  1. Hi, Does anyone know what the side bolsters are made from on the new Octavia vRS black 'full' Alcantara option? I know that on the Superb, it's an Alcantara middle, with synthetic leather sides (my preference). I think this is the same with the regular vRS cloth and leather seats. I prefer non cow, if that isn't obvious. All this would have been simpler had VW not stopped the tartan cloth seats in the current GTI, and replaced them with leather. Unless anyone knows a way around that. Slightly annoyed by VW's arrogance in the matter, and hence considering the sideways brand defection! Thanks, PK
  2. Hi, Could anyone recommend somewhere friendly in London (North, ideally) that has an Octavia vRS (manual, petrol) available for a 24 hour test drive? I make my best decisions without the influence of other humans. Thanks, Paul
  3. Thanks for that Dekka, Typical German (well, Austrian) efficiency in terms of their car configurator working. It gives me a rough idea. Interesting how different colours suit different cars, and indeed, interesting how a different colour can alter the perception of the actual shape. As for black getting dirty, perhaps the Scout is the one model where that compliments the vehicle. Thanks again for the heads up. Paul
  4. Cheers Dude, Obviously someone with great taste! Actually, I better wait for the pictures When you get it, I'd love to see a pic.
  5. Thanks Curley. But I'm wondering, why didn't you comment on how it actually looked Fair enough, you're a vRS man. Me too. But I'm a Scout also, or so time will tell!
  6. Hi, Does anyone have a pic or pics of a facelifted Scout in Black Magic finish? I've gone through Google Images and Flickr but can't see anything. Perhaps no one has ever ordered a facelifted Scout in black... Cheers, PK
  7. Hey, I appreciate good engineering above everything, so if it's Skoda or Lamborghini (same parent company), it doesn't really matter to me! Eldorado, moi? I'm a movie actor! And I'm in a little film coming out this year... http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1802200/ For more info... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Khanna And if you want to see how a bit of why... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGnt11vbOV4 As for the spoiler, well I'm sure its engineering isn't necessary, especially at Muggle speed limits. Thanks for all the advice guys, will be using it quite soon. PK
  8. Hi As a potential vRS buyer, I was wondering if the rear spoiler can be removed easily from the car? I'm thinking if not, perhaps by ordering a non exclusive vRS paint colour (e.g.: black), I could entirely replace the boot lid. Also, I think I read on the international Skoda site, that Czech spec cars often have different seat materials. Does anyone have an idea about changing seats? Specifically, I'd like to avoid leather completely, and have an all fabric or all Alcantara chairs. I believe that the seats in a Superb are Alcantara and faux leather, but the vRS seats have synthetics and half (real) leather? The reason for removing the spoiler is to reduce any kind of attention (I'm an actor trying to hide), and the reason for the avoidance of leather, is that I'm a vegetarian who doesn't like it! I think cows skin has no place in a well made mechanical machine! Cheers.
  9. Hi Does anyone know if the rumours are true regarding a new possible 2 litre petrol engine for the Superb? As Skoda get engines from their VW dad, I'm assuming he has decided it's time to hand down something slightly more powerful than the 1.8 currently on offer. If it's more than a rumour, then I might hang around for one, and possibly skip the 2.0 litre powered Octavia vRS. Cheers!
  10. Hi there, Sorry if this post asks for questions that have 'been done'! I had a brief look through the forums but finding the right answer is like finding Dunkin' Donuts in Victoria Beckham's diet. I'd like to buy an Octavia vRS. Specifically a: New Petrol engined Manual Hatchback (Probably in black) Now, when I say new, I don't mean the newest of the new. For clarification, I mean this one: http://www.topgear.com/uk/skoda/octavia-vrs Do the last few of these have the slightly improved interior layout that the Limited Edition one has? I don't mean leather seats (and as a vegetarian, I don't want them, no matter how great they look!). Apart from the grey paint, alloys, badging and trip computer, it's roughly the same as the standard model that I want, right? It's just that I read something on Honest John that seemed to suggest the Limited Edition has a few differences other than those I listed or Googled. I prefer the standard (outgoing) vRS to the Limited as I would like a sunroof, curtain airbags, heated seats, and probably different paint, and apparently the latter can't have any extras. So, finally I get to my most specific question! Can I get one of these still? I read somewhere about the new (new new!) ones starting to roll off the production lines on May 25th. I know with the current climate, there are still outgoing brand new vRS's around, but I'm not sure if I could get the bits I wanted (sunroof, heated seats etc). Even if cars aren't shifting much, they surely can't change the production line for me! I've only recently discovered the vRS. Reading the reviews, and between the lines, it's clearly a great car. I'm fed up with badge snobs, and snobs in particular. The story of the Skoda founders is an admirable one. Similar to Lamborghini and Honda in many ways. I just want a chance to get one before they go. I wanted a BMW M 635CSi, and they stopped making it. I wanted a Ford Mondeo ST220, and they stopped making it. Let's hope I can beat the cliche and get a new vRS! Cheers, for any help received. Or even just reading this waffle. As an actor, and someone who appreciates no nonsense engineering, a vRS is perfect. Paul K
