  1. Yeah, I did have to give it some thought before clicking to confirm the order Nice one for your help.
  2. A Duracell CR2032 arrived for the princely sum of 78 new pence, and now the keyfob works fine again. Thanks to you all for the tips and advice!
  3. Cheers, one Duracell CR2032 winging it's way to me
  4. Nice one, thanks!! I'll get a battery and give that a go.
  5. My keyfob stopped working properly last night. I can still remotely lock the car, and unlocking with the key and starting the car works fine, but I can't unlock it remotely. Fortunately I have the spare so can carry on using the car. I assume the batteries in the keyfobs have a finite life. The car is just about 6 years old, does that sound about right for a dead battery? Will Skoda have replace the battery? Presumably it's an overpriced job? Any advice or experience appreciated. Cheers.
  6. I don't know, I'll check tonight. I took it to my local garage and trust what they told me. If it's disabled, my fault code reader would show that up wouldn't it ?
  7. Took it to my trusted local garage. £70 lighter and no warning light ! Apparently they know VAG cars are prone to this. They took out the seat, took all the connectors apart, cleaned them and put it all back together. Fingers crossed no-one pushes back the seat too quickly again, or whatever caused it in the first place! Thanks for the tips.
  8. I've got the airbag light come on, on the dash. Also, an irritating bong, and a warning on the MFD every time I start the car. Plugged in the fault code reader I've got and it showed up 1218 - 225 Side Airbag Igniter Passenger N200 Sporadic 001 Upper Limit Exceeded Could this be the dodgy connector under the seat that I've read a bit about or is that the wrong error code? Can I take it Skoda and get it done for nowt? It's a vRS Octavia, 06 plate. Any tips much appreciated!
  9. Including the bump in insurance ?
  10. Tell me about it ! I really want "the extra mpg" and the STS. Not a small amount of cash though, plus the DVLA just took my money.
  11. I know! But alloys will be back on soon, and slick summer tyres need replacing :(
  12. must.... resist.... temptation.
  13. The unit was indeed retrofitted, I think you put in a hockey puck type receiver didn't you ??
  14. I've got an MFD3 fitted and it all works nicely most of the time. However, a few times recently, the satnav has started off a hundred metres or so out, and got further out as I've gone along. Obviously it's pretty annoying and not much use if I'm going somewhere I've not been to before. Only once has it corrected itself as I've been going along, the other times it seems to have sorted itself for the next journey. Anyone got any idea why it might be doing this? I figure it can't be that it doesn't see any satellites, as it moves along when the car does and turns with it too. Also, is there any way of telling the device to check itself and reassess it's position? Cheers for any light anyone can shed on this !
  15. I'm going to sound like such a pleb, but I couldn't get the casing open! I got the cover off the engine, undid all the screws, took off the heat shield, but couldn't get it apart. Is there a nack? Does the pipe need to come off the side? I didn't have a lot of time as I expected it to be a 5minute job, but before I take another go with a bit more time, I thought I'd ask.
  16. Nice choice! Having also got a baby and starting to get a little older, I went from a chipped golf VR6 to a race blue vRS hatchback. Still very pleased with my choice
  17. Happened to me too. Was on the phone to my boss at the time (handsfree of course), and he thought there was something properly wrong when I went "oh ****, that's not good. Gotta go!"
  18. Is that this one ? Would you mind explaining what you mean by adaption for new modules ? Cheers
  19. I need to ask the same question for a Mk2 '06 vRS Octavia... Any idea what extra you get in this one ? http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_GDVAGPRO.html Other than the "ruggedised design"
  20. I can't recall the figures for the ST/Megane. I'm sure someone can correct me, but the Skoda is more or less the same as the Golf. It's 200bhp as standard, and is easily tuned for more.
  21. What kind of advice are you after? When it came to replace my old VR6, I was looking at a Golf GTi, and I also considered a Focus ST. However, in the course of looking I discovered that the vRS is essentially a practical Golf GTi. The boot is enormous, but it still goes when you need it to and handles well too. I also think it looks pretty good. I've had several quick golfs, but I'm loving my Skoda so far!
  22. Yep! More like high 20s for me, and 35 or so on a run....
  23. Really? I've got them on my vRS which I've had since last summer. I find that they're fine in the dry, but bad in the wet and frankly awful in the cold. For me, they're not wearing quick enough! I want them to go down to justify the expenditure on the Vred !
  24. lol, true. Took a day or two for the fog of impending £1500 bill to clear.
