  1. I got 61mpg on a very steady drive into work one day but I tend to get around 45-48 most days.
  2. Sorry forgot to mention it was one of my front fogs...they're the round type !
  3. Anyone know where I can get a replacement fog for my Scout ? Found mine smashed the other day so need to swap it out. Tried e-bay but all I can find are ones for models 09 onwards, mines an 07. Don't want to pay dealer prices if I can help it !
  4. Octavia Scout TDi - Just got my Emissions Check Light on. Came on after the engine started to back off whilst overtaking someone. Made things a bit exciting !! Anyway it's on all the time now, plus the engine seems to back off at around 3500rpm, drives ok otherwise. In for a service this week coming so hopefully it'll get sorted then.
  5. Thinking of moving on and selling my Octavia Scout Tdi but wondering how much it'll be worth out there. 57 plate with 53k on the clock, met grey, alcantara interior, heated seats, xenons, fssh..etc... Anyone know what they are worth these days ?
  6. This is before I engage any gears so it's in neutral with engine at idle.
  7. Seem to have an issue with my clutch which I can't seem to tie down. Basically when the engine is cold, i.e first thing in the morning, I get a noise when the clutch pedal is approx halfway from fully pressed to fully lifted. It sounds a bit like the noise you'd get if you were trying to engage the gears without fully engaging the clutch, bit like a light cog on cog noise if that makes sense. Like I say, fully depressed or fully lifted there's no noise at all, just seems to occur during travel between the two positions. However, it makes this noise with the car in neutral. Get it down the road after things have been turning and hey presto all quiet again for the rest of the day even after car is stood all day at work. Next morning same again. Any clues ? Car runs smooth, no hiccups, no vibration, not difficult to engage gears etc..etc...
  8. Anyone with Hastings Direct and know what the extra cost in premium was ?
  9. Seriously want mine done but car is in being repaired after being sideswiped by a bus (2-3 week repair time ). Any chance on booking it for a later date at the same price if I add my name to the list ?
  10. Mine's athracite too, oh and red and blue and extremely dented and undriveable after a collision with a bus the other saturday. His fault I hasten to add.
  11. His web site state £349 for a standard stage 1 remap, what kind of discount are we looking at ?
  12. Would love to have it done on my Scout PDTdi.... not too worried about having STS though.
  13. Am thinking so but it's quite frustrating trying to pin it down exactly.....
  14. I don't believe he put new inserts in as one bolt had vanished completely and the other almost seemed to fall out. Two new ones he supplied went into the mounting bracket holes with no probs. He was going to loctite them but was concerned about getting them off again if needed so he just tightened them up with some spring washers to help. No lock nuts as the bolts go directly into the block underneath. So what mod did you carry out on your downpipe me wonders ?
  15. Will get it checked again on the service just to make sure all the pipework is it clear, car just seems a little more "boomy" at that rev range so I'm suspecting the exhaust is going slowly but surely.
  16. Had to have it up on ramps as it's only visible underneath. The bracket is just after the cat, pretty easy to spot, bit like an X shaped affair with 2 lower arms with bolts attaching to the block and 2 upper "prongs" for the exhaust to sit in. Hope that makes sense. Bit extra which may help: He also said that the airbox was vibrating quite badly, something the Golf suffers with too, he did a bit of tweaking/resecuring in that area which seemed to help.
  17. Turned out to be the front exhaust mount on mine.
  18. Turned out to be the front mounting bracket. One bolt had gone, the other was just hanging on in there. Both bolts replaced with new ones by my mechanic mate, as the inserts had gone too, and problem seems to have mostly gone away. Exhaust note has changed though so am wondering if some damage has been caused by it moving around.
  19. Getting something like that on my 2.0Tdi, seems to be getting worse and appears around the 1500 rpm range too. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/198647-scout-vibration/
  20. I suppose they look at if they change one set under warranty it's not a bad thing as by the time they delam again the car will be out of warranty hence no problem on their part. I had three done and the one that wasn't done has just started with the problem a few months out of the warranty period. Have enquired but got the party line of it's not covered anymore basically.
  21. Will get them to check it out on the next service which is just a few hundred miles away. Am beginning to think it's exhaust related though as the note as got slightly deeper....
  22. It's an 07 with 35k on the clock so out of warranty. Only noticed it slightly a few weeks back when on some dual carriageway, then on Sunday it just seemed louder and felt more "buzzy". Wierdly I've just been out and started it from cold and can't hear a thing so it only seems to be when all has warmed up.
