  1. Looking forward to picking it up in a couple of weeks - and the 200 mile drive home
  2. Agreed - but if the door can be manually unlocked (rather than via central locking) and then opens it should be a pass, I believe. The OP is a bit vague in his wording.
  3. You tried looking of www.volvoforums.org.uk - attached to Volvo Owners Club but anyone can sign up. Great bunch of people and there's always stuff for sale there. Truly the volvo equivilent of Brisoka Pete
  4. Welcome, I'm just returning after a few years with Volvo! Also Yorkshire here (Halifax area). Pete
  5. Just what O'll be looking for in about a month's time! Shame you're the other end of the country! I'd wish you good luck with the sale but I'm half hoping it'll still be around when I have the dosh... Oh I miss my old Fabia! Pete
  6. I have these Philips Xtreme Power jobs in mine and they were a good upgrade. Still road legal and fairly cheap. I have it in mind there's a Briskoda partner company that does good deals for members too! Pete
  7. My driver's floormat is starting to look worn where my right heel pivots. The car's only 7 months/13,000 miles old. Pete
  8. I think you need different hardware for the cornering foglights - they appear to have a different lense to the standard fogs. I suspect that they may need additional sensors too. I know mine are a factory fitted option combined with curve projector lights. Pete
  9. This is true - I took it for granted that people would work that out for themselves but you're probably right to state what seems bleeding obvious to me ;-) The reason I'm told for the need to have the 50mph sticker is not the diameter of the spare but the width. The tyre being 10mm narrower than standard and having deeper (and thus more flexible) sidewalls could mean that the handling becomes unpredictable in higher speed manouevres so a speed restriction is required to maintain a safety margin.
  10. Yes I have the same with my Fabia and have unfortunately had the need to use it twice in as many months. One the second occasion my garage informed that a goo can would have been no help whatsoever (I had run over a balance weight that had fallen off someone else's wheel). A recently retired Police friend of mine advised me that the 50mph sticker is there because otherwise the vehicle would not be legal on the road - wheels should be the same size on the same axle. Pete
  11. Mine said the 10k service was due at about the same mileage - I think it's something to do with the service indicator being set for the KM distance then translating it into miles. Booked it in to the dealer for service when I'd done 9,700 miles. It had actually done 10,200 on service day and the dealer didn't say anything about it being slightly over. For what it's worth, the service cost £104.95. Interestingly they notice a problem with the headlight wiring which I was totally unaware of (despite driving at night at least 4 times a week for 6 months since I got the acr in september 2009) which is being fixed under warranty. Apparently one of the wires for one of the headlights had been rubbing on something and the light was only working intermittently. It strikes me as odd that this fault should suddenly appear at the service having not shown any evidence whatsoever the night before when I had been driving in the dark...
  12. Indeed - like the scrappage scheme. There is research out there which indicates that only 50% of the pollution caused by a car comes out of its exhaust. the other 50% being produced as part of the extraction of raw materials to build it, the maunfacturing process, shipping it to the customer and disposing of it at the end of life. This was based on a car doing about 28mpg average over a 10 year period, covering 12,000 miles per year. In essence, running an older car that is well maintained is probably no worse for the environment than scrapping it for something that uses less fuel. However, causing new cars to be built is better for the global economy...
  13. If I remember rightly it took a couple of weeks for my Fabia to be ready for delivery/registration after it had arrived in the UK - it's 6 months ago now and I;ve slept enough times in that period to forget the details! Pete
  14. I believe it's in the accessory catalogue for the Fabia so should be available from any dealer. Pete
