  1. Thanks for the advice, will def do if whoever looks at it tells me it's a no-hoper. Steve
  2. Thanks for the reply, Thought that might have been the case, best book it in then. Steve
  3. Hi folks, I have a 56 Octy TDI VRS estate that has developed a curious problem. I bought it last June (ex-lease hire) so it didn't come with an owners manual, now I think I have a columbus stereo fitted. It has a 6 disc multichanger, Aux facility and came with Sat nav. My propblem started in the middle of the recent cold weather when one morning on my way to work I lost the screen display on the stereo and it went white but the stereo/radio still worked. This has continued for the past 3 weeks or so where occasionally the screen will come back only to go again the next day. I have even had it that when I turn the ignition on the screen comes back but when I start the engine I lose the screen again. Anyone got any ideas? or am I doomed to have to take it to a garage? Real pain in the backside as it means that the sat nav is useless at the moment. Thanks Steve
  4. I had a similar issue with my Audi A4, i.e. loss of power, being stranded and fast idle. called out the RAC and it turned out to be caused by water getting in behind the bulkhead and it screwed up the electronic throttle.
  5. Thanks for the reply, I am just outside Bath in the Southwest and am more than willing to exchange some beer tokens for further assistance:D. I have checked the brake lights and they are fine. Please excuse my ignorance but would the VAG-COM be able to identify the cause even though the light has gone out and it appears to be driving fine?
  6. Hello, I am hoping some wise folks may be able to assist? I have a 56 plate Octavia 2.0l TDI VRs estate that had a strange problem on the way home today. After I stopped to put diesel in Iwent to re-start the car and the glowplug lights stayed on and kept flashing and the message "engine fault workshop" appeared. I managed to trundle home using the engine safety mode and went to look up the light on this forum because I did not get an owners manual with it (ex lease hire). I looked up the fault and it say's it needs to go to a garage for diagnostic, however I went back outside to make sure i had my facts right before I called the garage and the light and the warning message has gone!?! I took the car out for a spin and it seems fine now. My question is do you think I should still take it to a garage for a diagnostic or is this a common issue? Thanks for reading. Steve
  7. Thanks for that, do you know if this will be a re-occuring issue for me? am I best to get it checked or just wait and see?

  9. Hey folks, Glad to be a member here, and glad to be the proud father of a 56 plate Octavia 2.0l TDI VRs estate . I have already used the site to assist me in a number of questions I had before I bought mine about 3 weeks ago, and I absolutaly love my Octavia. You can't get better for the money in my opinion. Cheers Steve
