  1. Yes, awesome kept the suspense by not showing that criticle last 1500 rpm on the n55 It was indeed virtually identical at 5k, was quite interesting. We had a chance on the way home to find out a bit more but I was to busy comparing a sign to my nav and completly missed the jump, doh! And thanks for organising Mike
  2. misfire did sound pretty bad Mike, surprised they got a full run, does it do it on the road to? mine was actually 372bhp + 410lbs (the quoted 380 was a spike after the run was done, actual peak across the 3 runs was 372 each time)
  3. nope, spectators reduce the power output of participants cars
  4. Another135? Cool. Which version mate and any mods?
  5. Typical No probs Al, its driving fine so ill struggle on
  6. Al,do you do alignment inc camber? I got my track rods free'd so I need front and rear toe setting and the rear camber. Ill provide the settings. Ive been ****ing about with it all and its miles out. Drives ok (pretty sweet tbh) and straight so will be fine on the rollers, but it needs doing properly, theres only so close you can get with a bowed piece of 2x2 and some marker pen If you do can i book a session after the RR?
  7. That smily looks wrong, i thought it had a face on it?
  8. uh? I was starting to look forward to staying in bed! Thanks for sorting something out tho Al
  9. tbh, id be tempted to fail that (if i was a tester, which im not!), if an eye isnt kept on it it could go right through and deflate. Id say turn it round to the outside where you can see it and it would be safer. Safety is the most important thing. Looks a bit like a tracking issue to me?
  10. If you want a fun drive petrol always wins. I dont think its about performance, sound, smell etc but how the engine reacts. A petrol is sharper in its response than a deisal, making it much nicer to drive. Petrols also have longer rev ranges, for enthusiastic driving this is much easier to use. It makes gear ratio and selection much easier and its less corruptive to the chassis (im no honda fan, but this is what makes a type r great) There is also weight, a diesal engine is so heavy compared to a same powered petrol. imo, these things make, today, the petrol engine a winner for a sports car. Or, would lotus fit an oil burner in there next car? ive never driven an electric road car, but ive raced leccy and ic RC cars and the ic simply wipes the floor with electric. It has infinitely more character and you can waste energy and laugh about it. With a battery every degree of steering lock is a mile less youll travel!
  11. it is a lot of car for the money, but i wouldnt get one either. And ive never not had a Rover on my drive!
  12. wouldnt get your hopes up mate, those that are going to pay have paid...... And i got no interest from the Rover forum. Well, 1 person till I mentioned paying and then the ether got him.
  13. I was exaggerating for effect (or speedo numbers should make it/get close) Would struggle in the wet to, I doubt i would get anywhere near 100 in the wet there thats for sure. But yes, in the dry id imagine most cars could get 100 on the first straight, you need some sort of power to do it on the next one as the your coming out of the chicane slow its all about ponies to the next corner. The last one starts at that late apex left, but the 100 will come up as you pass the kink/right after the S. This one has a higher than average difficulty rating..... I would like to stress that nobody does try this tho, speedo watching on a trackday will lead to a crash. Im just using 100 as an example of the braking energy. It might be a slow track with lots of corners but it can work the brakes hard to.
  14. Ill probably come along to this (if allowed...) Blyton is probably my fav track, its corner on corner on corner and very little to crash into  imo its very hard physically tho, and the slightest lapse in concentration and youll start missing apex's by miles. It can also be quite hard on the car, with some fast corners, and 3 100+ braking zones within a minute.
  15. Shall I ask some of my Rover chums? This isnt moving along in the most positive fashion! Im sure I could muster atleast 1 'maybe' from over there
  16. Good vid (apart from the rvm!), it was going really well. Ive wondered how the mk2's would go on track. If it was damp you would have an advantage over the M3, an average driver isnt going to be all that effective in a rwd car. The ST and clio are different, they are pretty good in the wet and decent handling cars. Good stuff. thicker arbs are generaly worse in the wet btw, so in those conditions they probably wouldnt of helped that much.
  17. The PF pads are an excellent pad for track use. Maybe a bit extreme for road use (can be noisy and stopping from cold isnt fantastic) but on the flip side they are very good on track and last for ages.
  18. Find out what (inside) diameter they are first, and secondary get the length (not as critical obviously, but youll need them within a certain tolerance to get your adjustment) Then wherever is cheapest! I forget where i get mine from, but as an example try motorsport tools. here youll see typcial 2.25's are very cheap compared to bespoke springs (aprx £40 a pair). But thats the real advantage of a proper coilover, it uses std sized springs which makes them easy to get and so versatile. Problem comes in choosing your rates (and matching the rear oe style springs)...... Like you say, if your getting them cheap enough its probably worth a play.
  19. Fronts look quite nice in that they come as proper coilovers and have helper springs to. But at the end of the day you get what you pay for..... you dont even need to go inside the damper to get this either, the body rots and the shaft can to. so id check the condition vs age of the units your looking at for starters. Im guessing these are oil filled to? Like Rob said the ride is driven by the springs as much as the dampers, and being 'coilovers' the fronts can be swapped out easily and cheaply (not sure what you do with the rears as the springs look bespoke). Check the spring diamter on the front tho, there are various diamters and some are much cheaper than others! So if you can adjust the damping the ride can be exactly what you want by setting it yourself with spring rates and the rebound/bump adjustment.
