  1. Thanks for the quick replies.. Just went round to tyre shop for the balancing, but the lad said it wouldn't help as the rear tyres looked out of shape.. The tyres have got a decent tread left still.. but will get the prices for 2 news. I have used Firestone before and have had a good experience.. Will search around to see how much they would make me lighter by! The flywheel would have been done anyways as it is included in the warranty. I would look at the more brighter side as I had a new clutch put in (parts paid by me) whilst the gearbox was out.. But I get your point..
  2. Hi All, Having recently replaced my old GLX Tdi (2000) with a 2005 1.9 Tdi PD Elegance (55 Reg) with about 63K on the odo, I am experiencing this motorway speeds vibration. It comes in at speeds around 70 mph+ and than stays there annoyingly.. As the car comes with a 12months Skoda used car warranty, I took it to the local dealer who had a look and guessed that it was the dual mass flywheel. After some persuasion, it was replaced under warranty. However the problem has resurfaced and I'm going nuts now.. Wondering to get the wheel balancing done (I admit this should have been done first, but since the flywheel which is a known issue was getting changed, I thought rather...) Also the tyres aren't the best around (Front - Maxxis, Rear - Falken, all 205/55 R16s) The vibrations are felt through the vehicle body and disappear at lower speeds. Nothing is felt at lower speeds / rpms. Anyone else around with similar issues? Any remedial suggestions?
  3. Hi All, Having read all the posts about the Grundig MS201 tape receiver, I am now clear as to how that can be done , should I need to replace it. Thanks guys. However, I am not clear whether replacing this head unit is the answer to my problem. Could you guys please advise? As if the standard speakers are not worthy enough to deliver, there would be very little to less effect after the head change. I tried to adjust the bass on this MS201 and it just doesn't reach my standard expectations. I am sure, most would agree. What would you suggest, change of head, change of speakers, etc.. any known tweaks for the sound..? I wouldnt really like to go the subwoofer way, but am just looking for a decent bass output. Any comments would help me arrive at a decision. Cheers! Gansbab
  4. Hi Bigshape, Welcome.. ! I had a similar budget and model range and did get one (a bit higher than £1500) via autotrader. Octavia 1.9 Tdi GLX A recent check did bring up atleast 2 cars around your requirements. Have a look! Cheers
  5. Hi again.. Thanks for the welcome..However, I could not get a decent Fabia in my price range. So decided to go in for an Octavia GLX 1.9 TDi... So still a SKODA.... Hopeful of sharing facts and knowledge soon! Bye for now. Gansbab
  6. Hi all, Just joined the forum to mingle along you all and also to look around how to be closer to the community. What better than to own one..! I am looking around for a Fabia Diesel (2000-2003) priced sensibly and mileage under 100k. Please contact me directly and we get talking immediately. BFN, Gans 07894657479
