  1. If anyone wants to hard wire their dashcam, Amazon has a selection of simple to use kits. I chose https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07CF7P84V/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and fitted it in half an hour then probably another half hour to tidy the wires away. It has a selection of 3 different piggyback fuses, a transformer, a torpedo fuse holder, and a reasonable amount of cable. When ordering there is a choice of mini or micro USB connectors.
  2. Thank you for your advice. I looked for a piggyback fuse holder on Amazon and found a complete fitting kit for around £12. I fitted it in about half an hour and it works perfectly exactly as I wanted it.
  3. Is it possible to have the coding changed so the 12 volt socket goes on and off with the ignition? My dash cam starts as soon as it has power and off as soon as it doesn't. And I keep forgetting to pull the plug out. It would also mean I don't have to try to remember to disconnect the cool box when going onto a car ferry. Thanks
  4. Thank you. I'll have a look at the way you did it. I was going to ask for it to be done at the next service but it sounds like a big labour charge. If I can't do it your way I'll live without it. From memory on my Roomster, I don't think it's very bright anyway.
  5. The boot light on my 1.2 TSI Estate is disconnected and I can't find or reach the wire through the hole when I remove the light. So I think I need to remove the plastic panel but I can't see how that is done. Can anyone advise me please?
  6. Two of the last 3 punctures I've had have been bursts after hitting kerbs. Good job I had spares both times. The other time I tried a sealant on a normal puncture but it didn't work so I had to change the wheel anyway. Then I had to buy a new tyre because the puncture couldn't be repaired. So I advise a spare wheel every time (or run flat tyres)
  7. Sorry I messed up my reply and I can't find an edit button.
  8. Blasted predictive text. Should be "I might ask"
  9. Thanks, I wondered if it might be down to,the engine. I month ask for it to be checked on the service.
  10. My warranty runs out in the middle of May and I'll be booking a service before then and will want anything sorted out that needs it like the leak from the driver's door seal. So should my 2013 Fabia 1.2 TSI SE Estate have a seat belt warning on the front passenger seat? Also it seems to take longer to warm up until the blue light goes out than my Roomster 1.6 16v automatic did. Could this be a faulty thermostat, is it just the nature of the different type of engine, or even that the blue light sensor is calibrated differently. Any advice gratefully received.
  11. I didn't realise any of them had a passenger seat belt warning. I'm sure there's a post somewhere that said Fabias don't have them.
  12. Having come from a Roomster last October I can add a couple if my pet hates. It seems rediculous that there is no sear belt warning on the passenger seat. As I driver it's as much a habit to do it up as to but the key in and I never forget. Passengers are much more likely to forget and I relied on the warning on the Roomster when carrying my mother who is 95. Now I occasionally don't notice that she has forgotten it. I can live with the puny reversing light but the Roomster has 2 very bright ones which were obviously designed to see where your are going in reverse. I miss the rear interior lights but I don't want to mess about with the headlining to fit some. On both cars I dislike the daft position of the 12 volt socket between the seats which means caving cables draped around the gear lever. However these are minor niggles and I have no regrets about changing. The Combi boot is a better shape and seems bigger, because it's more usable, and I love the under-floor storage. It's nicer to drive and the 1.2 TSI 85 BHP engine is about 30% more economical than the 1.6 automatic it replaced yet gives better performance and is lovely to drive. And of course the headlights are light years ahead especially with Bosch Pure Light bulbs in the dip beams. Of course the last 2 comments would also apply to a newer Roomster.
  13. If you want Radio 5, you're lucky you don't have a Swing radio. It has only got FM.
