  1. After further investigation I have found that the front nearside bearing has gone. I bought the new hub and bearing complete from Partco and was wondering if somebody could tell me if this is a DIY job or best to leave to the garage? I have read the Haynes manual and see that you ideally need a hydraulic press and a specialist tool to refit the assembly. It is necessary to have these? Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Phil
  2. I am hoping somebody can shed a little light on a problem I am having. My 02 Fabia 1.9tdi has developed what sounds like an exhaust blowing noise yet on inspection I am unable to find any holes or feel any air escaping. The noise is only noticeable when the car is moving and seems to get quiter when the steering wheel is turned to the right (coincidence maybe). My temperature gauge also stopped working shortly after the noise started. Any suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks, Phil
  3. Thanks for the info. Didn't realise you had to pay a membership fee. I am a member of various forum sites and have never heard of this before.
  4. Hi Guys, I would like to start a new "For sale" thread in the non automative section and can not understand why it says that I can not star a new topic. Could somebody please shed some light on this for me. Thanks, Phil
  5. Thanks to this thread I fixed my rattle today. Lost one of the clips and 2 others broke so I had to super glue them but apart from that it was a success. Well, I haven't been on a long drive yet but when I popped down the road there was no longer a rattle. It was harder to remove the vent than I expected and although I used 6 credit cards, I found that prizing out the bottom first was the easiest option. I used a plastic floor spacer cut in half and wedged it into the gap whilst loosely taped to a long screwdriver and it seems to be stuck well in there. Not sure if other people had to do this but I needed to guide the vent back into place using the credit cards positioned under the clips as they were catching. Thanks to everybody who has contributed to the thread.
  6. Just registered with the site and wanted to say hello to all of the users here. Bought my Fabia 1.9tdi Elegance last month and love it apart from the annoying rattle above the central heater vents, but after searching the threads I see there is a solution. Woohoo! Although not too sure how easy it will be to remove the cover, any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Phil.
