  1. Crank sensor throws a 16706 code Iirc and EPC light comes on and will be difficult to start. Also check your brakelight switch, its dual circuit and will cut the ECU randomly if faulty though brakelights may still operate. Had a stage 2 4x4 and this cost me a lot of time and money to track down to the brakelight switch. Both parts about a tenner non OEM. As suggested get codes read.
  2. Thanks for your reply. The fuses (2 @ 39 for hazards ) are fine, O/S indicators function on hazards. All brand new VAG parts. Stumped.
  3. I had the same problem. Cleaning the throttle body with some carb cleaner fixed it.
  4. The indicators on my 02 VRS have been playing up of late. I replaced the hazard/relay switch, which didn't fix the issue and have just replaced the column stalk. Both new OEM VAG parts. They still don't work so I suspect there maybe a wiring issue but would appreciate any advice on where to look next. ***EDIT*** The hazards work but no indicator function on the nearside. With the ignition off, moving the column up or down activates the parking light feature and warning buzzer. Cheers
  5. Petrol better for lots of shorter journeys IMO. My vrs is completely standard unlike the 2 Octavia's I have owned before, so just gets run on 95RON fuel and has averaged 35MPG over the last tank. I had mk2 VRS PD remapped to 200bhp and that never averaged more than 42mpg and had warranty issues with the DPF when it was 2.5 years old....
  6. Might also be worth checking the hose back from the "pancake pipe" to the TIP, which is under the OSF arch, mounted to the subframe. It is a flexible hose, wrapped in a metal heat proof cloth, held on with pop fasteners. The hose is held on by circlips and runs up to the TIP between the rear of the engine and the bulkhead. I had it become dislodged slightly once and symptoms were erratic boost and loud hissing sound , noticibly more audible when driving with the drivers window down and then booting it around 2krpm in 3rd
  7. The 4x4 was never a performance car. It can be made into one but it will cost ALOT of time and money, obviously less with second hand parts, fitted yourself. A Vrs will be more upto the job out the box and with a stage 1 map will see 210bhp, without the extra weight. Launching the 4x4 off the line will be fun, but sooner or later the standard drivetrain will protest, noisily.... This was my old ride with vrs bumper fitted and Audi TT 16's and the more stealthy rear end on winter wheels
  8. 250bhp will need a turbo upgrade. You can get 235-240 out of a K03S with Stage2 map (+ minimum FMIC, Sport Cat full exhaust). Car is around 100 kilos heavier than a Vrs. You should fit vrs front brakes minimum, better with vrs rear (both larger diameter). Then it will go and stop but won't handle great. 4x4 floorpan different so rear suspension parts will be different and single cat FWD exhaust will not fit. The 'box is a weak point and with that power, will destroy itself sooner or later. Fitting Golf VR6 clutch and G60 flywheel would be beneficial. Blue Haldex worth trying to track down as it engages the 4WD on accelleration, not just slip. Assuming you can find the minmum parts you want second hand, you are probably looking at around grand without handling mods. Snow_Muncher is the authority on these, no doubt he will be along soon.
  9. The brake light switch is dual circuit and costs about a tenner to replace and about 30 mins to change. It rattles if faulty, once removed. Getting the under dash trim off off and on properly takes half that time.... I doubt it causes power to be lost in the way described but worth trying given the small cost. I used to own a highly modded MK1 4x4 which I sold 3 years ago and it was off the road for several weeks for an issue with it cutting out as soon as around 4500 rpm was reached under load. There is a long post about it somewhere in the forum archives. As it happens, just bought a completely standard vRS yesterday to run around in, so was re familiarising myself with Briskoda as need to clean my MAF soon, as knew it had 17705 error when I bought it.
  10. Today was the day to collect the Yeti. However DVLA's AFRL registration system was down, so no Yeti registration possible. Apparently a national issue. :( Car is being delivered Monday with full tank of fuel as way of compensation by the dealer. Having taken it for a brief test drive as part of the acceptance, I can confirm the sports seats are well worth the extra and come with lumbar adjustment.

  13. Best pics I have seen of a 1.2 Outdoor SE so far. We pick up the same spec car in red at the end of the week. I had some reservations as to whether not spec'ing one of the alternate optional alloys was a bad idea given the vague configurator image, but they really suit the car IMO.
  14. Latest update, car is slightly ahead of schedule and in UK and should be at the dealers within a week or so, ready for March 1st reg.

  16. Ah, wondered why the update notifications stopped, now I know . We ordered a 1.2 SE Outdoor mid November, originally build week 6, then went to 7 for a couple of weeks, then back to 6, so expected beginning of March in time for the plate change. Can't fault the dealer, who has emailed every two weeks with an update, as they said they would.
  17. It might be something to do with the Czech Koruna dropping nearly 10% in the last 2 months, against the pound. The Czech banks have hit a bit of trouble recently.   18. Thanks for the second confirming opinion. Interior spec doesn't differ on Indoor / Outdoor version AFAIK. Given the recent discussion on options delaying order's, seeing sports seats on a delivered UK car suggests to me they are not one of the possible options that are delaying builds, although that could always change.
  19. Would I be right in thinking this particular example has the sports seats? We spec'd them on our SE 1.2 order.

  21. LOL, I like your thinking, but I'll never use it. First Yeti he tried was an Urban ex demo and he preferred the seats.
  22. Outdoor 1.2 SE. Corrida Red, Sports Seats, TPM, Light Assistant , Spare Wheel and Heated Nozzles . Ordered 16/11/13. Expected 1/3/14. Fathers car, managing purchase for him.
  23. We were given the same timeframe - early March although 1st March was requested. This is on an order placed on Saturday just gone.
  24. Hi. I just placed an order for my father yesterday on a 1.2 Outdoor SE with about a grands worth of options. We weren't told anything about the 1.2 SE being Outdoor spec only, but went for this variant as he preferred the "Outdoor" look. We were told the FL production doesn't start until January by two dealers. The Yeti is expected sometime in March when the 14 plate change comes in and in time for his 70th birthday. Having convinced him to let me do the legwork to get him a decent discount, I hope his car doesn't get delayed until April....
  25. Sorry to resurrect the thread, but I am looking at getting these and would appreciate any feedback on wear from members that have them. These are C rated as opposed to F rated, like most 225/45/18 tyres. I have run HS449 Falken's over winter and have been impressed with there performance, but being F rated on wear, they have worn more than the Conti Winter Contacts 830's I had on my Octavia 4x4, with about 7mm left after 6000 miles.
