  1. By far the nicest estate thread I have read through, the car looks stunning and is great inspiration for me - I hope to buy myself a VRS estate on Sat. Thanks for such a pleasurable read - anymore updates?? Si
  2. Thank you very much, most reassuring - always best to ask these things of those that know. That being the case I reckon I might just be making a purchase on Saturday morning! Si
  3. Evening, So all things being equal I hope to view and purchase a 2015 Octavia VRS diesel with DSG gearbox on Sat. Doing my research and checking out MOT history and came across a advisory last year - Offside Front Shock absorbers light misting of oil or has limited damping effect (5.3.2 (b)) Whilst reading through some old posts just brushing up on my knowledge I noticed someone referring to the standards shocks as ‘made out of cheese’ and a ‘common problem’ on the VRS. That being the case should the above advisory be taken with a pinch of salt and something I should just keep an eye on, or is it signs of a hefty bill in the pipeline? No other major concerns, history is all good, cambelt and water pump done on time, DSG oil changed at required interval. The car has clearly been cared for but I am just wondering if the tester was a tad ‘over zealous’ or if this advisory points towards something more sinister. Being from an independent trader it has 3 months warranty so presumably if I bring it to their attention and tell them I am aware of the advisory then an failure within those 3 months should be covered? I know often these warranties aren’t worth the paper they are written on but just trying to suss out my position. Si
  4. As the title suggests I am based in Somerset, I joined this forum many years ago but have yet to own a Skoda until possibly now! I recently sold my Range Rover Sport just before the New Year and was looking for a car that had all the practicality of the RRS but minus the costs, it was a truly lovely car but inhaled money on a daily basis. So I need something that I can use everyday to get to work, offers practicality for family holidays, doesnt cost the earth and can be looked after by a very trusted VAG mechanic I know. My car history is extensive (53 cars!) but predominently German, I enjoy the build quality they offer but its now time to break the mould and make my money go a bit further. I have seen a lovely VRS estate TDi with DSG gearbox fairly local to me, it has covered 92k but has an extensive and well documented service history and is very well specced, from my reading on here the mileage shouldn't really be an issue? Lots of little mods/upgrades I have seen documented on other peoples threads and I am excited at the prospect of hopefully buying this and making it my own. Anyway will keep this thread updated and if all goes to plan will post some pics on the weekend. Si
  5. What an excellent thread, I just navigated my way over hear to do some research around the MK3 VRS estate and found your thread via Google. The car looks amazing and I love the OEM+ route you have gone with it, I am literally about to phone a dealer about a VRS estate later today I hope to place deposit with a view to collecting on Sat. Thanks for the inspiration and keep the updates coming Si
  6. I would be really interested in this, just in the process of tying up a deal on my E46 M3 so will be in touch. Si
  7. Could be interested in this but would like more info re the damage? Sit
  8. Ignore my previous two posts on your other threads, I found this one!! Looks great, did a good job for DIY bud! Si
  9. Read your other thread expecting pics of finished job and there weren't any, then found this thread and still none - really interested to know if you did it and if so see some pics??? I have a 5 digit numberplate hence interest.... Si
  10. Did this ever get done or die in the water?? The pic above with F2 UNK numberplate looks great! Si
  11. Yes I think I will have a chat and see what the situation is, you would think if it was mapped etc they would advertise the fact!?! Si
  12. Had a good read of that cheers, good few pointers on there. It's covered 73,000 i am not sure about engine code but guessed it was a BLT, looks a nice smart example will post up some more after my first viewing! Si
  13. Thanks for that, allegedly the previous owner was a 'mature gentleman' and was a Skoda tech so everything done through the dealer and it has been meticulously maintained. We will see I guess! It's got cruise which is a bonus I guess, other than that it's standard stuff by the looks of it. Si
  14. That's a hefty cost then at their expense! vRS Joe - it did cross my mind but I guess no way of knowing for sure?!? Si
  15. Thanks chaps, different way of looking at it - in fact I am told it has a Lifetime Warranty!?!?!? It's also had a new clutch and flywheel fitted by the dealer, they said it was a bit noisy so did both to be sure - what sort of cost would this replacement be so I have an idea of what expense I have dodged by them doing that?? Cheers Si
  16. Thanks for that, just didn't know whether it would alter running etc of the car if not 'mapped in' or anything like that?? Si
  17. Hello! I am potentially looking at an '06 Fabia VRS in the week which appears very well cared for with a Skoda tech as the last owner. The only thing that causes me a bit of concern is that it has had a Power Flow exhaust fitted, not really 100% sure whether someone would just for an exhaust and if I should be looking out for any other mods? Will it affect car if it has just had a cat back exhaust fitted? Does anyone have or experienced a Power Flow exhaust - but worried about noise etc. seems strange to fit a performance exhaust to a diesel?!? Any advice most welcome. Cheers Si
  18. What a lovely example, fair play to you - look forward to see it develop over 2014! Si
  19. I love the look of this Scout! Is there a journal or build thread anywhere? Also what grill is this - looks huge improvement! Si
