  1. Evening Chaps! Not been on here for a while, but have now got myself back into the fold.. Got myself a FL 2012 vRS TDi DSG - It has the Maxidot - would love the large MPH display - is this possible? I have OBDEleven with Pro activation. So far I've managed... Cornering Fogs Dim DRL with Indicators Disable Seatbelt Chime Disable headlight washers - just a waste of fluid IMHO Increased comfort ind to 5 Turned off chirp when locking/unlocking
  2. Well to be fair I'm not sure of Simpsons setup - but we are still a privately owned company - which I'm sure has an effect on how we as staff are able to look after our customers - having previously worked for PLC companies - other than Skoda as well - It can be a very much different kettle of fish. And to be fair - if they were to follow the correct 3yr+ service sheet - there is absolutely NO difference in service level - indeed the only difference is that the service sheet is a pre-printed carbon copy form rather than the form printed from Skoda's online system for a "factory" service. And I certainly don't blame you for switching - I always like to treat customers how I would like to be treated - at the end of the day, customers are a reason for us to be here - not an interruption to our day! Dave
  3. Full disclosure here - I work for a Skoda main dealership - I wont say which, as I'm not here to advertise; However from a dealer point of view ( ours anyway ) There are 3 types of service for Skoda vehicles - Vehicles under 3yrs Fixed, Vehicles under 3yrs Variable and then there are vehicles over 3yrs which is called Skoda 3YR+. I actively switch people to the 3yr+ service schedule where appropriate - they're great value for money, and cover a raft of jobs other than services as well. You're right the Major service does state that Pollen Filter and Spark plugs are changed if required - that said, most vehicles that have this service with us are due for those replacements anyway - if not, they're not charged - reducing overall cost as it should. And certainly for us - there is a hell of a lot other stuff that goes on behind the scenes as it were - Every vehicle that comes to us for service has an FOC Wheel alignment check - we also carry out FOC Vehicle health checks( as do most) and also a summary video from the technician showing any items that require attention. In addition 48hrs prior to the car coming in, we raise the paperwork - check for outstanding recalls and prepare parts needed. If the customer has requested we check any other items we also check product bulletins for any parts that can be pre-ordered. In some cases if there are no bulletins we also raise a factory quality complaint - these are monitored by the UK and the factory and take as few as 5 reports for the technical dept to start investigating items that have been reported. These checks can then lead to software updates etc that may need implementing. For the later vehicles now with sat-nav they can be updated via the update website - another thing we carry out for our customer. Add to that the courtesy cars, free wash & vac collection & delivery etc that we carry out - Most main dealers are good value for money - and yes there are those who stick to their guns, but we have an open attitude to discounts - at they end of the day - you can ask, we wont be offended and to be honest - if we can help - we will From my own point of view, I would rather discount our prices and continue to see our customers year after year - taking the mick in the first 3 years does one thing - drive them away - certainly not what we want either from a service dept point of view or from a sale point of view.

    Dashcam

Skoda offer a number of Dashcams, amongst them the Kenwood DRV-410 - Very discreet size, bonds to windscreen and is hard wired to vehicles wiring to allow correct parking usage as well - not the cheapest but also offers some features that people may find useful like front crash warning and lane assist - for vehicles that don't have this already of course. Also the software to view the results is very easy to use - and comprehensive. But at the end of the day - you pays your money you makes your choice!
  5. The 1.0 TSi 95 is a new engine - 3 cylinders rather than 4 and very nippy little motor it is too - that said, nothing wrong with the old 1.2 either! Certainly the way the new engine performs makes it "Feel" quicker - if it is or not isn't really an issue on the road.
  6. Yeah they look way too high standard - got eibach springs on the golf so probably look at those
  7. Got the Mrs a Corrida red Monte earlier in the year, looking to get some nice little mods completed - lowering is heigh on the agenda! If you'll excuse the pun also remap and exhaust although can't find any of the usual suspects for exhaust, although Milltek suggested a vRS system would fit? But as different engine / body not sure that would work?
  8. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I suspect you are suffering from leaking doors - a very common Fabia issue - the door anciliaries carrier seal fails and allows water to run inside the car - usually causing the rear carpets to get soaked. To fix you need to remove the door trims, dry out the carrier seals by pushing the carrier and then copius amounts of silicone sealer applied around the lower 3/4 - then smoothed out with a water/fairy liquid mix. HTH
  9. I know they have a bad rep - but I've had 2 and they've been brilliant - no problem at all
  10. Glad you got it sorted, if you want a bit of re-assurance you can drop it in to us and we'll check it over for you. (Dave,Mitchells Service - spoke to you earlier)
  11. Well I've just traded down from my vRS that was chipped to 180bhp to a 1.4TDi Fabia Bohemia, and whilst its not as quick - its a very capable vehicle that returns decent economy. Personally I would go for the 1.4 over the 1.9 - cheaper to maintain and reliable as well as cheaper to tax and fuel
  12. Yes we will - @ Millbrook no less, with the opportunity to drive the car and competitors around the high speed bowl and the alpine course. EDIT: Anyone who would like to see a LHD Superb, should contact there local dealer - Skoda have a roadshow going around dealerships at the back end of July for staff training and customer preview - although no test drives will be allowed.
  13. Would expect low-mid 40's dependant on miles car done and useage.
  14. DSG with paddleshift not til next June after Octavia facelift.
  15. I have not had an email from Play - but my account shows that the game was posted last Friday - with a 3-5 working day delivery :(
  16. Ok,so we now know that SUK will not be brining out Fabia vRS untill Sept'2010. We know that it won't be running a PD engine. The octavia vRS TDi is changing to a CR unit in Sept, prior to the rest of the Octavia getting a facelift in November. The Octavia vRS does not get facelifted until June next year - maybe introducing new engine? as someone said there is a more powerful CR engine coming. That would allow for a CR170 Fabia and maybe even a 1.4TSi 140/160 petrol variant as well.
  17. That's what I was thinking, only my VB ain't that good - oh well no time like the present to learn I suppose!!
  18. HELP!! I'm currently adapting a spreadsheet for work, that I need some help with. Basically I'm creating a year to date spreadsheet showing our monthly performance I have a table with the months of the year, target, actual and running totals. What I'm looking to do is enter a particular month in a box and have excel auto fill the target and running target box's . I've tried allsorts but can't seem to crack it - anybody got any idea if this is possible. the sheet is going to be used by other managers and whilst I could fill it in manually each month it would be easier if it would auto fill from the information that is already filled in every day. Thanks in advance for anyone who has any idea.
  19. Having sat through a presentation from the head of Skoda UK - showing the model line up until 2010 - no vRS was mentioned at all in fact the growth of fabia is expected to come from the sport......
  20. The sat-nav unit is the mfd3 same as vrsstu has in his octavia - very, very nice peice of kit -- first seen in the VW Touareg.
  21. It feels great, the level of performance from the 130PD is great - and an added bonus is that it does 10mpg more than the renault!!
  22. We are not expecting a Fabia vRS before late '09 at the earliest -- but should be worth the wait, Skoda want to make the vRS "Properly" this time, and so are prepared to lose some sales - in the knowledge they will make them up when it is finally launched.....
  23. Thank's people - Yes it does feel good to be back in the fold - especially after 9 months of driving a Renault!!!!!
