forum. When I turn on the ignition, the a/c automatically turns on the recirculation so I have to rememember to turn it off every time I start off. This is irritating! Has anyone experienced this problem and perhaps have a solution? Thanks Michael L
  18. No, not relevant but thanks for replying. Michael
  19. Hi, When I turn on the ignition, I've noticed that the air recirculation comes on without my switching it on. I turn it off but the next time I start up it is back on again. It's irritating rather than a big deal but any thoughts on how to stop it would be appreciated. Thanks Michael
  20. Thanks for the advice. I'll try the cheaper option first! Michael L
  21. Good afternoon, I've just sold my Octavia and bought a Roomster 1.2 DSG. It's all good except that I notice a lot of wind buffeting if I drive with the window open. I see that there is an aftermarket deflector, although they don't look great. The question is do they make a significant difference? Thanks Michael L
  22. Hi there, Yes it is sorted. It just took two attempts to hard wire the connectors under the driver's seat. That's the sure fire solution. By the way, I see you are in Reading. I used to live down there and there is a very good independent Skoda man in Sonning Common. Sean Smith at VAG Tech on 01491 629926/07763749993. Good luck Michael
  23. I have the common problem of the airbag warning light coming on. The diagnostic said that there is a fault on both front seats so I have had the wiring hard wired to avoid the connectors which usually cause the problem. The diagnostic cleared for the passenger seat but not the driver's seat so the light is still on. Does anyone have any suggestions? I gather that if it is actually a real airbag fault, the whole seat has to be replaced, which I guess is mega expensive. But apparently this is very rare, whereas the wiring problem is not. I'm told that I can't just leave this unfixed because it is an MoT failure. Thanks in advance Michael
  24. Just completed resealing the rear doors and thanks for the advice. Its a very easy job but I'd make a couple of suggestions. The clips that held the panel to the door self destructed as I took the panel off. So get a new set before you start. They've changed the design to make them more robust. Old ones were green, new are white. Also because the old foam can't be completely removed and will be damp, use a very serious sealant that bonds when damp. I used Unibond Extreme which is for gutters etc. Michael
