  1. Started to get the dreaded elevated tickover on startup the other week. It was running at around 1300rpm but a dab on the throttle pedal brought it back down to what it should tickover at. Its well out of warranty now but still only has 27k on the clock so I thought "lets see if I can cure it myself". What I found was that if I put my toe under the throttle pedal and lifted the pedal up the tickover went straight back to normal as though the pedal hadn't seated in the closed position completely. So with ignition turned off I tried slamming the throttle pedal back against its stop a few times and imparting a sideways pull and push in the fully closed position a few times and hey presto, no high tickover since. Its worth a try and is a damn sight cheaper than a new throttle pedal. Cheers.
  2. Not just a problem with items stored in the boot as I found to my cost a few years ago. I had a low speed (20mph) head on crash in my punto with a transit van. The wife had bought a small glass jar of sweets which she had in her hand at the time of impact (she was in the passenger seat). This jar became an unguided missile as it bounced around the cabin and ended up hitting the wife square in the face (luckily no damage to the sweets .lol.)She was ok but it could have been a lot worse and we quickly learnt to stow everything properly so it would reduce the chance of the same thing happening again. Always expect the unexpected.
  3. I have had exactly the same issue with the heater on my 2008 1.4TDI. It started last August with hot air blowing constantly but then it became intermitent so a trip to the dealer for a free check (even though it was out of warranty)was arranged. They could not replicate the problem but thought it was a sticking flap motor due to it being left in the fully closed position for months on end. I've started moving the control knob more frequently now and this seems to have done the trick as it hasn't happened since. They did mention that if the motor needed changing it would be in the £200 bracket but Skoda would probably help with the cost so it could be worth taking it in and finding out. Cheers.
  4. I'm getting around the 53 mpg mark from my 80bhp in mixed driving conditions but thats on the cars computer so it may not be totally accurate. Its only got 8k on the clock so far but its been the same since I bought it with 2.5k on the clock. Cheers.
  5. Just one experience of DM's of Leeds when I was looking to buy a used Roomy in April this year. Parking is awful due to lots of cars crammed into a small car park. After looking at a Roomy and deciding to take it for a test drive, me and the wife were left sat in the showroom for twenty minutes because they couldn't find the keys for it. Offered me a test drive in a petrol Fabia instead when I wanted a diesel Roomy ????? Promised to phone through the week to organise a test drive but never did so I went elsewhere and bought.
  6. Hi all, just thought I'd give you a quick overview of my roomy's first proper run from Leeds to the Mull of Kintyre in Scotland. Me , the wife and the car covered just over 1100 miles in the week and I have to say I am so impressed with my first Skoda. No bum/back ache thanks to comfortable seats and driving position, an average of 53mpg from the 1.4TDI. Good suspension that dealt with the worst back road surfaces and so much space inside for all the holiday gear plus fishing tackle. There were a few other Roomies out there with the first one we encountered on the A66 giving us a cheery wave - another member maybe ? All in all a good holiday in a great car. Cheers.
  7. Just got myself an 08 Roomster 1.4TDI and its the most useful car I've ever bought. Not the best looking (imo) but for a small car its just so practical. Had it for six weeks now and can't fault it. Looks like its going to be reliable as well judging by all the owners reviews I've read. Cheers all:thumbup:.
